What a fab place

Lee R (North Wales, United Kingdom) on Apr 06, 2024

Having just returned from an amazing trip to Crystal cove I struggle to see why everyone doesn't give this place a 5 star review. It's styled in a traditional way and if you're expecting a huge Marriott with sliding doors and large marble floors then maybe you'll be disappointed. But what you get is a friendly, well appointed all-inclusive. Our apartment was lovely on 2 levels with a kids bed set up downstairs with a sofa, little bar, mini fridge and bathroom with a bath. Upstairs is a huge bed and hugeTV (which we didn't turn on as there was too much to do) and nice bathroom. The beach was a few steps from our room and lovely. Well kept, lots of beds, lots of space, beautiful clear water where you could see the fish and crabs from the shallows. There was reasonable snorkeling from the beach. The 3 pools linked by trickling water were wonderful. Each fairly small but with beds round each one plenty of space. The cave bar was a great novelty with the waterfall pouring over. We never had to wait long and the kids loved the milkshakes. Kids club was super. Open 9 till 5ish with an hour for lunch. Staff were great and knew our kids within 30mins or arriving. There was a different activity each day - lots of craft too. Watersports were free, easy to book. Our 6 year old did banana boating and the rings which she loved. Didn't have time to try the kayaks or sail boats +++ - next time! Food was good. Not as much choice as some all inclusive but what there was, was good quality. Both restaurants vary between al-a-carte and buffet and there's always a kids buffet available so they can eat quickly! There's so much included at this resort. We loved the coffee shop/wine bar where you can get a coffee, glass of wine, crisps, nuts and cake all at the same time and all included. There's also afternoon tea and cocktails and canapés each night - all free! On top of all this the resort has 3 sister resorts all linked by the free water taxi. And 2 of them are included in the all inclusive. We just hooped on the boat and 5 mins later you're at the other resort for a swim and a cocktail. Almost every member of staff were friendly and welcoming. The only bad thing here was having to leave.

One of the worst “resorts” experienced

Linda Y on Apr 06, 2024

This resort is listed as 4.5 and it’s 2 at best based on room and management. I’m a member of Marriott therefore I prefer to use their properties. Crystal cove is outdated, rustic, camping type experience. No elevator for handicap. It advertised a garden balcony but the room had patio, with view of two huge oak trees snd the cleaning carts. Curtains were stained and dirty. Couch and ottoman were stained and should have been replaced. Some type material oozing from pipes. Floor drain had black mold. The picture of the room on website must have been taken years ago because it does not currently reflect rooms. 15 minutes after arrival, i requested cancellation because site says for fee, you can cancel. The back office (whomever that was), said no way. I went ahead and checked out because a moldy room with my health problems I couldn’t stay. For some, this maybe your ideal experience but had you added rustic, camping vibe, I would never reserved. Marriott Bonvoy, shame on you!!!!!!

Ignore the bad reviews

Hegartys (Essex, United Kingdom) on Apr 05, 2024

We are half way through our break here with our teens. Ok let’s get out the way , yes the rooms are a bit tired but are cleaned and bleached daily and have everything you need including a fridge and air con . We have a beach view . However apart from showering and sleeping we have no need to be in there a lot as the island is stunning !! Food amazing including breakfast which has an omelette station and endless options for all guests plus caters for all kinds of food types including veggie and gluten free which is better than some areas of the UK If anything is needed or missing just ask the staff . They are the friendliest kindest bunch of beautiful people and can’t do enough for you . Always there with a smile. Reception helpful as is Lisa on the desk at 9am . You can get food anytime if the day either in the restaurant at mealtimes or the coffee bar which does wraps , cake snacks and endless types of drinks and coffees Bar choices fabulous with cocktails , beer , spirits etc lots of bottles of water available al day and soft drinks Entertainment nightly with singers , bands shows etc . Plus we have gone outside the resort too which is so easy by bus( change given at reception as need exact amount ) and done a catamaran , the historic parts in Bridgetown plus off to holetown today Also few bars within walking distance Wster sports in hotel fantastic and been out on a sailboat , kayak and daughter waterskiing today plus doing inflatable rings. Book day before and kayaks you just turn up. We don’t want to leave and don’t understand the negative reviews at all !! ,

Trip tips

AndyJoni1 (Holly Springs, North Carolina) on Mar 29, 2024

-Taxi to the hotel is $75US, including tip, which must be paid in cash. It is a 45 minute trip. -If you arrive anytime after 2:30, don't be hungry, dinner is the next time you can get food. I read that the coffee shop had some food but, there was none available during our stay. -Reserve your watersport time in the morning when its calm, in the afternoon the waves get choppy and quite often the crew will shut things down. Also, watersport time can be divided up - 4 participants = 40 minutes so, you can waterski for 15, tube for 25. -Jet skis are now $75US through beach vendors. -There is only about one rock-free path to get out past the waves. Find this in the early part of the day as well because later in the day the water isn't as clear. -Fellow vacationers are 85% British and 90% rude. "Hello", "excuse me" and even friendly head nods are typically met with a scowl. For most, 10am is naptime and 4pm is afternoon tea. Afternoon tea is inconveniently held across from the cave bar. Its a bit awkward to walk through that formal affair in a bathing suit to get a drink. Instead, use the Drifter bar around 4pm. -There is no bourbon or whiskey. There is one local beer in a can. The lone beer on tap is Caribe. The top and middle shelves are empty. The bar at Drifters has the best selection of adult beverages. The coffee bar has a limited selection of booze but, they do make a killer espresso martini. -The "cave" is actually some sort of painted cement and rebar which surrounds all pools. There is also a small ledge when exiting the lower pool and approaching the bar stools at cave bar, your toes have been warned! -You have to make a reservation to dine at sister resorts for lunch or dinner. After you make the reservation they will give you a little card that you will need. Dine-around folks are limited to the buffet for lunch. For dine-around dinner you can do a la cart but, you will have to pay for a taxi which is $40US because the water taxi only runs til 4:30. Room service is a $10 fee. -When the captain of the water taxi asks you where you are going, reply with North or South, rather than a restaurant name. If you reply with a restaurant name, for example Tamarind, you may travel South for 20 minutes, then turn around and ride right by Crystal on you way 10 minutes North to Tamarind. -Checkout time is 12. Somehow the taxi to the airport is $100US. -You have to have a printed boarding pass, boarding passes on a phone are not allowed.
