BEWARE: Poor Customer Service and Room Quality

kristind90 (Kekaha, Hawaii) on Feb 07, 2025

We normally stay at the Disneyland Hotel; however this time we decided to give the newly renovated Pixar Place Hotel a try. We stayed at the Pixar Place hotel from Jan. 14 - 18, 2025. We reserved a Premium View Room which according to our travel agent, should have guaranteed us a view of Park. Our travel agent also contacted Disney directly prior to our arrival to ensure that we were set. Upon checking in, were placed on the 8th floor with a view in the direction of the park, which consisted mainly of the rooftops across the street. The only thing visible of the actual park was that of the tall rock at Radiator Springs. I called the front desk to request a higher floor since that's what were were paying for, but and instead was quickly informed by the front desk agent that our reservation was for a view of the pool, not the park. She then proceeded by offering to upgrade us for an additional $75 night, which I declined and stated that I would speak with my travel agent in the morning. Around 15-20 minutes later, I received a call back for the front desk. This time it was another agent. The gentleman appolgized for the the issue and then stated that he could move us to the 11th floor at no charge. Needless to say we gladly accepted. However, as we repacked our belongings to begin the room move, the agent called back to notify us that the room that we'd be moving to was also and ADA room. When asked what the difference was, the agent stated "it's mainly the roll in shower". Given that info, we proceeded to the front desk to get our new keys. (Although, based on the info that previous agent provided, he technically could have placed us in another normal room instead of that ADA room; since according his co worker it was available for an additional "$75 night"). I guess they were too focused on the upsale that they forgot about the customer service aspect. To our surprise, the ADA room was significantly different (shower, beds, closet, desk, etc.) and also lacked the sofa couch that the other room had, which would have been useful for a family with two children, such as ours. On the second night, we returned back late from the parks. We we all tired. As I showered, I noticed that the shower drain began to overflow and the water quickly overflowed out into the bathroom. Luckily my husband was able to clear the drain (which was disguisting) and we were able to dry to floors - Definitely not something that you'd want to do on your vacation. To make matters worse, we were unable to fall asleep due to all of the noise coming from surrounding rooms. The walls at this hotel are so thin that when the baby next door cried, it sounded as if he/she was in the room with us. Then, in the wee hours of the morning, there were thumping footsteps coming from the floor above and sounded as if a child was running up and down the room/hallway. During our last night there, safety also became a concern, as the front door didn't seem secure. We noticed that when all of the lights in the room were turned off, we could still see light coming in from the hallway. There appeared to be a gap between the wall and the door frame. This is honestly not the type of service and room quality that I've come to expect from a Disney Hotel. We could have stayed at a GNH with better service, room quality, and paid way less. Our stay here was extrememly disappointing. It's unfortunate that this was our first impression of this hotel and likely our last.

Across the street from DCA, that's about it.

Bin F (Tampa, Florida) on Jan 01, 2025

across the street from DCA. lots of Pixar elements across the hotel. There's a designated entrance to DCA for Hotel Guests. For Disneyland you will have to go to downtown Disney to use either the monorail or the entrance at the other end of the downtown Disney. It's really pricy. We can get a suite in Westin 1 mile away with the same price.

Birthday at Disneyland

Allen C (Los Angeles, California) on Dec 31, 2024

The hotel is very nicely updated with a lot of Pixar characters and pictures. The bathroom was very nicely redone. The animators lounge provided decent refreshments throughout our stay. The elevators were extremely confusing and slow. The hotel could also benefit from additional soundproofing given the clientele that stays there.

BEST Hotel Experience.

Akira221 (Los Angeles, California, United States) on Dec 27, 2024

My family and I stayed here for one night from 12/26-12/27/2024 and let me tell you how beautiful the experiece was. So we arrived very early around 0600 to get in line to enter Disneyland California Adventure park, and days earlier, I was told to just drop off our luggage at the bell hop desk and we can be on our way because our room will most likely not be ready until check in time which would be around 1500/3PM. This was not the case because upon checking in, we were told that our room WAS ready and that we would be able to stow our gear there. Upon entering the room, the giant TV read " The Sawada Party" , which was a beautiful touch , and from turning on the lights, we realized what a GEM we booked. The room in itself was clean, smelled great , spacious and was way more than what we expected. The bathroom was immaculate and the shower was just AWESOME to have after a long cold day. Dinner at the Great Maple was both beautiful and delicious. All I can tell you, is that the burger is something you need to try. Checking in and checking out was a breeze. We didnt check out the pool area due to the cold weather but do plan to come back in the summer. Cheers!

4 star Hotel 5 Star Disney experience

reddyrider2016 (Medford, Oregon) on Dec 27, 2024

Just returned from a four night stay yesterday. I’m happy to say that our family of three thought it was a great choice for our stay. I had been to Disneyland previously as a child, but I have not returned for many years. So while I consider myself a fan of Disney, I am not a “super fan”. (Meaning, I don’t go annually, don’t have Magic Key annual passes, don’t know all of the characters and theming by heart, don’t wear special themed coordinated family Disney outfits, etc, etc). Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just mentioning. + Hotel + I had never been to the previous incarnation before the remodel, but all I can say is that the remodel must have cured all ailments. It was clean, fresh, modern….it appeared brand new. The common areas as well as the room felt new. Beds were comfortable and bathroom counter space was ample. + Reception + Greeted immediately, by two people. Check in was smooth and the cast member was very informative. The pianist from the Disney movie Soul was playing the baby grand in the lobby. Awesome start. There was a little mis-information given about the pool “Small Bytes” snack shop still serving food until the end of the fireworks show (not true, they stopped serving food at 2pm). But other than this, we experienced a great reception and check in. + The Dreaded Elevators + If you read TA reviews (and you do, because you’re reading this one), you’ll see a bunch of negative comments about the elevators. I didn’t find them so dreadful at all. YES, they are non-traditional in that you enter the floor level you’re needing, then it tells you which of the four elevators to enter to take you to that chosen floor. You do not jump into the most convenient elevator, or the first to appear ready, hoping to choose your floor once in. If you understand this going in, you won’t be frustrated at all. As far as them being “slow”, as some TA posters have written, I’ll concede they are, at peak times. But I’ve found this to be true at any busy full-house hotel I’ve ever been to. That’s a byproduct of a lot of people needing an elevator at the same time…..not a result of a non-typical elevator system. + Location + We loved it. We thought it was great. To the TA reviewers who say “the extra cost to stay at a Disney property is a waste of money because there are some non-Property hotels that are closer to the main gates” I’ll say this: you are correct, in reference to the main gates only. But this doesn’t account for other location-related factors such as the special Key-coded Pixar Place entrance to California Disney, right across the street. We were literally in DCA within 3 minutes of leaving our room. Nor does it account for the short 4 or 5 minute walk to Downtown Disney’s shops and restaurants. Or the 6 minute walk to the Monorail entrance. Or being 2 minutes away from entering the Grand California’s massive lobby and grabbing a drink by the fireplace and chilling to live Christmas music. These other factors added up for us and made the location choice completely worth it. + Park Hopper + A no-brainer. Do it. + Lightening Pass + A no-brainer. Do it. Especially if you have kids. We could not believe some of the stand-by wait times for those who did not have the lightening pass. 2+ hours at times. Way too long of wait times for us to have tolerated. The lightening pass is worth its weight in gold.
