A decent Marriott property

We are loyal Marriott vacationers and hoped this Marriott hotel would be just right for our visit to Vancouver. The hotel is okay, but seems to be lacking the higher-end Marriott touch. We will likely try another Marriott property next time we're in Vancouver.
A wonderful hotel all around.=

We had a fabulous stay at the Delta. We have a lot of Marriott points so have tried the Westin Bayshore (great location and staff, small rooms, great breakfast buffet included as an elite benefit), Marriott Pinnacle (good location, tired old rooms, cramped executive lounge) and now the Delta (sad location, amazing staff, great well-maintained suites and insanely good breakfast as an elite benefit). Note that the main entrance to the hotel is on Seymour Street. We went in on Hasting and had a flight of stairs to climb with our bags. No big deal. We arrived two hours earlier than anticipated (and reported during in-app checkin) so our suite was still being serviced. The wonderful Dev checked us in and suggested that we leave our bags and go to lunch. He recommended Miku for sushi so we went there, had a fabulous lunch and returned around 2:30 to find our room ready. We had been upgraded to a higher floor and, based on what our friends told us, also to a larger suite - we had one bedroom, the bathroom and then a living room. The view was urban (a building wall on the side and a city view out the main window) but we weren't there to stay in the room. We called to request bathrobes and extra towels - they were delivered in under 5 minutes. They even sent me a slice of decadent cake for my birthday. The hotel restaurant was wonderful. We had vouchers for being Bonvoy elite members (Platinum and higher get them) and had a choice of a cold, a hot and a beverage - far too much food. The menu was imaginative and the food delicious, with very good service. The staff are all helpful and friendly. They really seem to enjoy their work. I mentioned that the area is sad. There are quite a few homeless people around but never did we feel in any kind of danger. We had an easy walk from the train station (out on Cordova Street, turn right on Seymour and enter past Hastings, 5 minutes for two old geezers with luggage). Also an easy walk to Yaletown for dinner and Canada Place for our cruise a few days later. Gastown has lots to do with good restaurants every few steps, it seems. Stanley Park is a healthy 40 minute walk. I may have found my new home away from home while in Vancouver.
