Anniversary Trip February 2026

timnrobin (Phoenix, Arizona) on Feb 28, 2026

My wife and I had a 10-night stay at this adults only section of Royalton St. Lucia. We were celebrating our anniversary, which I had made several staff aware of prior to our arrival. We were very disappointed with our room assignment upon check-in. We had booked an ocean view junior suite. We received a room on the 3rd floor of the third building (far right in the picture). To call it ocean view was a liberal use of the term. Also, we were assigned a room with 2 beds, even though we had stated that we were celebrating an anniversary. I raised enough of a fuss to be moved the following day to a room on the same floor / building, but it had a king size bed. Cherry Anne at the Hideaway front desk was quite rude about it, as was Taya during our checkout. That being said, most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Keitha, JnMath Paul, and Paige in Customer Service were very nice and helped me set up some things in advance of our arrival. The grounds were nice. The beach was not big, but we found that the Hideaway side was a quiet area to get away to. The food was good, not great. Our favorite restaurant was Calypso where we dined 3 times. Grazie was good and the pizza was surprisingly crisp and tasty. We enjoyed the Dorado for breakfast, and dinner several times. Kiesha (hostess at Dorado) always had a smile and a warm welcome to the restaurant. Martha in Housekeeping was exceptional. We rented the pool cabana for our anniversary and it was worth the money. I gave this review 4/5 rating, due to the friendliness of the staff, the upkeep of the grounds, and the value was relatively good for St. Lucia. I did not appreciate that there were upgrades at dinner for a better cut of meat, etc. for an extra fee. The best part of an "all-inclusive" is that you shouldn't have to worry about money. We did tip generously to our servers and housekeeping, which seem to be greatly appreciated. My recommendation to the resort is to let the customer choose king size bed or 2 queens prior to arrival, instead of it being determined by the resort on the day of arrival. I would also recommend Customer Service training for the Hideaway Front Desk staff, since that was our first and last impressions of the resort.

Great Experience (4.5)

The resort and grounds are beautifully kept. The location is a bit far from the Hewanorra International Airport in the south. We opted for the private care service to help save time. But the commute eats into the travel day and I will certainly take this into consideration on our next visit by possibly extending our stay by a day to account for the extended travel. The rooms are clean and nice but not free of the occasional quirk if you look closely enough. Dinner reservations at the small restaurants outside of the Buffet are hard to come by and getting seated without a reservation seems to be completely based on who you talk to at the host's podium. That being said, the food and wait staff are great. The grounds are very large for the amount of rooms available, so things stay pretty peaceful and surprisingly quiet. We never felt like we got boxed out of a comfortable space on the beach or by/in the pool. We were disappointed that the pools all close at pm regardless of the time of year. Especially around 7pm after the sun has gone down, the blue lights in the pools make the water look so enticing and not having the lather on the sunscreen before swimming would have been awesome. Nightlife could have been better. Live music was never anything more than a performer singing to backing tracks or Karaoke (the worst karaoke I have ever heard ... hahaha). I thought the overall price for what you got was pretty fair. But be prepared to hear a lot of pitches for excursions. They have employees stalking the beach to try to get you to sign up for excursions and the worst offense of this tactic is having the booth you pick up and drop off your beach/pool towel as an excursion hub that will try to get you into a conversation and sign you up every time you get a towel. Just tell them "You're leaving tomorrow" or that "You're signed up for the Piton tour tomorrow and looking forward to it!" It's truly the only way to break away from the sales pitch without being a dink about it.

The staff were great! The food was good and the view was gorgeous. We lost an important necklace and they found it and returned it in the spa

Extremely Poor customer service

Al H on Feb 24, 2026

While this property is beautiful this hotel suffers from the most abysmal customer service I have ever experienced. The staff was combative, rude and unhelpful at 99% of my encounters with them . Additionally none of my booking notes were followed. The room I received was old, dated, dirty and smelly. Additionally there was construction going on outside of my door daily. The drive to this location was nearly 3 hours, and that I cannot fault them for but what they can should improve on was the check in process that took over an hour and the lobby staff that were incredibly rude. I brought attention to the staff that it was my birthday and inquired what they could do to for the day ( I am always willing to pay for services) they advised me to “deal with that at guest service “ after check in my room was smelly but after a long flight and long drive I bared it for the night. The next day I proceeded to guest service to inquire about what service I could purchase for my birthday. They were seemingly annoyed that the lobby staff didn’t set it up . I offered to pay for ballon’s champagne etc but was told it would be done for me for free. This was not done at any time during my length of stay . My stay progressively deteriorated from there as every interaction with staff was poor . I decided to spend time outside of the resort to salvage the remainder of my trip. The last few days I only ordered room service to lessen my interactions, one morning when I called them to notify them that the juice was missed from my order I had to wait nearly 6 minutes on the line while the person on the line completed her work place gossip, when she finally got to me she told me that they were out of pineapple juice and ended the call. No attempt to replace with another option just click. On my last day I called the lobby for 30 minutes straight to get a golf cart to assist me with luggage. No one picked up or called back. As an Explorist member with Hyatt I will never again cheat on them . I don’t ask for much on trips and I am not a high maintenance traveler but the service at Royalton St Lucia Hideaway completely soured my trip. No not spend you money here.
