Great holiday at a good hotel, location perfect and would stay again.

Ignore any bad reviews of this hotel. We have just returned from a six night stay as a family of 4 adults and 1 teenager from Scotland and honestly couldn't fault this place. Yes it is an older hotel and some of the fittings have wear and tear but it certainly doesn't affect your stay. From the time we checked in on the Monday evening to the time we left all the staff we met were helpful, pleasant and polite and we had a great stay. We had 2 double rooms each had 2 x double beds and our rooms were adjoining, beds were comfy as were the pillows. The water was always hot (really hot) and boy was there power from that shower. Maids were in every day, beds made, tidied up and towels replaced. Couldn't fault them. We didn't use the in-house coffee shop Grind & Go, but it did always seem quite busy and wasn't open in the afternoons. Don't take the breakfast option at the hotel as there are plenty of places round about to have it outwith and will save you queueing. Happy hour at the bar was 5-7pm and all the bar staff were lovely and knew our drinks as soon as we sat at the bar (don't know if that was a good thing or not ??) ! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION- you really couldn't get much better, you walk out the door and you are on Broadway Times Square, turn right walk to the crossing and you are bang smack in the middle of Times Square. Plenty subway stations nearby which we did use. Room: plenty space, clean and tidy which is all you really need as we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. Breakfast: Juniors is very close by and the food is good. We ate breakfast there most days. Car Service: we used the car service for a trip and also for getting back to JFK. The JFK journey cost $158 for the five of us which was cheaper than 2 x taxis Pros: location is perfect for getting all over Manhattan. Nice staff, fast elevators so you didnt have to wait long, and the WiFi worked all over the hotel. Clean and tidy. Cons: the tour bus ticket touts pounced on you as soon as you walked out of the hotel every single time. Not the hotels fault but they were a pain, just ignore them and keep walking. Please remember about the security deposit taken when you check-in (ours was refunded within a day of checkout) and then you have the tourist tax to pay per room at the end of your stay. Would I stay here again, yes definitely. And would I recommend to friends or family, yes.

The worst IHG hotel I had ever seen Staff not cooperative, aggressive Very noisy Old furniture Restaurant closed during the highest summer season so you have to buy very expensive items from breakfast to go , you have to wait in long line just to have bagels or coffee in high pice Not recommended at all

Great centrally located hotel next to Times Square.

OregonHiker2013 (Rogue River, Oregon) on Jul 15, 2024

Our room on the 43rd floor was great. We had a great view of skyscrapers and Times Square. The hotel location was very centrally located if your goal is to explore NYC. The staff worked 24-hours a day and were constantly helpful whenever we had questions or realized we had forgotten our toothbrush.

Just been raped at checkout $$$

matt47E (Bristol, United Kingdom) on Jul 12, 2024

Paid for this hotel and stay via British Airways. Naively thought that having paid up front that would be it expect for anything charged to the room. Everything was fine with the hotel except the additional $400 bill that was dropped on us at checkout. No one adequately explained what it was for or why it was automatically taken from my credit card. It’s not a tax it’s just a way of getting more money from guests. These hidden charges are immoral! A room rate should be an all in rate. This hotel as clean and tidy as it is, is very basic and doesn’t have any extra or fancy services to use. Usually when travelling I get asked to pay the tourist tax up front and it is clearly stated in the booking paperwork.

Place to stay for NYC trip with family

tarakJ5397IO (Marion, Ohio) on Jul 11, 2024

This was a mother/daughter trip to NYC, with my 13 year old daughter and my 77 year old mother. This hotel was in a great spot on Broadway, short walking distance to Broadway shows and nearby attractions. Don't spend extra for breakfast package, its grab&go and not a buffet or continental breakfast, just go right next door to Krispy Kreme or breakfast food vendor truck. They provide bottled water and coffee for the room. Check-in was a chore. Check-in is 3:00pm, and we got there early. We waited in line to check-in, our room wasn't ready but we got checked in and got our luggage checked in. We explored the sites and food festival that was going on for a bit. We got back to the hotel close to 3:00 and waited a long time in line to get our key, as there was only one line and limited workers. However the location was great, providing an easy walk to a Broadway show, the M&M store, sites, and places to eat.
