Club Membership-Horrible Experience
Adriana S on Jul 06, 2025
I am dealing with a situation months later where the department at Iberostar have given me such a hard time with cancelling the club membership. We went in May, agreed to and signed on for the lowest tier membership. I had some reservations but felt OK about it. Once back home (it was a short 3 night stay). It kept bothering me so I did research and saw several other negative experiences online. I go to sign in for the first time to the club website and come to find the 'club only' discounted rates are sometimes even higher than going to the general public website! This was concerning, I crossed reference and asked a club staff member (on WhatsApp) about this and he told me it could take up to 7-10 days after your membership for "club only' rates to actually show up on the club members site. This makes no sense and was not mentioned prior, just odd. That same day I send in my notice of cancellation within 5 business days from signing up, and a different staff member (on WhatsApp) tries to argue it is 5 days total not business even though the contract clearly stated business. Then 1-2 days later a different staff member emails me offering a partial refund of the down payment with a wordy document that I had to signed. This document stated I couldn't share my opinion online of the matter...Wow. This document also had confusing verbiage regarding if I had or will submit a dispute. If they would have just done the right things by being honest, and initially stating "ok it is within the 5 days we will follow-up regarding the refund, here is our purposed refund please confirm" (with simple written verbiage) then I would not have had to dispute!! Why would I wait around and let you keep my money especially due to being unsatisfied with the service and initially being told no refund? Then you offer me a majority of the down payment refunded but on confusing and uncomfortable terms?? Disputes take a while to settle unfortunately and if the dispute is withdrawn you can't really submit another one and there was no guarantee they would give me even the partial refund and I don't feel comfortable signing such a settle document. To top it off the dispute remains and they charged me for the first monthly payment July 1st. I reach out again explaining my frustration overall and with the charge. They dare to tell me a charge has not been made, take no accountability or acknowledge their wrongdoings. I don't understand, I simply wanted to not have to deal with this anymore but it keeps going and unfortunately they also have my partner's card on file. Seems they will continue charging either once the dispute settles or I have to sign some document or we literally have to get new cards over this. Overall we had a good time at the resort but this really ruined it and it is upsetting because we went for a Baby-moon :(. Just say no to membership and go about your trip.
