Overpriced with spectacular views

Stayed here for a week with husband and kids (9 & 13) in Hale 6 - 6214. The room had a great ocean view and was very spacious - king bed, double safa bed and a roll away with still enough space that we didn’t feel crammed in. Got an upgrade given husbands status with Marriott. The views are really amazing and the walking trail is busy at all times of the day and evening. Our room looked into the trail So had to keep curtains drawn. Hawaii is an expensive place and this hotel is no exception. Everything seemed overpriced from the kids meals by the pools to the drinks and breakfast at Whales Tale. We found the yoghurt parfait to be the most cost effective at $11 although a request for a little extra granola cost me an additional $8! Self Car parking is $39 and it was pretty close by. It’s not a beach front hotel - I love sitting by the ocean on the beach but it wasn’t fun here. If all loungers are taken you have to put your name down, wait for a text, go back to the counter to get a ticket, walk 10 mins to the beach, wait to be told which spot opened up, make sure you bring everything you need (towels, water, food) as if you forget something it’s a trek back to get anything. The lounges are packed on top of each other - I sat for 30 mins and decided I wasn’t having fun so left. Not a great experience. The family pools are good - there are two and one has the best view of the ocean and another island. The service is ok. Overall a hotel which benefits from amazing views where everything costs more than it should.

Beautiful, but not worth it the price because of the rooms.

The grounds of this hotel are great, but extremely busy in March. We had a great trip with the exception of our hotel room. We paid for an ocean view, which was not inexpensive. The beds in our room were the worst beds I have ever slept on. They were slanted, so your feet where higher than your head. It was the worst night sleep I have ever had!
