POOR SERVICE, GREAT FOOD

After checking in, my husband went to the bell desk to seek assistance in finding the room for the first time. The bell man that was at the desk was hesitant in his decision towards assisting us. The look he gave us was as if he did not want to assist. I had my hand on the zip of my purse to take out a tip for him, but based on his level of unprofessional behavior, I immediately decided that he does not deserve to be tipped. When we got to the room, Mauro was in the hallway, when the bell man stay Mr Mauro, he immediately started acting professional. My husband turned to him and said, "I'm in the hospitality industry so you don't have to pretend!". It was time for us to take a shower and we realized that the drain cover was open, when I checked the inside of the drain, it was absolutely disgusting!!!! The drain seems as if it wasn't cleaned in YEARS! There was only 1 amenity installed on the shower wall and instead of placing a bath gel there since everyone has to shower, they left a conditioner! I had to call the MOD and inform him. The next day, Kemeisha from guest services and Mr Amseid and Ms Joan (Housekeeing manager), came and viewed the issues that we had logged. They offered a room change but we had only 1 night left so it was unnecessary so we told them that it was fine. We got a 3pm checkout and we were grateful. The food however was exceptional!

We’re do I start,I never write a bad review Positive’s Amazing location,rooms are nice,a la carte restaurants nice,beaches amazing Negatives Main pool filthy,very rude female staff,amenities rubbish Went to Grand Bahia Principe 18th August for 2 weeks with family and friends,check in went quite smoothly until week got to our rooms (not what we booked) straight back to reception only to be told we could change rooms but not until after 3pm the next day. We had booked a wedding vow renewal 4 months prior so we met with wedding coordinator a couple of days in,she seemed very nice,we went through the plan of the day and was informed that the restaurant we had booked for the reception was closed that day so we had to chose somewhere else,only to find out the restaurant was actually open ?? The main buffet restaurant was closed for renovation so there were 2 smaller restaurants open instead,1 was open air so all the food was covered in flies and wasps,birds stealing off your plate,the other was Round Island we’re basically you had to Que for at least 30-60 mins to get in then fight for food,the 2nd week there another restaurant opened up Jazmin which took there pressure off the other 2 restaurants My main grievance was the rudeness of the staff mainly the female staff,I have visited Jamaica many many times and have never encountered rude people,I’d say 80% of the female staff need retraining in hospitality,if anyone asked a female member of staff for anything or even said hello to them they just sucked there teeth and mumbled under there breath,the main lobby bar for drinks was an absolute joke to get served unless you was holding $ bills in your hand. The main pool was closed for a day while we were they because how dirty it was so imagine how unhighginic it was?? there loads of other little grievances but I think the main ones needed pointing out. The Grand Bahia Principe is actually a nice hotel in an amazing setting but it just needs to address a few problems
