Great stay at Waves Barbados!

jayce p (Boston, Massachusetts) on May 12, 2026

We had an amazing time at Waves! It’s a smaller boutique style resort. They offer 2 restaurants on property an Indian style restaurant and a buffet / à la carte restaurant with a rotating menu. You are allowed to dine at a few of the sister properties. Only requirement is you must make a reservation through the front desk. The room was beautiful and spacious very inviting. The beach is a little small but they have plenty of chairs for the guests along with motorized and non motorized activities available. There is a daily water taxi that has set times ranging from 9am to about 4:30/5pm that runs south to north then north to south. This allows you to visit the sister properties during the day for lunch or to just spend some time at a different beach or pool. The staff was amazing throughout our entire stay. They made it a trip to remember. Definitely a great place to stay when visiting Barbados!

NO Go!!

Discover13143756510 on May 11, 2026

If your honest this is no way a four & half hotel. The whole building is drab, rotten, old. Your clothes are ruined with birds phoop. The kitchen was on most occasions never ready and to be honest it was not great, really! They really had no clue, no professionalism whats so ever. Couldn't cook an egg even IF the apparatus was working! I mean no bread just toast bread! The sliced meat and cheese was sweating!! The beach waiters were mostly smashed, behaviour most inappropriate. It was a few drinks for guests and few for them hid in there white stand. But at least the sun beds were not broken down and holes in the umbrellas. We were like most all inclusive but you had to reserve a dinner table in the evening, if cause your on holiday and forgot, you get a slight telling off. I mean!! behaviour so childish. If there was a family with kids, forget the service, at times there were 5 waitress fussing over them and everyone else is waiting!! My negative side could go on forever, I don't have the time! It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we decided from the beginning we was not going to celebrate at that hotel, we found a lovely place out. But we know we will never return to that hotel. NEVER!!

A peaceful place with friendly staff.

60darthg (Beamsville, Canada) on May 08, 2026

This hotel is located between Bridgetown and Holetown, on the west coast. It has easy access to public transit, which is safe and reliable. It is a short ride to the shops of Holetown and the action of The Gap. Such an easy check in with Anisha and Zoe. All the lobby staff were helpful and kind. Lovely, peaceful location with a tiny beach that is very calm, sandy and swimmable. Akil, the beach bartender is wonderful and consistently provides excellent service. The lobby bartender had many amazing staff, but Jamar stood out for his friendliness…. really, all the staff were amazing and friendly. The beachfront rooms have an amazing, unobstructed view from floor 1-3. Avoid floor 0 as these rooms look out to the common area patio, affording no privacy. Poolside rooms look out to the adults only pool and are very quiet and peaceful. There were only two issues that we disliked about the hotel. Each meal ends with a fake bill that itemizes what you have, a cost and then asks for your room number and gratuity. When I am on vacation, I prefer to tip in cash, to the staff that I find helpful. I do not want to see a bill when I just spent over $6000 to stay here. The concierge, Antwon, was perhaps the most negative concierge I have encountered at any of the hundreds of hotels I have stayed at. Everything about his body language, eye rolling, hair tossing and so on screamed disrespect. I can appreciate that he is a religious person and, “Lives for God”, but he had a negative attitude towards nightlife and drinking. His entire demeanor around these issues was offensive to us. We wanted information about a tour and all he did was write our names down, hand us the bill and shared no information about what was included…. completely unhelpful. He also seemed to be upset that tourists can partake in duty free shopping. Concierge is not a job for him. If you want a nice clean, quiet place to stay and enjoy swimming, friendly staff and beautiful sunsets, this is the place.

Don’t expect to sleep in clean bedsheets throughout your stay!

Ilga U on Apr 28, 2026

Booked my stay with Waves as a 5 night birthday treat to my partner who had never been to Barbados. Was super excited, booked suite room too. All was well with food and guest service apart from one VERY important thing- housekeeping!!! After our first night i woke up realising that I’ve started my periods as there was some blood stains on the sheets. I’ve found this lovely card to hotel had in our room which states that the resort only changes sheets every 3 days but if a guests would like their sheets changed upon request I should just leave that card on the bed and housekeeping will take care of that. So I did exactly that! ( unfortunately there was a little “gift” left by a bird on our bed the same morning as we totally forgot to close balcony door while we were having our breakfast. After our daily activities returning back to the room everything seemed be ok UNTIL our 2nd morning where I noticed that there’s still some blood stains on the inner sheet? Thought to myself- that’s odd, maybe my partner had scratched himself or maybe me? Didn’t think too much of it went in about our day. Now, woke up on the 3rd morning to see a pillow covered in blood stains from my partner’s cut on his hand. Didn’t think much of it, just left a “change my bedding “ card on the bed again (feeling absolutely mortified and guilty that something like this had happened). I left the card on the bed even tho it was a day 3 where hotel should be changing bedsheets anyway as per their policy. We went on our day and when returned back to room after lunch to take a rest before my partner’s birthday dinner booked later that evening all of a sudden I see a stain from the bird poo and it is in EXACTLY the same spot as it was the 1st morning! VERY strange! I was thinking “how come I have ended up with the same bedsheets even after they’ve been washed and changed? So this prompted me to inspect the bedding. To my absolute HORROR I’ve discovered that our bed linens have NEVER been changed regardless our requests as well as hotel hygiene policies and to make matters even worse the housekeeper had purposely tried to hide the blood covered pillows in a way that we’d not notice it. (The blood stained covered pillows were puffed up and positioned behind the 1st pillow and facing blood towards the bed frame. I immediately went to speak to the hotel manager who was luckily on shift. He seemed great, fast responding and called housekeeping manager to come and see us immediately. They apologised and agreed that this is absolutely unacceptable. They were asking to get the bedding situation rectified immediately to which I refused and asked them to do it whenever we were ere out for dinner that evening to celebrate my partner’s birthday that day/evening. I was assured by the hotel manager that when we’ll be back there will be communication left by him as to what can be done by this unfortunate situation. Upon our return to the hotel after the dinner I checked in with reception staff to see if a message had been left for me to which she responded saying that manager will speak to us in the morning when he starts his shift at 9am. Absolutely shocking as I asked how would he do that as I made him aware that we will not be staying our final night there as had booked flights the very next morning that leave BGI at 6am. She called me to take a seat and wait as she’ll message him and see what the manager say. She was ever so polite and efficient! 10 minutes later she came back to me with a message to pass by the manager to say that the agreement has been made by the management that I’ll be getting a refund for our last night as well as half of the night 4 as their way of an apology and customer satisfaction recovery and will be getting an official email sent to me with the confirmation of that as soon ad the manager will be in the very next morning. Sounds great doesn’t it?! HA!! But you know how the saying goes- if it sounds too good to be true it must be too good to be true. It’s been alsmost a week since we stayed at the resort and I still up to this date haven’t received an official email from the resort management even just to say “sorry” for the whole thing let alone following up the verbal promise of compensation. I’ve reached out to the resort twice via Expedia app where it says “contact the hotel” and Waves have complete ignored my communication. To make matters worse they’ve asked me to *rate my experience with them. So before I would do such a thing I resent the same email to them with hope that they’ll respond and I wouldn’t have to write all about my experience. To make matters even worse I checked with my back and Waves hadn’t even returned my deposit that I paid in my arrival (the usual security deposit that hotels take when you arrive) I had no choice but to get Expedia involved and can honestly say that they’ve been absolutely AMAZING in handling this matter and I have my promised refund as well as my security deposit back within a matter of 72 hours. Thank you Expedia! Have I received any communication from the Waved resort? Still upon to today- absolute silence . Absolutely appalling customer care which is a shame as the waiting staff and all other staff were absolutely fantastic.

Great location with great staff

SiameseTomCat (Ipswich, United Kingdom) on Apr 08, 2026

Only stayed for a day after a cruise, but found this to be a very nice property with a great position on the beach and a really nice adult only pool across the road. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The sea when were were there was very calm and looked great for swimming, this is certainly not the case in some other hotels like the Hilton Resort that we stayed at before the cruise, where it was too rough to go in. We would definitely consider staying here for a few days before our next cruise.
