We stayed in unit 717 and it felt like home! Communication with the owners was amazing from the start - every email was answered nearly immediately. We travel frequently and this unit was the most stocked with every essential item you would need from housewares, spices, ziplocks, utensils, beach chairs, pool floaties, snorkel equipment, games, books ,etc…. You get the picture. Speaking of picture - the floor to ceiling windows allowed for hours of just viewing the ocean, islands and sea turtles from the living room. If you like to lounge at the pool it is cleaned constantly by staff, the water is heated and you are right next for the ocean. We had every intention of visiting several nearby beaches to snorkel but realized snorkeling right from shore in front of the condo gave us amazing swims with sea turtles and beautiful fish. And why not play some pickleball on the court. As previously stated we travel a lot and this property is heads above any unit we’ve stayed in.

Views are AMAZING!!!

We had a wonderful stay in Mahana 1107. The views cannot be beat!!! We saw turtles from our lanai every day and the sunsets were gorgeous. The Mahana isn’t a resort and is probably more suited to adults than young children, but as a result it is quiet and was perfect for a couples escape. We cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Maui and are anxious to return next year. There are two ways to stay at the Mahana – book through Aston/Costco/Expedia and get assigned a unit at check in or book through VRBO/Airbnb/property manager and choose your own unit ahead of time. Each unit is individually owned so there is great variation in the furnishings and style of each unit. There are upsides and downsides to each approach, but we prefer being able to choose a unit with the specific amenities we want and knowing if we will get an updated unit. The potential downside to renting a specific unit is that if something goes wrong, Aston Mahana cannot just move you into a different unit. Travel insurance is extra important if booking a specific unit. If you will be traveling to the Mahana in 2024 or 2025 please be aware of the construction project going on (roofing and HVAC). We were in the Molokai tower (not the one currently being worked on) and did not experience any construction noise or problems from the project currently happening in the Lanai tower. That is not a guarantee that there won't be noise or dust in the coming weeks as the project moves along, but we heard nothing over 10 days, so it certainly isn't a constant. I would recommend avoiding the Lanai tower (units ending in 11-19) until the AC is functional again and no more hot water interruptions. They are scheduled to do the same repairs to the Molokai tower (units ending in 01-09) next year so if you are booking a specific unit do your homework and find out if you will be impacted before your stay. Finally, our unit was very clean and we had no pest issues. We did take the garbage out each night as recommended (and our unit included enough garbage bags to do so) and made sure not to leave out food and clean up any spills promptly. I was a little concerned given recent reviews but I am happy to report I did not see any bugs during our 10 day stay.

Amazing, memorable first trip to Maui

frediortega (Glendora, California) on Jun 10, 2024

The Aston Mahana did not disappoint. While there were some issues with our first unit, the staff was immediately responsive and put us in a top floor upgraded two-room unit with breathtaking views. The value was incredible, much more affordable than comparable suites in neighboring properties. We would definitely return!

Not satisfied

Yesdjv (Rancho Cucamonga, California) on Jun 06, 2024

Extremely dissatisfied with my recent stay at your hotel. Given your establishment’s 4-star rating, I expected a significantly higher standard of service and cleanliness. Firstly, the staff were unwelcoming and unhelpful throughout my stay. Despite my requests for assistance, including a specific request to have the trash bins emptied after three nights, nothing was done. Additionally, I found cockroaches in the kitchen area, which is utterly unacceptable. I have video footage and photographs to substantiate this claim. Furthermore, the towels were not properly placed in the bathroom but were instead dumped on the kitchen counter in a polythene bag. This level of service is far below what I would expect from a hotel of your supposed caliber. I am deeply disappointed with the overall experience and hope you take immediate action to address these issues.

Pathetic service, false advertisement.

We were informed on the website that we booked on (Expedia) that there is "Housekeeping (on request)." We travel at least once a month outside of the city, and we frequently see this language being used at various motels/hotels. What this means is that when Housekeeping is requested, it is provided. That is NOT the case as the Aston Mahana. We landed on a Wednesday, and we went straight to the beach. Hey, what else do you do in Maui? For a two bedroom, two bathroom Oceanfront suite that sleeps at least 4-6 people, with a full kitchen and deck to space--we'd think here would be more thought into housekeeping services. We asked during Check In to have the room cleaned daily, and were were flatly refused because "they don't have housekeeping." We showed them the language on the website, and they indicated they do not have enough staff to do housekeeping, so they require 24 hour notice to plan housekeeping. Well, we called Thursday for Friday. And Friday for Saturday. In a period of 7 days, 6 nights, we were able to get service done ONLY ONCE. The services at the hotel were so bad, that when the toilet got clogged in suite, we decided to only use the kid's bathroom. If I wanted zero service, I would have booked at the Air BnB or VRBO. This is strictly false advertising, and we expect to get our money back for poor to not service. To add to the injury, they insisted on charging us a "resort fee" for amenities. Which amenities...???? I would hope they use the extra resort funding to procure staff and provide housekeeping like they've falsely advertised.
