Very disappoint stay at Waves

ECFFLKG (Lakeland, Florida) on Jul 17, 2024

We had read all good things about this property and were very excited to go as part of our 30th anniversary trip to Barbados (5 nights here and 5 nights at Turtle Beach - that's another story.) I have to say the room we chose (Ocean Front Split Level Room) was pretty awesome! We loved the balcony that overlooked the water and although our room was directly over the entrance to the lobby, noise was never an issue. The staff was very nice and always had a smile for us. These were about the only things we enjoyed about our stay. THREE weeks before our stay, we were notified the spa, restaurant and adult pool across the street were closed and unavailable to us. Obviously, this restricted our activities at the property. The food was average at the only restaurant available to us. The alcohol available was barely middle of the road. The beach is very small and almost non-existent at high tide. They do provide a water shuttle to their "sister properties" which is nice during the day but they stop running late afternoon so if you want to experience dinner at another property you have to take a taxi.

Birthday trip

We have just returned from a stay at Waves hotel & spa. From start to finish the staff were amazing, we had a lovely room looking over the ocean it was perfect. The food in the buffet was varied and fresh at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The option of the Fusion restaurant was there and there was a good choice with top quality food. The cocktails are also amazing. The complimentary spa treatments were exceptional, we had the facial, head massage and express massage. Staff there were fab! Throughout the hotel there is a real personal touch - the staff know your names and will go out of the way to help you and make your stay enjoyable. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to a family emergency and the staff helped all they could. We made it back in time to say our goodbyes which we are thankful for. I wouldn’t hesitate to revisit Waves again in the future x

Good small resort

parvathi n on Jul 05, 2024

Our stay in waves was good. We enjoyed the beach, pool and the food. We appreciated the professionalism of the staff, especially when hurricane Beryl came through the island. They were calm, friendly and well organized. The good.. Food was tasteful. We did not eat here every day, but all the meals we ate at waves were very good. Being a small resort, beach is very good, private and not crowded. Rooms were good, spacious with balcony and ocean views. What could they improve on. Check in process felt long!, this probably was because there is no air conditioner near the front desk. After a long flight we were really tired and had to go and sit in the restaurant again without any air conditioning and the fan was not working! Did not feel very good at this time, about this resort, although after a day we were all happy! A welcome drink or fans in the sitting area would really help to improve this experience!

Excellent from start to finish

The first thing you notice about this hotel is how many people return. I’d say during our visit a good 50% of people return at least once a year and it’s all because it’s a great hotel all round. We stayed here mid May for 10 nights and highly recommend it for couples of grown up children. I say this because as we were here the main pool area and that side of the hotel was closed for refurb and I don’t really know what’s on offer on that side for smaller children. The staff were excellent, even the manager would welcome you each morning by your name which was a first for us. The staff work hard ensuring everything is catered for and that your stay is brilliant. The restaurant quality was great. Breakfast is a small buffet but plenty of options, as well as lunch. Evening meal you had to book up, but they wasn’t on you if you was early or late. The evening meals were around 3 choices. The weekly menu choice pasta, pizza, burgers and alike available all week, with no change. Daily menu changed on alternate days from nicely cooked lamb, beef and the chicken meals to the Asian menu as the other restaurants was closed during our stay. I must say that the food was really great, but having the same Asian menu every other night became slightly repetitive. The menu was changed after a week to a new menu. The beach was small, yet perfect and no issues getting a subbed together with umbrella anytime of the day. Getting into the sea there were 2 ledges which made it awkward getting out of until you found to go with the waves coming in. The small pool was quiet and plenty of choice. As we stayed 10 nights we had 2 30 minute massage vouchers each. I highly recommend this. In all not a cheap holiday, but it was worth every penny. We will return l, as like the rest of people that come here. Thank you to all the staff and management for a brilliant stay.

Great Birthday Getaway! So much to do, so little time!

MelissaR2476 on Jun 01, 2024

This was a wonderful birthday getaway in a boutique-style hotel and Spa. Spa services were performed in the suites as the hotel is undergoing renovation - be sure to enjoy the salt scrub and back massage! The pool was still available at the main building. Dining available at Seascapes restaurant or if you're interested in eating at one of their sister hotels, you may take a water taxi to Tamarind or Crystal Cove. Kyma Café is a great spot for a quick bite, or if you are feeling "snackish" overnight. Note, dinner reservations are required irrespective of site and request a copy of the water taxi schedule (or take a picture). Also, I love the availability of local artisans on site (just outside Kyma) for quick souvenir shopping! If you are looking to explore local eats (i.e. Roti Den, Friday nights at Oistins Fish Fry, or Lickrish Food tour is a must!), excursions like Harrison's Cave, the Mt. Gay Rum Distillery Tour, an Island Tour, or activities available on the premises, then Kevin is your man! The staff are like a family - welcoming and inviting, and we shared soooo many laughs! We are grateful for all who contributed to a great stay - Ryan (be sure to keep an eye on George for me lol), Kevin, Tiara, Ms. Beverly, Debbie, Rhia & Janisa, Ms. Cheryl and Oliver, Derek, Stefan, Daron, Sabrina, Christina, Sariah, Akeil, Jabaar, Kemal, Tanisha, Keshia and Kim, even the lovely Jennifer (yoga instructor). We connected with everyone - too many to name! Everyone is friendly and willing to help!
