Highly recommended.

Huge thanks to Grotto Bay for an amazing family holiday! We had a brilliant time swimming and snorkelling just off the hotel beach, taking kayaks out to explore further afield, and a motorboat into Castle Harbour. Taking a dip in the beautiful cave was the perfect way to cool off, and a massage in the Spa was very relaxing. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming and made our stay really special. Special thanks to Miss Connie in the shop; my son said her teaching him a little about her job was his favourite bit of the holiday! Also to Raymond, Matthew, and Veronica as well as the many other staff who seemed to be there morning, noon, and night for the duration of our stay and were all lovely. Food and drinks with the all inclusive was all very tasty and it made day to day logistics very easy. The bus pass was a great way to explore the island.

5 Star Customer Service

Picturesque beach resort in Bermuda with outstanding customer service. June Ann was the epitome of friendly and knowledgeable service and improved the quality of our stay immensely. She was quite pleasant and knew every little bit of Bermuda. We absolutely will return in the near future!

If Paradise had a name it would Be Grotto Bay Resort in Bermuda!

An INCREDIBLE time at Grotto Bay Beach Resort and Spa even better than last year which we didn't think was possible. IMPECCABLE service, friendly and wonderful staff all stems from the top by the general Manger Rob De Bekker! I would see him early in the morning checking the pool and beach area even opening umbrellas himself, being so kind to the workers doing their job early in the morning ,welcoming guests as they arrive( as he did to us) and coming over to check on guests at the restaurants. He was EVERYWHERE! He CERTAINLY is a hands on manager making sure the guests had a wonderful stay... that's why the hotel runs so smoothly. We TRULY recognized and appreciated all his hard work! I would like to mention some of the staff we felt were exceptional. Matthew and Glady who we loved last year as well were FABULOUS! We were happy to see them again. Servers:Esteban, Vinay and Nadira (she's so sweet and was her first week) as well as Veronica the hostess who we loved last year as well and Raymond at the host desk. Not only did they all remember us, but we were amazed they remembered our room number at each meal given the enormity of the guests on property! Jewel and Eka making omlettes were great too remembering my order each day! Impressive! I missed them this morning when I had to make breakfast myself, ha! ha! I had a warm bamboo massage twice by Noyman in the cave which was a unique experience and he was TERRIFIC adding enjoyment to our trip! Michael L by the fitness center was so helpful. Besides being so personable, he told us of his favorite beaches to explore and how to get there so we found Coopers Beach( we were the ONLY ones on the ENTIRE beach),Turtle Bay and Clearwater which we didn't go to last year and were SO glad we did! We went to Tobacco Bay and Horseshoe Bay last year. The beaches in Bermuda are STUNNING each breathtaking in their own way as well as the one at the hotel. All easy to get to by bus across the street and bus passes are included with the all inclusive package .Kionne at the bar was nice as well. Michael by the waterfront and the teenager who works with him(I forgot his name they were both there last year) were incredibly supportive and kind and encouraged me to paddle board and I had success which was THRILLING!!! We find at all inclusive resorts the food to be mediocre but the food was restaurant quality at dinner( we skip lunch) and the desserts were DELICIOUS each one better than the next! We hope to return next year same time and look forward to seeing the new editions completed. The view from the room was certainly something cheerful and breathtaking to wake up to each morning that's for sure and the bed is SUPER comfy as are the sheets and pillow! The two different beach buffet special dinners with live music were great, the DJ at night was LOTS of fun, the water playstation floating in the water with a slide, trampoline, wall to climb up etc. was lots of fun as well. Kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling, and indoor swimming pool in a cave...this place has it all for couples as well as families. Nice pool too. A five minute walk to Blue Hole which shouldn't be missed and five minute walk the other way to the iconic Swizzle Inn! The PERFECT location and stress free trip. We are counting the days to go back!

Already planning our next Bermuda trip!!!!

P S on Jul 08, 2024

Firstly, the resort is beautiful, clean and looks well maintained. My lovely, thoughtful wife booked this place for my 50th birthday??. The resort is a just a short taxi drive from the airport which is a huge plus IMO, especially after dealing with the many stressors associated with flying. Taxi ride from airport: Our taxi driver, Dion, was awesome ??. He offically welcomed us to Bermuda as this was our first visit. Dion was very friendly and upbeat. He gave us helpful tips ranging from the various beaches to visit as well as local places to try out bermudian cuisine either for a quick bite or a longer sit down experience. Arrival at front door: Once we arrived at the resort our luggage was unloaded by resort door person, Greg ??. He was lively, upbeat and very helpful. Greg welcomed us to Bermuda and Grotto Bay Resort (GBR) and promptly asked if we would like something to drink????. Greg assured us our luggage would be delivered to our room by him personally. He even offered to answer any questions we may have now or even later about the 'happenings' in Bermuda. Check-in: The front desk staff were ALL amazing ????. But I must mention and thank those by name that we had more than casual contact with during our 6-day stay. Linni & (can't recall the other lady's name who assisted)?????? were very friendly, welcoming and genuinely patient with us during our check-in, talking and joking as we experienced a CC snafu that took a moment or two for me and my wife to get sorted out. During our stay: Ashley???? in conceige was awesome going above and beyond searching the Island on the web for availability for us to rent either a side-by-side or Twizzy electric vehicle. She eventually found a place to rent a scooter the following day and then assisted us with the booking process to rent a electric vehicle in the coming days. Thanks again Ashley ?? Jaz ???? good looking out on those ?? passes which enable us to do some exploring and sight seeing early on of Bermuda. Much appreciated, big brother ?? Veronica ???? Thank you for greeting us by name and your hospitality each morning during breakfast. Indian guy ?? (whose name escapes me right now) He worked the omelet station during our stay each morning for breakfast. Best damn egg white omelets quick I've ever tasted ??. Thanks again for digging out Salsa for my eggs. Romanian guy - bartender?? (whose name also escapes me right now) on my next visit bro (drinks on me ??) you've gotta explain to me once again how you took a left turn rather than a right turn and ended up in Bermuda...all the way from Romania ???? Micah - massage therapist ???? I will be sure to schedule in advance a crystal cave massage by you on my next trip to Bermuda ??. Thank you for pausing your personal phone call to answer my questions and try and find away to work me into your schedule the day of. Vernee - housekeeper for our room??. Kept our room very clean, neat and organized ??????. She also arranged my 50th birthday balloons each day so they displayed correctly ?? Check-out: Jimmy - Taxi driver/Grotto Bay Resort extrodenaire! Small stature guy with a HUGE personality ??. Thank you for all the recommendations and suggestions during our stay ???? Finally, the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars. The items listed are annoyances...NOT...complaints ?? Room: Small room for 2 double beds BUT functional for staging clothing for wearing the next day. Water pressure was low. If you are anything like me, a good, strong, hot shower IS MY morning coffee. Desk to chair height should be addressed immediately ?? When sitting down to do whatever at the room desk and then scooting the chair up to the desk to properly and comfortably be seated. I would hit both knees on the bottom edge of the pull out desk drawer causing me to curse in a number of unknown tongues. ?????? GBR is situated on a hill, not some super steep hill or anything like that, but after drinking several shots of whiskey and smoking a cigar or two sitting out in the sun at the edge of the water, the VERY last thing you want to do is jump on the concrete stair master, walk slightly up hill to your room AND THEN up a few more steps to your room...now I'm sober again AND sweating profusely ????. No microwave in our room and just a mini fridge. So to be clear it's not even college dorm room style where there is at least a mini freezer on top ??????? Double bed rooms have a extended thick wooden base which is typical of platform beds. The platform is helpful when putting on shoes and such, but in the middle of the night heading to the bathroom after having whiskey...or not...you WILL bang your salt-water-softened ankles on that thick wooden base and again curse in a number of unknown tongues. ???????? Bermuda: Everything just about in Bermuda is AIRPORT PRICES so get over it! Our strategy, buy the resort all you eat breakfast buffet, eat hardy, drink tons of water or coconut water, and have light snacks (nuts, trail mix, fruit) handy between large meals. It is super difficult to find food after 9:30 - 10pm most anywhere in Bermuda; even room service at night was most problematic ??. But on the plus side you can drink to 2am or 3am or so at most pubs which are still open.....see the problem there??? ?? ???????? ?? ?????? ?? ???? ?? ??....you can call a taxi....but we were HUNGRY and just really wanted a meal ?? ??

Three generous stars.

This was my 10th trip to Bermuda and second at Grotto Bay (first time was back in 2011, so a lot has changed). To start off, we booked our hotel (2 connected rooms) over a month in advance. Before arriving I had called the hotel on three different occasions to ask for our rooms to be easily accessible since we had three toddlers (especially easy to access beach and pool). Each time we were told “we have your note on file”. When we arrived the front desk the man checking us in didn’t provide any information on the hotel grounds, or restaurants or meal packages. He was not helpful at all. When we got to our rooms (Long story short), we were the furthest away one could possibly get from the beach and pool, and this made our stay so difficult! The journey back to our room caused one of my toddlers heat exhaustion on our second day (which ended up being a waste of a day). Some other cons included us waiting over 40 minutes for anyone on wait staff to take our dinner order (this was for a 6:30pm reservation) before our dinner even came, the people around us were already on dessert. Obviously frustrated, we didn’t end up having time to finish our food, and had to leave to put our tired and very patient toddlers to bed. It turned out nobody knew who was suppose to be waiting our table. The staff seemed unorganized. When going to the beach, some mornings there were no towels available or no beach chairs available to sit in. And there was nobody to help you out on the beach (just a lady “pretending” to broom, the stairs, who wouldn’t greet or acknowledge us, even when we said excuse me to ask a question about the property, she simply pretended she didn’t hear us). Overall, on the property, we only found one or two employees who were genuinely helpful once (helping us carry our toddlers wagon down the stairs so we wouldn’t have to take the long hilly way down or back). I’m giving this review three generous stars because the property is pretty, but overall the service was very inconsistent, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend coming here with toddlers.
