SO SO MOSTLY FAMILY RESORT LOTS OF KIDS NEEDS UPGRADE

JEN T on May 14, 2024

the resort needs an upgrade and staff are good & bad depends on who you get at front desk & money exchange as the hotel next door takes a HUGE fee to convert your money to pesos plus gives poor exchange rate (I moved rooms and they said they would have someone move my luggage to my new assigned room) I came back from a day excursion & nope there were all my valuables in a closet room with the door wide open around the back hall from front desk. OMG! I had to take my luggage myself there after I found it in the room. They were unable to give american funds only pesos, even though atms do that & the room cleaner was the best of all staff encountered some dining staff also not attentive and NO ONE except one server spoke english which is odd since the industry is dependent on tourists whom mostly speak english. Also, could not get into other restaurants as U have to set your alarm at 8 am to reserve & always full. Beach they work hard before noon to clear seaweed problem but water is rocky underneath in some spots, broken beach chairs and resort of Yucatan the more family hotel versus Riveria Maya next door owned by same chain NEEDS AN UPGRADE!! Rooms were not the best in decor or any amenities, my fridge never got very cold compared to prior room & positive side comments are the food is good & rotated at least so not same stuff each day

Bumpy start

Dan S (Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada) on May 12, 2024

Our room wasn’t ready and we were downgraded without notice on our first night. First day was spent checking out of our room and being without a room for a few hours while we waited for the room to be ready. They said they would hurry it along and prioritize the cleaning but in the end we had to wait for the regular check in of 3pm . Not what was anticipated for an upgraded price

Not suitable if you have food allergies

ASHLEYYG2618 (Stonehouse, United Kingdom) on May 06, 2024

Would not recommend if you have allergies. They clearly don’t care or understand. My husband has a fish and crustacean allergy and has had a reaction twice in about 4 days due to other guests using the same utensils for fish, meat and other dishes. We highlighted to our TUI rep who was great and spoke to guest services for us. They gave us a letter to pass to the restaurant staff on arrival advising about the allergy. I was in the buffet at lunchtime and witnessed them cooking fish and meat on separate grills so I figured that when they have spoken to staff, they took note. How wrong were we??? We went in tonight looking forward to a dinner without the risk of him having a reaction, only to witness a chef using the same tongs to pick up fish and steak and then proceed to cook them on the same grill. We then spoke to the staff and pointed out what was happening and got a response of “oh okay”. Needless to say we left the restaurant. We had a delivery to our room as an apology earlier today of 2 bananas. 2 apples and a bunch of grapes, guess what’s for dinner tonight??? We are here until Saturday but we are so ready to go home now and I wouldn’t be back in Mexico!!!

Fun in the sun and snorkeling

771jaredp (Edmonton, Canada) on May 05, 2024

We went for the beach which was great and we heard the snorkeling was amazing too. Those are both nice aspects of this resort. I really enjoyed the food as well. The drinks are what you would expect of Mexican all inclusive resorts. The rooms on the Yucatan side are definitely dated but we didnt come to sit in the room all day so it was sinply a place to sleep and shower. Overall great experience at a smaller resort (not as much walking).
