This is a lovely city center hotel but it doesn’t live up to its look.

Beautiful place to see. Bed was comfortable and great pillows. Bathroom was small, shower difficult to use and sink area was tiny. Staff that we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Not sure it’s worth the price unless you need to be downtown.

A Disappointing Stay

I stayed at this hotel with my family for 10 days some 15 years ago, and at that time, this Fairmont became the standard by which all other hotel stays were measured. Back then it offered the perfect luxury experience, with great service and an unparalleled staff. Sadly, a lot has changed since then. Upon arrival, we stood in line at the front desk for a good 20 minutes before an abrupt and visibly stressed associate waited on us. I would normally blame the long wait and unfriendly reception to a busy arrival time, but we noticed big lines every time we walked past the front desk, which is obviously understaffed. (At one point I had a question about the checkout process and had to call three times before anyone answered the phone.) Then there was the issue of our room. I admit that because it was a short 2-night stay, I did not spring for the pricier deluxe room, just opting for a standard (still quite pricey) one. But the tiny, cramped room literally overlooked the BACK of the Fairmont Hotel sign and a sad patch of weeds. (This hotel should seriously consider making this and other rooms like it into a linen closet.) Then - and this made me laugh out loud - in the bathroom there was a full-size bottle of their very nice scented hand lotion for our use. Beside it they had placed a sign stating that, if we "take" the bottle (reads like steal), a $75 charge would be added to our bill. I understand the need to let customers know certain products are not there for the taking, but please reach out to your marketing department and let one of their copywriters take a stab at a less offensive, more tactful way of conveying this information. I could go on and mention other small annoyances like the use of nasty powdered creamer with their fancy in-room coffee (even the Days Inns have stopped used powdered creamers), but I think you get the idea. A luxury experience? Not quite. To be fair, we stayed at two other Fairmont properties during our trip, the Chateau Lake Louise and the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary, and both were exceptional stays - so this problem rests specifically with the way the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is presently being run, and is not endemic to this fine luxury chain. Sorry for the rant. Thanks for listening.

Love Hotel Van!

The team always take good care of me when I stay every few months. Valet staff, front desk and baggage folks. thank you! Room staff as well. It is appreciated! If something ever goes wrong - they take care of it. Great location central to everything in Vancouver - great pool. Good classic Fairmont vibe!

Vancouver splendor

Loved the beautiful hotel, service was excellent and enjoyed the meals While there were tiny cups and 1 teabag there was no real milk in the bar fridge. We had some milk sent up . No teaspoons either So making a normal cuppa wasn’t really possible Not a big deal but would have got them to 100%

x4 night stay

Stayed for x4 nights at the start of a Vancouver to Calgary road trip. Very minor issue - we had breakfast included each morning which caused some confusion with staff - some days a charge was made on the credit card - these were all refunded at check out.
