Beautiful Barbados!

intaplatt on Jan 30, 2023

Beautiful setting, people, rooms and food! Access to the other Marriott hotels along the coast via the free hotel water taxi but none are a patch on the Waves! Free yoga, pilates, and even water sports on the beach! Different menu each day and lovely A-la-carte meals with waiter service each night. Drinks and cocktails are lovely and there is just a really nice atmosphere around the hotel. I would love to go back one day!

Great Hotel

Rick19925 on Jan 29, 2023

Great hotel, it's my third time there. Staff are fantastic, food is great and the drinks service on the beach is also great. The sea is very nice, each time i've been there have been approx 3/8 days where there have been no watersports due to waves. The watersports guys are very helpful and accommodating whenever they can open. I would advise avoiding the jet skis, had an issue with the jet ski and the jet ski man got quite aggressive, despite it not being my fault. It's worth noting the jet skis are not part of the hotel. Some of the woodwork and general finishes around the hotel could do with a refresh, it doesn't look like much maintenance has been done since I started going in 2018. I think it should be an adults only hotel, Crystal cove is more suitable for children.

Relaxing Get Away

babaies0109 (Camberley, United Kingdom) on Jan 26, 2023

I should have written this review when I got back early December but time just got in the way!! What a lovely hotel, the food and amenities where spot on. But its the staff here that make it. I've been lucky enough to be visiting Barbados for over 50 years and the staff here are the kindest and friendliest I've come across. I wish I could remember some of the names of the staff as they all deserve a shout out. Food was of good standard, particularly on A la Carte nights. Coffee shop is great too, but not good for the waist line as trying to ignore those cakes and biscuits was very hard. We had a sea front room for 3 people and it was plenty big enough. If your budget allows I would suggest one of these rooms as the road facing room can be noisy. The adult only rooms where over the road in another complex but I thougt these to be a bit on the dark side . The beach is well served with a bar/staff who regularly came round with refreshments and ice creams. Lots of water sports on offer and it's a nice bonus to have the water taxi which takes you to the other hotels in the group along the coast. The beach is on the small side, particularly when the waves are strong and during our stay quite a bit of the beach was washed away. I understand they are going to put some sort of break in the water soon to try and reduce this problem. All in all we had a wonderful time and hope one day to return.

An absolute gem.

Katrina Z on Jan 26, 2023

I was almost apprehensive to compose this review because I don’t want others discovering how utterly fantastic Waves is. Albeit the hotel itself is a bit tired this is completely made up for in delicious food, a beautiful beach, wonderful water sports and AMAZING SERVICE. My mother and I have travelled extensively throughout the world and within the Caribbean - never have we been so impressed. The people were absolutely lovely and we were always greeted with a smile. This is absolutely NOT the resort for you if you want to party and drink until the wee hours of the morning. If you are, however, looking for some great R&R and an escape from a cold winter… get your chilly butt here fast! A special thank you / shout out to: Mali, Sabrina, Charmaine, Jennifer, Rhys, Valerie, Shermarke (I’m so sorry if I spelt this incorrectly) and Jakobi - you made our annual Mother Daughter trip an awesome experience. We will be back!!!

Great relaxing holiday

George H (Belfast, United Kingdom) on Jan 24, 2023

We spent a week here for a special birthday and had a great time. Arrived late evening on a Saturday and were presented with a cocktail. Reception had booked a slot at dinner for us. We are vegetarian and have had multiple experiences of limited options at other hotels. This was not the case here. There were 2 strong starters and mains with the option of a separate veggie menu. We never actually had to order off the veggie menu as we were always satisfied with the options on the main menu. Dishes were thoughtfully constructed and well presented. House wine was Chilean. Decent enough. Plenty of refills offered. Breakfast buffet was very good. Omelette station or fried or poached eggs. Various additions. Fried plantain beans fried potatoes hash browns. Meat for the omnivores. Lovely English muffins. Bagels and toast, fresh fruit cereals yoghurt. Enough to keep you going all day. Wellness juice on offer as well as orange and other juices. We found the fresh fruit very good quality. Lunch options were a very good buffet in seascape or a more snacks salad wrap panini at the coffee shop. Both very good. Seascape had a Mediterranean buffet and a Bajan buffet on two nights again very good veggie options. We tried the Shiso oriental restaurant one night. It is quieter we had tempura veg and a vegetarian noodle dish and a curry. Tempura was good. Noodle dish and curry disappointed. Very one dimensional. Only food disappointment of the week. Option of the beach or 2 pools for sunbathing. Lots of availability for loungers at the beach. Good water sport activities if required. Lollipops and frozen grapes on offer and friendly staff offering drinks. Good quality. Pool on spa side is quieter and child free. More limited loungers but always got one. Child friendly pool on hotel side also a nice spot especially in mornings. Hotel is not adult only but just a few infants and very small children when we were there. Staff were very friendly especially Kevin and Ryan. On one day when it rained board games quickly appeared. Did the island tour with Max. A great experience and also a swimming with turtles trip which was also good fun and not too long . Both 50 usd. Evening entertainment was local singers singing over a backing track. Finished around 1030 Plenty of US channels on the TV with the Australian open being a bonus and the odd premiership game. Found the spa difficult to access. We had several free treatments to use but ultimately couldn’t get an appointment even when trying to upgrade these to a deluxe treatment that we would happily have paid for. Left my details with the spa twice with the assurance reception would contact me with a suitable appointment. None forthcoming. Possibly if I had been more forceful in my request it could have been resolved but I was here for a holiday not confrontation. It didn’t spoil my holiday. All in all a great holiday. Clientele friendly and not too boisterous. Mainly couples or extended families or women with friends, a few singletons mainly people in their 50s-60s but a few younger. Nowhere local to go for entertainment but suited us fine. Returned feeling relaxed rested and a few kilos heavier. I have seen a few reviews mentioning that accomodation was a bit tired. Possibly but with such lovely friendly reception and waiting staff you soon forget a loose toilet roll holder. Thank you Waves for some happy memories !
