Mixed Feelings

We stayed at the Royalton Hideaway for seven nights. While there were several aspects we genuinely enjoyed, we also encountered numerous unexpected issues that negatively affected our overall experience. We absolutely loved our room. We upgraded to the Hideaway Presidential Suite (Room 2410), which was incredible—spacious, beautifully laid out, and featuring a huge balcony with views of the resort and beach. Unfortunately, the air conditioning stopped working on our final night. The private airport transfer was smooth and comfortable, and we felt it was well worth the cost. Dining and drinks were enjoyable, particularly the buffet, the food truck, and the small lunch buffet near Dorado. The bars offered a good selection of cocktails and were happy to make specialty drinks on request. The Hideaway pool also provided a relaxing atmosphere, with plenty of loungers, umbrellas, and towels. However, there were several areas of concern. Check-in was disorganized. After more than 24 hours of travel, the Hideaway lounge had no water or diet soda—only Sprite. Later that night, at 9 p.m., we were woken up and told to come back down to “finish checking in.” The next morning, staff had no explanation for the late-night call. We also experienced a serious issue with counterfeit sunglasses. We purchased Oakleys from the boutique, only to discover they were knockoffs after contacting Oakley directly. Staff initially refused a return and issued a refund only after we provided proof from Oakley. Housekeeping was inconsistent: our personal full-size bars of Dove soap were removed on day five and never replaced, hand towels and washcloths were repeatedly missing, and a very noisy ceiling fan in the bedroom was never fixed. The resort app was unhelpful at times. We were unable to make dinner reservations during the first few days, and activity schedules were inaccurate with locations not clearly listed. Smoking rules were poorly enforced, with several guests smoking at the pool outside designated areas and staff not intervening, which was difficult for those sensitive to smoke. Other frustrations included the air conditioning never cooling the room properly, several laughably small side portions at restaurants, turndown service knocking despite a Do Not Disturb sign, multiple buffet stations (including ice cream) going unstaffed, guest services unable to provide small bills for tipping, coffee cups without lids, trash left uncollected in some areas for days, and multiple public restrooms lacking toilet paper and hand soap. Overall, while we truly enjoyed parts of our stay—particularly the room, food, and pool—the number of service inconsistencies and preventable issues left us with a poor impression of Royalton St. Lucia.
Don’t spend the money. Stay away. Read rnegatice reviews, they are true!

Traveling to get to St Lucia since 4am. Additional 2hr ride to hotel. Had to walk to room while Courtney guest golf cart passed with no guests in it stopping at room. Room is musty, northern US basement smell creating difficulty to breath. Met with supervisor to get another room, went to manager only to find other two rooms smell the same way. TV doesn’t turn off to go to sleep as now 11pm. Now supervisor is gone for the day after making three walks to front desk for a new room. Unit manager never called to get us another room. Now 6am as fell asleep in musty odor filled room. Do not spend the money for this hotel. Read Marriott negative reviews and understand they are real concerns. You will not get the service or stay you thought you would get. Did mention, wedding, going on in the idle of the resort, can’t go to sleep in the musty room as I have to leave the patio door open in odor to sleep and not risk breathing in the air in the room. Memorable Honeymoon

I’ll be honest, on reading the reviews we were a bit worried that we had booked our honeymoon here. Fortunately, we were so pleasantly surprised! Food quality was actually quite good at the restaurants we tried, and the candlelight dinner. Calypso and Zen were other highlights. For the Gourmet Marche, the food was actually decent with lots of variety, I don’t expect much more when trying to prepare mass amounts of food for large groups. Room service did take forever to arrive, but the food was still good when it did. A huge shoutout to our Butlers Nikita and Kayson, these two are absolute superstars who went out of their way to make our honeymoon memorable. From arranging a room change, to arranging our candlelight dinner, delivering food and drinks poolside, and moving up reservations, their service was absolutely one of the highlights of the trip. Our room initially didn’t have a tub, but Nikita and Kayson made quick work of that. The views from the balcony were incredible. The location was absolutely stunning and the atmosphere was so fun. Some areas could definitely have been cleaner, but when there’s construction ongoing, that’s to be expected. We can’t wait to return.
Beautiful Island St. Lucia

The Hideaway Royalton met my expectations. However, it is a shared family resort with one side family and the other side all adults. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing throughout the day. The hotel offered many different activities (children pool, kayaking, snorkeling, water aerobics, karaoke, late night entertainment, and many other things to do daily. The rooms are very spacious with large showers, jet tub in the floor, and robes for guest. My favorite was the mini bar that was replenished each day. I also had the AMAZING experience of having two butlers that made my accommodations and daily experience more pleasant. Kaysha and Augusta did a wonderful job assisting and creating life long memories. If you decide to stay at Hideaway St, Lucia please request them. You will not be disappointed.
Pretty good....don't believe the negative reviews.

We stayed here for a week in the Hideaway Resort as part of the Diamond Club in Building 1. Firstly, the negative reviews are very harsh and do no fairly reflect the resort. Sure, it has some faults but nothing to 'ruin' a holiday. The not so good parts... - Its not solely an adults only resort. Hideaway is within a larger resort which is family friendly. We didn't realise that until we got there. - The restaurants can be hit and miss with the food. I couldn't work out why but maybe due to how busy some of them where on any given night. - Maintenance around the hotel could be a lot better. Damaged walls, creaking lifts, chairs/loungers have seen better days. - Some construction/refurbishment was under way whilst we were there which caused some noise during the day but it wasn't horrendous. Good points... - The majority staff are incredible. Very friend and helpful. Special mentions to Teddy and Shannon, our butlers were great. Samanfa and Brianna from the Vibe team were great fun around the pools. Kurdisha, Stephen and Reena were absolute stars at the pool bars. Thanks to all of you for making it a special holiday. - The gardens are maintained well and look great. - The butler service was a huge plus, we would recommend to anyone to upgrade to this. - The pools were clean and a good temperature. We had no issues getting loungers at the pools. - The coffee shop/ice cream parlour was a nice touch to be able to visit. - The gym had a good range of equipment. All in all a really good holiday and would recommend going.
