An Outrageously Unsafe and Mismanaged Hotel – A Serious Hazard for Families

Manan B (Las Vegas, Nevada) on Dec 12, 2025

My stay at the Ramada Marco Polo Beach Resort in Sunny Isles Beach from December 3–5 was not just disappointing—it was dangerous, upsetting, and handled with an unacceptable level of negligence by the hotel’s management. I was traveling with my infant child, and within minutes of checking into our room, it was clear that the environment was not suitable for any guest, let alone a family. The bathroom immediately raised concerns: the tub lacked a basic stopper, the floor did not appear fully cleaned, and there was a strong odor of weed both in the bathroom and throughout the lobby. I reluctantly ignored these issues, hoping to settle in and enjoy the trip. But what happened next was completely unacceptable. After finishing a shower, the entire shower curtain rod suddenly detached and fell directly onto my head, knocking off and scratching my $300 prescription glasses and leaving me in pain. This is a severe safety hazard, and one that could have injured my infant had he been inside the tub. When I reported the incident to the front desk, I expected urgency and concern. Instead, I received dismissive, unprofessional responses and was even told I was “escalating” simply for wanting to file a proper complaint. The maintenance worker, who was respectful, informed me that the room was privately co-owned and had non-standard, unofficial modifications—a shocking revelation that raises serious questions about the hotel’s oversight and guest safety standards. Despite being instructed multiple times to speak with a manager, no manager ever appeared during my stay. When I insisted on documentation, the staff called security on me instead of taking responsibility. This hotel failed on every front: safety, cleanliness, professionalism, and accountability. I strongly warn all travelers—especially families—to stay far away from this property.

It is out dated and the fact that you have to pay for a lawn chair and umbrella to stay by the beach is insane. This hotel as soon as you arrive is freezing cold A/C too strong .
