RIP- OFF RESORT FREE of $80, AND OUTRAGEOUS $45 DAILY parking rate!

Carl M on Dec 20, 2025

CONS first! 1) This place is so greedy. First- the $45 daily parking rate is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. Shame on you! The parking structure is awful. Someone designed this thing with parking spaces that are WAY TOO SMALL. Most of us have rental cars and have to be careful against door dents, being hit, and more. I had to park on the roof to fit a small Toyota in, and then a very far walk to our room every time. We saw several stupid people backing into (why are you backing into a spot?) parking spaces getting within 1/8 inch of cars! Why do I have to pay ANY money to park here if I am a guest? This hotel has been here since like 1972 so this parking structure fee is a joke and really offensive. 2) The $80 resort fee is also ridiculous. Wow- you get "internet!"- like it's 1995! You get 2-hour bike rental for 2 guests daily if "elite" - but there is no where to ride, and the street is dangerous with traffic once you leave the very long driveway in and out. We were not interested in the other "amenities" like "cultural activites" (the shuttle- why do we need this when we are paying the $45 parking fee). So, with taxes, I was paying like $160 daily for "resort" fees. We only used the pool towels. 3) The biggest negative at the hotel along with the $45 parking rate, is the lack of dining options!!!! The "breakfast" restaurant by the lobby is a MASSIVE rip-off. Ya, there is a Starbucks with an extremely long line daily for "breakfast"- which is more like a snack. The restaurant by the lobby was mostly empty our entire 9 days there due to outrageous pricing. Where are family with kids supposed to eat? 4) The tiny jacuzzi was closed the entire time we were there at night because the light was broken inside. This resort lacks jacuzzis. 5) All the pool cues in the game room were broken. There were several "outsiders" in the game room that were NOT guests. Many of the arcade games were not working. Seriously, you charge like $160 daily resort fee and have broken pool cues! The 6) 4 a.m. NOISE! Got woken up 3 times by hotel employees making noise. One guy was power washing the pool area at 4 a.m. Another morning employee in a golf cart doing landscaping and loud beeping. PROS: Great pools, awesome water slide, and two fabulous beaches! The water slide is awesome. Also- we had a nice view, and really like the balcony with seating and a rack to hang up our towels and bathing suits to dry.

Mixed Experience

anthony r (Calgary, Canada) on Dec 15, 2025

Booked a Garden View, however as a Titanium Elite we were upgraded to "Ocean View" which turned out to be a view of the Lobby, Main Building Roof, Solar Panels and A/C equipment - we ended up asking for the Garden Room back and gave us late checkout (Thanks!). Breakfast voucher a Starbucks was meh - higher end Marriott Properties such as the Mauna Kea do better with a full breakfast. The Adult only Maluhia Pool was a disappointment - typical resort - all chairs taken by 9:00 am, no enforcement. Some jerk had a bluetooth loud speaker blaring over the already piped in xmas music and was drinking beers out of his own cooler. The Pool Attendant didn't really care, he spent at least 2 hours hawking Maui Jims instead of managing the pool. We did manage to get chairs and stayed all day however was not relaxing - reminded of me of a Party Pool at Mexican all-inclusive. On a positive note, we checked out the Olakino Wellness Pool. Savannah invited us in and did a great sales job. We end up spending a 1/2 day there - fantastic!! Highlight of our trip - absolutely outstanding experience. Savannah, Stephan and the other attendant(sorry forgot her name) provided fantastic service. Best part of the Hotel, well done Savannah and Team!
