Beautiful Resort with Medium Service
Sean D on Dec 20, 2025
My young child experienced a high fever late at night so I was concerned. The front desk was unable to provide Tylenol either through supplies or via the on-site store which was closed. A high caliber resort should be able to accommodate a small medical request. The customer service at this resort do not feel premium to justify the incredibly high cost. The facility and location is otherwise beautiful and we enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful resort! Not quite a category 8!
mgsquared (Vienna, Austria) on Dec 15, 2025
We're Hyatt globalists and were at this property with our 6 year old son during thanksgiving week. It's not the type of resort where you're likely to get a suite upgrade and we expected as such. We did however get an amazingly located room! I believe it was 3128. A quiet pool area was right outside that was also where the slide and lazy river were. The grand club was just across the path outside. A shortcut to the parking lot was nearby. Even laundry was right there! Absolutely perfect location. Thank you to Eric at the front desk who checked us in and was absolutely lovely! The negatives: - Only one restaurant on the property has decent vegetarian meals (Tidepools). There were some options at the pool restaurant but they were a bit sad (two tacos with a block of tofu on each and that's it for instance). Kauai was in general not a very friendly place for vegetarians. - The club was not good. There is a menu but they wouldn't always stick to it (so you do sometimes not have any vegetarian option). Breakfast was very very basic. The hotel style scrambled eggs that could have been made from powder, some pastries, not even a variety of fruit. No bananas. There was pineapple ONE day on Sunday, like as if it was a special treat? In Hawaii? Staff was ok. Things didn't get refilled quickly and you're immediately told upon walking in if you're too late and they're about to close, etc. The one person that saved the club experience was Erin. She walked around and talked to guests and befriended them- made a point to let me know about gluten free options just from noticing I was bringing my own bread, etc. She was sadly only out two days of the 8. Otherwise in the back which is not the best use of that staff member honestly. - The paths are not always well lit which ended up in a really nasty fall for me. I was trying to swerve a large group blocking the way and ended up not only falling but rolling down a little hill! You can't see it but it's a bit of grass and then woosh! More light would have helped. I am adding a pic of the offending area. My husband hurt his toes badly on the balcony door and security was so lovely and quick to come up with first aid and bandaged him up. I think that one was more a freak accident really! - The pool areas are not cleared up at night but rather in the morning. We went to the pool early only to have our things disappear while we were swimming. Our son's swim ring was even put in the giveaway pile and my husband just happened to see another family walking with it when he went to look for our things. No apologies from the staff. Moments like that and the responses would regular give the feeling that this was not a high end hotel. - A small thing but the steps leading up to the slide HURT. There's some grip mat stuff on them and it's all spiky and sharp. Everyone just dealt with it. - Another small thing- swim ring rentals for the lazy river are not included. Really? At this price? The positives: - As I mentioned before, the property is beautiful. It did not feel dated and you see the ocean right there. The beach is not a safe one for swimming most of the time and there is a large saltwater pool to make up for it. - The parrots are so cute! - There are activities to do throughout the day if you're having a resort day. I think there were a bit less cause we were there thanksgiving week. There were extra things on thanksgiving day though! We did have a lovely week overall! I highly recommend doing a snorkeling tour and plane or helicopter tour. Both were huge hits.
