Great time!

We had a great time at the resort. It was very clean and service was wonderful. Bartenders were attentive. Pool bar was awesome!! Gregorio can make anything ??. Food was ok. Kind of similar across specialty restaurants. And I wish they had real cream for the coffee!! Even the coffee shop lacked real cream!! All in all we had a fabulous time. We did the privilege package but didn't seem like we got better treatment than anyone else. Avoid the sales pitch for the vacation club! Very expensive and just like a time share though they insist it is not.
Just Ok. There Are Better Options.

Dreams Cap Cana More like a 3*, definitely not 4 or 5. My observations: The resort - Generally clean. Nice pools, but beach is under construction. No beach access until May. Staff - Servers and bartenders very nice, however you will be constantly solicited by staff aggressively selling excursions, upgraded food and alcohol, spa services, and vacation club. While sitting by the pool, we were approached by someone every 30 mins which got quite annoying after the first day. You will also be offered a resort credit to sit through a vacation club presentation. Don’t fall for it! Our room also had concierge service, but I really don’t know what their function is, as no reservations are required for dining. Rooms - Our room was basic, but had a nice ocean-view balcony and an upscale bathroom with soaker tub and rain shower. All sounds great except that tub and shower were exposed to the rest of the room which could make getting washed a little awkward depending on who you are sharing a room with. You will have zero privacy. At least the toilet was in a separate water closet. If your room is in the same building as the main bar as ours was, be prepared to not get to sleep until after midnight as the nightly entertainment is outside in front of the bar. Entertainment starts at 8pm and moves inside to the sports bar/night club around midnight. Food - Food was just ok, more like 3 star than 4 or 5. Buffet had lots of options so we always ate well, especially at breakfast. Other restaurants were hit and miss. Entertainment - Typical resort singing/dancing, ok but nothing memorable. This place is ok if you can get a good deal, otherwise, do your homework as there are better options nearby.

Our entire family (8 adults, 4 kids) spent 6 days at the resort and we were very impressed by the staff and facilities. Our rooms were on the 5th floor overlooking the pools and a fantastic ocean view. Upon our arrival, we were shocked when the hotel assigned a butler to our group for anything we needed during our stay. His name was Jorge and honestly it was the best customer service I've experienced in a very long time; Jorge checked on our group multiple times during the day, handled all the reservations at their restaurants, assisted with transportation from the hotel to the airport, ANYTHING we needed, he made it happened withinn minutes. His communications were made via WhatsApp, making it super easy and convenient. The first night, our 12-year-old kid got sick and Jorge was very responsive in the late evening hours, even offering to provide medical assistance if needed. The hotel recently went through a renovation (it used to be a MargaritaVille) after ownership changes, but we never noticed anything that inconvenienced our stay. Rooms were extremely cleaned, the staff was always happy and willing to help, and the food in the 5 or 6 restaurants was excellent. We will definitely come back again!
Just do it!!

If your having reservations about booking here, have NO worries. Resort, rooms and grounds are all excellent. I was slightly underwhelmed with the food but I'm sure that will improve as they continue to fully switch over to Dreams. The best thing about this place is the staff. 2 that really stood out to us were our Butler Sandros, he was absolutely amazing and took care of anything and everything we asked for!! Our favorite pool waitress was Alondra, she welcomed us with a smile every morning and was very nice!! Looking forward to booking here again in December!!
Good / Bad / Ugly

We arrived after dark and were taken to our room, which was booked as preferred oceanfront swim out. When we woke up the next morning, there was no ocean in sight (building 1). Went down to the preferred lobby and was told that is the room category we booked under Margaritaville. Told them we did not book when it was Margaritaville, booked Dreams thru Apple Vacations. We were moved to building 4 the next day, but lost 2 days as oceanfront. The Great: Mediterranean restaurant for breakfast and lunch (preferred only) was fantastic. Service was top notch and the food was terrific. After the first day, they knew what we wanted and brought it to us fast! Terrific people there. The Good: Rodolpho at the steakhouse was a great waiter. 2/3 nights at the steakhouse, the food was excellent, the third night, the steak was so tough it was inedible. The Bad: The buffet was not good. Food options were not up to what we are used to at other Dreams resorts (we have stayed at many). Service was terrible. Had to ask multiple times for water, etc. The Ugly: Liquor selection. Only the preferred lounge had good liquor. Stoli was the best vodka at all bars except preferred, where they had Grey Goose most times. No cranberry juice as a mixer at ANY bars. El Presidente beer only. The only drink I had that was good was a pina collada with Malibu Rum, which was the only rum they had besides Dominican Rum. While waiting for a drink at the pool bar, I saw a worker tear a label off of a bottle. Don't know what he replaced it with, but that seemed a little shady to me. We did have a good time, and, for a good price I would return.
