Great Hotel and Lots of Shopping!

I really liked this hotel! I was in Vancouver for business meetings and our team stayed here. The rooms aren’t huge but I usually don’t care about that when traveling for work. If you like to shop this is THE PLACE. I spent way too much but it was a lot of fun and walkable to many restaurants.
Not ideal for families. Limited Amenities. Stuffy old money vibes.

We stayed as a family for 4 nights. This is the fourth time we’ve stayed at a Fairmont property. (Lake Louise, Victoria, Banff, Hotel Van). Check in was a bit of a let down. There was no info provided to us- no wifi info, no parking info, no info on hours or amenities. This led us to look for our own parking which was a blunder. The amenities were slim. The bulk of the lobby floor is luxury shops with not much seating during busy times. However, if you’re looking for a hotel that has a Dior in the lobby you should definitely stay here. There is only one option for dining in this hotel which was a disappointment after staying at other properties. The restaurant did not appear kid friendly in any way. The vibe is very “old money” which I finally understand is on brand for Fairmont. We asked for a quiet room and were given a room next to the elevators and what seemed to be a family floor as there were kids crying throughout the evening. The elevators sounded like bowling balls running up and down a lane which was an annoyance in the early morning hours. We brought this up when we received a text message a few days into the stay and were offered a feeble apology with no actual solution. The derelict pool had a strange wall erected which suggested it might be under construction in the future. The wifi was very weak. We wandered to look for some of the history of the space and a staff member politely directed us to the exit by the grand stairway; the manner and tone in which it was said, conveyed to us that we were in a space we were not allowed to be in or weren’t quite fully welcome to explore the space. Staff were mostly polite but overall the amenities, room and vibe of the hotel was underwhelming. In retrospect, while the location of this hotel is central and there is a lot of interesting history tied to the building I 100% wish we had opted for a space that had better amenities, and more soundproof rooms.
