Horrible Front desk and MANAGEMENT

kim k (Scarsdale, New York) on Apr 27, 2024

Bullet points- I reserved an ocean front room with 2 queen beds and a cot. We went to Westmoreland and stayed at Rockouse first ( highly recommend). We planned an excursion with Purpose Driven Tours- to transfer from Negril to MoBay but to see Bob Marley Mausoleum in St.Ann Mt.Zion, (very worth it). Before leaving Rockhouse I called Hilton Rose Hall to confirm our reservation, room type and a late check in. I was told we had our room and it would be waiting for us. I even called the front desk back an hour later so I could make reservations for Rum Factory and started my conversation with the concierge at the front desk and they too confirmed my ocean front reservations. We arrived at 5:15 pm - THEY DID NOT HAVE AN OCEAN FRONT ROOM FOR US. THEY CLAIMED TECHNICAL difficulties THEY DOWNGRADED US TO RM 606 a terrible old room with toilet seat falling off, extremely loud A/C and no way to enter the balcony because the cot blocked the door! I again had to go to the front desk it’s now almost 7 pm dealing with this for 2 hrs and they move us to RM 408 the configuration is better regarding access to balcony but it’s facing the pool/ hotel. Room 408 was also dilapidated chipped paint, worn damaged moldings old curtains. That night we went to 4Palms for dinner (skip it) on our way back we spoke to the front desk to take them up on their offer that we would move rooms to an ocean front room tomorrow. The front desk woman called the same MOD I dealt with earlier they agreed we would move rooms the next day around 2-3 pm. I rented the Cabana 4 by the pool for the day and very foolishly waited until 2 to call the front desk about the switch. 1 st person ask for all the information, put me on hold, said we are working on it they would call me back. 2:30 I called again, 2nd person also not aware of the situation I explained again from the beginning, she put me on hold, she said give them a little time they would call me back. When I called back the 3 rd time the woman was ready for me- she said there was NO OCEAN FRONT ROOM AVAILABLE FOR ME. I’m disabled using 2 canes and I walked to the front desk so completely outraged by the incompetence and lies I asked for the hotel manager- this time it was the MOD that started at 3 pm April 26, 2024 who heard me out from the start and came up with a solution- we moved to Rm 152 ocean front ground floor, more room for our luggage and cot with outdoor lani, bathroom is tiny but for 1 night fine. I calculated 5 hours of frustration day 1 and 3 hours of aggravation day 2. Was it worth it NOW WAY IN HELL. I’m a HH points member since 1996- I’ve been staying in Hiltons all over the world- the location of Mo’Bay and the lazy river pool for young ones might be worth it in a older room. We are use to a much higher standard of accommodation and service. This was a total disaster. I do not recommend and will never return to this Hilton. Jamaica yes. Hilton No. Cancun Hilton yes! Rose Hall Hilton NO. I’m expecting some sort of compensation.
