Well deserved vacation at an amazing place.I recomend it to everyone. Only down were the sellers inside the resort. A little insistent and pushy.

7th great visit

genegreen61 (Ambler, Pennsylvania) on Jun 13, 2024

2 years ago, I published review of Catalonia Royal La Romana (CRLR) and named it “Fourth great visit”. We just returned from another trip to this hotel – now the 7th one. From the Punta Cana airport it’s 45-50 min. drive. I recommend hiring a private shuttle for 2 reasons: it’s faster, and you’re arriving alone, not as a part of a crowd, which makes check-in a breeze. We send an email a couple of days earlier, asking to reserve a room in the same building, where we stayed 6 months ago (loved the view, please see the pics), and received a very quick response from Hery (thank you very much, Hery!). Upon arrival we’ve been assigned not only the same building, but the same room - 148. The room been decorated with the Welcome Back signs, and a bottle of champagne – a very good start :). I should say that all the rooms, we stayed in, been equally good: working AC, good power pressure in the double shower, working fridge… The housekeeping service does an excellent job in any room. What else do you need on vacation? For the returning guests: the beach towel policy had been changed. Now you can only exchange your towel(s) for the fresh one(s). The towel hut on the beach is open 8-6. They do have towels most of the time. Or you’ll get them at night in your room. Just don’t leave them on the beach as we did before. The beach is same beautiful – white sand, warm water, no seaweed. You can walk to the left pretty far and to the right (couple of the resorts). CRLR definitely has the best beach and the best conditions. Don’t forget that we can use all facilities of the main Catalonia resort. During the day it’s crepes, smoothies, volleyball, table tennis and chess. The food. We really had no complaints. Breakfast – Thalassa, the buffet in the main restaurant (2nd floor above the reception). You can also have breakfast in a couple of restaurants (or the main buffet) on the beach. Great view, but we found the quality and the variety much better in Thalassa. For lunch you have the same choice of buffet in Thalassa, and beach restaurants. Every restaurant has something special: we loved gazpacho and baked chicken Dominican style in Sea Blue, grilled salmon in Bloved, soupes in Thalassa. Same about the dinner. This time our favorite was Siwichi. Both types of steaks were very good. And service was very good in all restaurants, all employees deserve the best words! One more shout for the Guest Service – they’re solving any problem, answer any question, speak any language! About the language. We don’t speak much Spanish, but when both sides want to understand each other – they will: with a smile or even laugh. And let’s be fare: we’re the quests, let’s not demand too much from the hosts. Will we return? Absolutely!

Great holiday in the Caribbean

chrisgL5069DL on Jun 13, 2024

We have just completed a fantastic holiday at the Catalonia Royal La Romana. What a great hotel. The staff are friendly, attentive, and professional. The food is great with so much choice. The facilities are very good and the staff keep the hotel spotless. It was always easy to get a sun lounger before 10am, so there was no rush at 6am to reserve a bed with a towel. The grounds are kept immaculate. Special thanks go to Mayquer, who was always there to help and assist. We also used the on site excursion team, where we travelled to Santo Domingo and a snokelling trip to Catalina Island. Both trips were great. We booked a trip with TUI to Coco Bongo, which was a great experience, but due to the amount of pickups, it took over 3 hours travelling. My only criticism, was the Executive Travellers club salesmen, who constantly plagued us for a sales talk with them. All in all, it was a great holiday, and I would thoroughly recommend this great hotel.

Family vacation

Food - the food was excellent with a great variety available, including many different restaurants to choose from and regular buffet nights to choose from. Facilities - the facilities of the resort were great, many different areas to chill out and relax. Multiple pool facilities with spa facilities available. Sun beds were very comfortable and the beach was walking distance from the room. Lots of sports/game activities to use, tennis, chess, batong, volleyball, pool and ping pong. Rooms cleaned everyday very nicely and the staff were all very friendly and professional. Really enjoyed my stay with my family here and would visit again.
