Stay away! Gross rooms, but there's penguins in the lobby.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Only pros for this property have nothing to do with the property itself: location is conveniently in Lahaina (assuming you want busy strip mall vibe). I'm in room 382 now and the quality of the room is on par with a spring break La Quinta in Panama City Beach. Wish I was exaggerating. Cheap LED lights, grungy sofa, terribly uncomfortable bed. Everything just feels cheap and dingy. For the dollars you'll spend, please consider elsewhere. Unless you want college spring break vibes. If that's what you're looking for on your Hawaiian vacation, then go ahead. There's zero authentic Hawaiian ambience, as well. The workers look like zombies. The lobby doesn't even smell like Hawaii. The lobby looks more like a Vegas casino than Hawaiian property, but there's penguins for some reason. The carpet is old and gross. The walls are thin. The coffee in the room is awful. Has anything been updated in the past 25 years???? Hawaii is a magical place. The bulk of your trip shouldn't be spent in any hotel room. But if the idea of using the beach rinse-off shower heads is more appealing than your own hotel bathroom, that's telling. Spend your dollars elsewhere. Somewhere that feels, smells, and breathes like a Hawaiian resort. This is a money grab capitalizing on prime location and offering you nothing back in return...besides penguins in the lobby and a cheesy ALOHA sign. I'd honestly rather sleep outside than get in the gross bed. Or maybe even end my vacation short and go home. Spring break in Flora Bama, here we come!
A true Hyatt resort quality

Great location. Very friendly staff. Classy clientele. The pool can get busy at times, but there is much more than the pool to keep you busy.
Incredible Christmas with our family on Maui

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the Hyatt Regency Maui over our Christmas break (7 nights). Our room was clean, spacious and had a gorgeous view of the pool/beach. 2 Queen beds were comfortable, and it was nice to have a relatively large bathroom, dressers/hangers for our clothes and a nice coffee maker/kettle/mini fridge. The small balcony was fantastic for relaxing evenings listening to the waves. We found the amenities to be excellent - we took advantage of the on-site yoga, kids activities (Ukelele lessons were fantastic! Also recommend lei making and hula lessons). We had higher expectations for teh "Tour of the Stars" on-site activity, but part of the reason for that was uncontrollable -- we chose a cloudy night). The pools were great - with a kids pool (with waterslide) as well as adult pool, hot tub -- and our favorite was access to the Hyatt Vacation Club pool which was usually less crowded and more shaded. The pool restaurant menu waslimited, but sufficient -- and is the same menu offered for room service. The resort's location was excellent - just a short walk from mariners village (shops and restaurants) and other resorts/restaurants, and just a short drive from Lahaina. We went into Lahaina to pick up supplies (Safeway is very close), to check out the chocolate factory which offers tours, free tastings and a menu of chocolate-based drinks and for some great local restaurants. Be sure to support the locals who were devastated by the recent wildfires. We booked with Hyatt points, so the value was excellent! Highly recommend for family travelers - we brought our kids (7 and 10) and they had an amazing time.
Very nice resort hotel - would go back.

Our stay was excellent! The whole experience was smooth and the staff in all areas of the hotel were wonderful. The faciliites were in great shape and we really enjoyed small touches like having birds throughout the property. The pools and pool areas were great with options for both adults and children (including a fun water slide). We really enjoyed our stay!
Nice beachfront resort hotel

We had a wonderful time at the Hyatt Regency. The location is nice, even though the Kaanapali area is not as convenient as the Wailea area we have visited before. The hotel amenities are very nice, even though a bit dated. The staff are very professional, cordial and efficient, and made every effort to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. We would recommend the hotel for visitors to the West Maui area.
