A True Paradise!

MarloAndMarlon (Laguna Beach, California) on Apr 27, 2024

My fiance and I wanted a quick getaway to relax and we'd never been to Cabo before. With the assistance of a travel agent (my wonderful girl friend from high school), we narrowed down our selection to one. Paradisus Los Cabos! We were greeted upon arrival with the peaceful sound of waterfalls and singing birds. Stepping into the entrance of the main building, we were captivated by the beauty of the modern, chic decor against the azure waters of the Sea of Cortez in the distance. Flora and fauna of Mexico are integrated throughout the property. Clean, breezy walkways made of natural stone, water-conscious plants blooming around every corner, and zen-like designs freshly raked into the sand made us realize that every detail had been considered. As a "Reserve" guest, we had a private check-in area and were able to easily book our dinner reservations for each night of our stay before being led to our room by our concierge, Juventino. We connected with Juventino immediately!!! His bright, fun, friendly demeanor made it so easy! He also listened to every single thing we said. As we talked, he was casually taking notes and made sure to follow up with us. He wanted to ensure that we had everything we needed. He communicated extremely well with my fiance through WhatsApp and was always checking in. We'll get more into how awesome he was in a bit... We had always wanted a swim-up experience and this adults-only, all-inclusive resort offered that option. We live in California and understood going March 29-April 1 that the weather could be a bit chilly and that the pools were unheated. Despite not using the pool or swim-up myself, my man didn't mind the cooler temperature of the water. We enjoyed the peaceful garden view side of the resort near the golf course and our patio was a great place to unwind each day. I appreciated that eco-conscious toiletries were provided, there were REAL plants in the room, and the bed (including pillows and linens) was comfortable. We especially loved that the bed faced the pool/garden/golf course. We liked laying in bed and watching the birds hop along the pool area and enjoyed room service breakfast on the extra-large couch/sitting area at the foot of the bed. It felt serene and, although a semi-shared outdoor space, we felt secluded. Overall, we thought that the perks of booking this "Reserve" swim-up were well worth the cost and we would do it again! The morning after we arrived, Juventino messaged my fiance and asked if we'd like to go horseback riding on the beach, as we had mentioned it the day before. We had even forgotten that we said anything, but not Juventino!! He said he'd meet us at our room and walk us to the center to book our adventure. The person was very helpful and the process was easy. We decided to go that same day...carpe diem, baby! ***IF YOU DO BOOK AN EXCURSION - EVEN HORSEBACK RIDING - BRING YOUR RECEIPTS.*** We hurried back to our room to change and were soon ushered to the beach via van to live out this bucket list dream. My fiance had never been on a horse before and I am a seasoned rider. They paired us based on our physical size to the horse and off we went. We rode down to the arches, took a few photos, and rode back. We were chaperoned by a Caballero, a man who exuded calm confidence, on the hour-long ride. I asked nicely if I could go a little faster. My "rapido?" was met with an encouraging gesture. The horse, bless his tired self, gave me a little gusto and then we walked the rest of the time. I appreciated his willingness at the end of his hard day. I wished we could have stayed with the horses a little longer, but the shuttle was ready to take us back to our resort. When we arrived back, Juventino was there waiting for us. He noticed that my fiance was pretty sore, as expected, but we kept saying that it was an unbelievable experience, something that we will never forget. We showered, relaxed, and went to dinner. While at dinner, I asked my fiance to message Juventino to see if he could arrange setting up the soaking tub in our room. I felt that would be perfect after a day of riding. After realizing the time, we decided not to and headed back to our room to find that JUVENTINO READ OUR MINDS. He had a steaming bath with Epsom salts and rose petals waiting for us. He even took a moment to leave a handwritten note, "I wish you a good night! -Juventino". WOW. JUST WOW. We honestly couldn't believe the thoughtfulness. He didn't have to do that, but he did! His service was a level above and we cannot express our gratitude enough. We hope that this finds its way to the top and he is recognized for his excellence. We slept like rocks that night. The following day, Sunday, we decided to relax. We agreed to attend the non-obligatory timeshare spiel at noon and then spent the remainder of the afternoon at a cabana on the beach. After dinner, we went back to the room and packed a little in preparation to leave in the morning. Juventino arranged a bellhop to meet us in the morning to bring our luggage to the front. Of course, we were not ready, and this gem of a man patiently waited for at least 15 minutes. Wish I’d remember his name, he was polite and professional. Never rushed us. Juventino also arranged for our transport to the airport as well. By the time we checked out at the Reserve desk, our luggage and ride were waiting for us. We hugged Juventino one last time and promised we'd be back. *We MUST mention the women in the gift shop, particularly Mar. She was super helpful, knowledgeable, kind, and felt like family. We spent almost an hour here finding gifts for ourselves and friends/family. I loved that she shared the story of the Caballo Alebrije (photo included) and how the artist came to create such beautiful folk art. We also purchased a Gato Alebrije for my father, who recently celebrated a birthday. He was blown away when he opened his gift. Thank you, Mar. You helped make this trip even more special!* Overall, this place was incredibly clean and full of friendly, smiling staff. We loved the laid-back atmosphere and wished we could have stayed at least another day. We did not get to enjoy all of the restaurants, but would like to speak on the ones we did. The night of our arrival we ate at Sal, the steakhouse. Well, my fiance did. I am partial to some seafood, but usually lean towards vegetarianism. He liked the steak; however, agreed that the sides that we shared were tasteless and not warm. I ordered King crab legs (extra cost, not part of the "all-inclusive") and did not eat more than one leg. They were "okay", very salty and came plain with butter. We woke up and had breakfast room service delivered. I had the BEST pancakes of my life and wish I knew the secret - club soda? They were light, fluffy, sweet, and airy. The fruit had seeds, which made my heart sing! Real fruit has seeds and tastes the best...I probably ate more fruit here than any other resort. It was incredible, both room service and the breakfast buffet were yummy. The bread and butter were fresh, and the orange juice....GOOD LORD....the best we've ever had anywhere. On this second day, we tried the food truck by the pool. It was good in a pinch, but we wished we walked to the nearby restaurant, Agua Marina. The food truck was fast, but also just "okay". Nothing really special, quick nachos, quick hot dog, you get it. For dinner, we ate at Tokimeku (Asian/Sushi). We didn't particularly enjoy the sushi rolls, but the edamame was edible. My shrimp tempura roll didn't have anything fried in it, nothing that resembled shrimp either. It also had a ton of spicy mayo on top that I assume was to cover up for lacking flavor and ingredients. As mentioned above, we live in California. We know, and regularly eat, fresh seafood. This was fresh, but not tasty. Definitely not Nobu by any comparison. Our server disappeared and we never saw her after we placed the order. At the end, we looked around for service as we wanted dessert, but decided to get up and leave the very empty restaurant hungry and disappointed. On Sunday, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Malva and had nothing but positive things to say about it. For dinner that evening, we ate at Cappella (Italian). I was so excited, we love Italian food. Sadly, this was the worst food of all. The risotto and spaghetti were like drinking salt water. We literally couldn't eat more than a few bites before graciously leaving to head back to the room. I ended up ordering room service, french fries and cheesecake, before tucking in for the night. On our last day, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet again. We stuffed our faces with made-to-order omelets, strong coffee, delicious cinnamon hot chocolate, fresh fruit, fluffy pastries, and so much more. We couldn't stop talking about how delicious breakfast was and how our server, Alejandro, was superb this morning as well. Shout-out to this wonderful person!! Paradisus could be 10/10 if it embraced its Mexican roots at these restaurants. Spice, flavor, and heat would improve overall ratings. Please know, we all come to Mexico to experience Mexico. Lean into this, please! In closing, we cannot say enough amazing things about the people here, especially Juventino. They make this place sparkle. We can't wait to come back and enjoy this resort again!

Hello, Overall, it was a great experience. Jaime Borja, was so helpful and went above and beyond to help us with reservations. We had a large group of family and friends and he was able to get us into all the restaurants on the resort and a fabulous one off site.

Over paid for an experience we were never given

Just want to say that the resort is great! Staff the best I ever had at any destination I have visited. Shout out to Nataly our Concierge Amazing! - Luis - Restaurant Mgr. if I could steal him to work for me I would. Nester & Arturo wait staff above & beyond! Even when they were overwhelmed they had a great attitude & always a smile on their face. Now, for the 1 star rating : the last 3 days of our stay... Kids started to come in more and more. Ranging between 4 & 16. Adults only NOT REALLY! Wednesday we were informed that only 1 restuarant out of the 5 would be available. Only the Italian and an outdoor buffet at night. We went to check out the buffet but all the flies and then the giant cockroaches running around the bottom of the bbq area had me done. On Friday, the restaurant for lunch was now closed as well, we were offered a buffet in the backyard before the pool area, in the full sun with no shade. Food Safety was not in place at all - and not observed, nothing on ice and it was 31 degrees outside. There was approximately 150 guests left most left on Wednesday the day the kids started coming in. Of course the talk of the resort was all a negative response by all with a very unhappy feeling by all. Everyone was complaining and it was not an enjoyable experience anymore. All for the reason of bad management on the Resort side, they rented out the entire resort for Monday to an Israeli group that had very high demands (words from the Asst. Mgr.) My answer to her was what about the Guests who paid top dollar for their vacation experience? An apology does not count for time lost and a lack of a full Adult Only experience and lacking the Restaurant choice we were suppose to have. Did I mention that in the middle of the night they set up a kids area with kids tables a playset! All this to wake up to on the second last day. The Mgmt at this place FAILED - they should have never put FULL PAYING GUESTS to be interrupted to accommodate another group with such demands. The GM had so many complaints that she never got around to getting to me. This company dropped the ball. I feel completely ripped off. Sad that we had the last 2 days of meeting new guests who were so mad and that was the only topic of discussion. It was upsetting and stressful. (P.S. - the pool was freezing cold and not to many brave people could go in it. Including myself) So, If you plan on going next year - check the Passover schedule to make sure you are not there a week before, otherwise you will get the next to nothing experience.

Good Stay after the long check in process, but not worthy of the 5 star rating

Brian B (Frisco, Texas) on Apr 24, 2024

I was in communication with the Genesis weeks before my stay to coordinate airport transportation and details for each of my 14 guests, room type, and which room type was reserved, as all 7 rooms were in my name. Genesis did a wonderful job with airport transfers. I requested to have the name of my concierge in advance so that I could reserve a private yacht for my guests during my stay, make dinner reservations etc... I was given the concierge department, however when I arrived it was the exact same 1.5 hour check in process as in my previous 8 stays and as if the resort was not expecting us at the time we were scheduled to arrive. I provided a spreadsheet with the room assignments and guests for each booking number, however it was as if they had not been communicated to the reserve concierge. We had a married couple with 2 small double beds that was never resolved during the 5 day stay. We had reserve guests that never had communication with any concierge, as their concierge was not on duty at the time of check in. I was given a contact at Otium tours who told me they had a private sunset cruise for 6 or I could buy 14 individual tickets on a 100+ passenger cruise. When I responded that I need a private boat for at least 14 they said they would check availability and get back to me. I never heard back. So I booked an amazing yacht for 22 guests on my own thru Cabo Sailing. This trip was to celebrate my birthday, and we had 2 other guests celebrating birthdays during the stay as well. Special decorations were made for the other 2 guests, but none for me, which honestly was not a problem, merely a demonstration of lack of consistency. I have stayed at Paradisus los Cabos 9 times now and have stayed at Melia Properties in Punta Cana, London, Barcelona, Paris, and Cancun. The attraction to Paradisus Los Cabos was originally that we could bring the kids to an all inclusive and it has relatively good food in the reserve. Kids are no longer allowed and the reserve menu offered at Sal (advertised as a premium steak house) is an utter embarrassment. The food at Saint is far superior to Sal. even though we had several steaks excellently prepared that were literally served cold one night ( likely because they were attempting to bring 14 meals at the same time). In summary, I will continue to visit Melia properties throughout the world , where the platinum Melia status provides upgrades, premium amenities, rooms, and a prompt check in, process. Sadly I plan to stay elsewhere on my biannual visits to Los Cabos.

Impeccable Customer Service!

Ryan K on Apr 23, 2024

My girlfriend and I just enjoyed our first ever traveling vacation together at this beautiful resort. As someone that has traveled to Cabo numerous times, I had an idea of what I was looking for. This resort did come as a referral, and I had stayed next door at the Hilton twice before; so I was familiar with the area and the beach set up. We were looking for all inclusive and something with many restaurant options. We were there for only 5 nights and the variety of options (I believe 10) made the property very attractive to us. Great views, amazing late night entertainment every night. The food was exactly what we needed and expected. What really made our trip was the service. It was impeccable. It truly made our stay memorable. We were immediately greeted by Jaime at the front. He set us up immediately with reservations to all the restaurants, car time set up for our off property day, ocean view cabanas, and also added us both to a group text. Whenever we had a question or a need he answered immediately, even on his day off! Next was Francisco at the pool. We can't tell how much he made our visit so special as well. We spent all week with him at the pool cabanas. Such speedy and genuinely thoughtful service. We would walk down to the beach and he would see us walking back up and he would have 2 cocktails in hand waiting for us. One line he said that really resonated with us was when we asked him how he handled being so busy. He said "when you love your job, you are never busy." Just an example of what you will be getting in service at this lovely resort. I could go on and on, but I 5 star highly recommend staying here. An shout out to Roberto who manned the bar right next to the lobby during the day. He got our mornings going on a high note with spicy margaritas! We will definitely return in the future.
