stay was good, the food needs improvement. the buffet food didn't have a lot of good taste. needs to be able to reserve other restaurants with time.

Beautiful location & fun holiday.. but resort needs some upgrades

Tamara G (Ottawa, Canada) on Jun 16, 2024

Overall, I loved my time in Huatulco (the best part of Mexico), and enjoyed the resort - great people, amazing beaches and a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. My Beach Club Suite was spacious and comfy...but no hot (or even warm) water all week was not so fun, especially when splurging for the fancier room. Efforts to fix this had little effect. Staff throughout the resort were friendly and helpful - with the exception of check-in, where important information was not well communicated. It was not explained that you had to make dinner reservations each day by 5pm - in person, at the concierge - or you would not be allowed into restaurants; this does not apply to the large buffet restaurant, but this also was not communicated... meaning my first night was spent with a small bag of complimentary room chips. Check-in staff should provide all of this in a hand-out to every guest; it would be great if restaurant reservations could be done through an e-portal too. Across the 5 restaurants, the food quality is fine - not terrible, not fabulous, but reasonable for resort fare. The transportation system is great - and the cart drivers were always accommodating. Same with restaurant & bar staff - all were friendly & helpful. I also loved visiting the closest town, La Crucecita - there are good restaurants (and some nice cold local drinks) and fun shopping for Oaxacan crafts & souvenirs. And importantly, it is perfectly safe to take a taxi from the stand on the main square - something not taken for granted in all parts of the country. As a final word: travelling solo at a resort is a bit unusual, but this resort is so friendly and has such a chill, cheerful vibe that it was still very fun, with lots of good-humoured Canadians to chat with anytime.

Thank you Las Brisas, you outdid yourself!

This was our first time to Las Brisas Huatulco. After arriving at the airport and getting onto the transfer bus, which was FULL, we thought the bus would stop at other resorts before Las Brisas, but no! The entire bus got off at Las Brisas. That says something about how popular this place is and how many people keep returning. The downside of this was that it took a LONG time to check in. We were Brisas Beach Club and thought maybe we would have a private check in, but we did not. It was HOT and HUMID. The next time we come to this resort we will definitely take a private transfer. The front desk staff were very friendly and we were off to our room within an hour or so. Our room was in the MAR section, the Bering Building. The room was spacious, the view unobstructed, full ocean view. Our room was absolutely perfect. The A/C worked perfectly, coffee delicious, east facing so you could always sit on the balcony. Our maid ALWAYS made up our room before lunch and it was spotless! We had heard that there was a LOT of walking at this resort, but a friend suggested to us, as they had been here before, to pack up all your beach/pool gear for the day and take it down at breakfast and avoid going back and forth to your room until you are ready to go back before supper. We did this, walked down to the Mexican buffet for breakfast every morning, possibly a 5 minute walk, and from there got our spot on the beach for the rest of the day. We spent our days on the beach, the snorkelling beach and the middle beach. Every afternoon around 1 PM you are entertained by the grey squirrels looking for food or drink from unsuspecting tourists, or the chachalacas strolling through the loungers! The water was lovely, clean, clear and a perfect temperature for swimming. We walked over to the activity beach but never sat there, we preferred the middle beach. We were incredibly impressed by the cleanliness of this resort, the lush grounds, the available areas under palm trees on the grass to have your loungers and how FRIENDLY all the staff were. The grounds are spectacular. There are many little spots for you to put your plastic drink glasses along the walkways and all your recyclable items. Special thank you to Juan for taking the time to talk with us, making sure we found a nice lounger and keeping the beach and loungers clean. Such a kind man. We tried all the a la carte restaurants, and both buffets. Our favourite was the Mediterranean, which we went to at least 4 times out of our 2 week stay! My husband would go there every night! Exceptional food and service and it is air conditioned! We tried the Mexican and the Kasbah only once. The Mexican was pretty good and we would definitely try it again. The Kasba is not as comfortable to sit for too long, and unfortunately the service was really slow. Our food was just okay there. We went to the Solarium three times. I would NOT recommend the steak, but everything else was delicious! This restaurant is NOT air conditioned, so quite hot and humid. We tried La Pescador a few times and loved it, scrumptious food, terrific service but again very hot and humid. We would go to each a la carte again if we come back and we would recommend all of them. Now, the highlight of our day was after a nice long walk after supper, we would stop at the Mexican bar before heading up the hill to our room. Fermin, the bartender made the best margaritas! We would sit at the little tables by the beach, listening to the waves and enjoying our drinks. Fermin always had a smile for us, always gave exceptional service. What a true gentleman. He made an impression, thank you for making our day! We took the shuttles only to the a la carte for supper. We would call the front desk, and they had the shuttle for you within 2-5 minutes. So easy, and drivers are friendly! We only took the shuttles once a day, or if we went to town and had too much to carry, we would take a shuttle to our room. The walk up to the Mar section is all uphill, but only 5 minutes or so from the Mexican buffet/a la carte. It is a good little workout, but definitely required after eating!!! This resort has lots of pickleball courts, and it seems to have an active group of pickleball enthusiasts! We did not play because it was too hot, we preferred the ocean or the adult pool to keep cool! Another special recognition goes to Julio, our West Jet rep. Oh my goodness is he attentive and knowledgeable. He always had time for you, and all the guests, greeting each and every one, and making sure we all got on the us when it was time to leave. He has been there for many years, and he truly cares about the guests. Thank you Julio. He stood out and we really appreciated his service, his love of the resort and area and his knowledge. Most days we had lunch at La Pergola because it opened around 12-12:30 and we prefer to eat then not at 1 PM at the main buffet. Exceptional service here by Alan and Juvenita and Enalberto (not sure of the spelling, but a very kind, professional waiter). We truly loved our lunches here, even though it is not air conditioned, and you would be dripping with sweat, the service and the food was just perfect! The beach waiters and waitresses were fantastic! Special thanks to Francisco! We loved visiting with you! Mexican breakfast waiters, Ricardo and Alan - exceptional service! The view at the Mexican for breakfast overlooks the ocean, and is the best way to start your day! I know there are so many other staff members to thank, but catching your names sometimes was a bit tricky without staring! We never went on the bird watching tour at 7:00 AM but plan to the next time we come here! This resort is absolutely fantastic, we will return as long as the prices don't go too sky high! We prefer the Las Brisas Beach Club because we want an a la carte every night. We enjoyed the Brisas Beach Club lounge but wished it had longer hours. We would love to have stopped in after supper on our way back to our room and sit and enjoy a drink, but it closed at 7:00 PM, I believe. One suggestion would be to keep the BBC lounge open longer at night, and if you are BBC could you have a separate check in. I could go on and on about this amazing resort, but you will just have to come here yourself and check it out! Thank you to ALL the staff for one of the best vacations we have had! The staff really make it memorable, and you did just that. Dave and Laurinda Heiberg

Not worth the money

simonolivares777 (Huatulco, Mexico) on Jun 01, 2024

Very bad customer service and overpriced for quality of property. Location and layout is nice, but wouldn’t recommend for people with poor mobility. Is not easy to go from place to place, you need to take the provided transportation which if you’re lucky you can catch within 10 minutes, but sometimes you can wait over 30 minutes. I don’t think it’s worth the money you pay for. Be careful “All inclusive” doesn’t mean everything is free.
