Your experience will depend on where your room is.

Guy-from-Cowtown (Calgary, Canada) on Sep 23, 2025

As many reviewers have previously said the staff were the best part of our four night stay. The room; small for a King room. One chair at a desk, no where else to sit other than the bed. Noise! We were in a room on the back of the building (even numbers West facing) at the South end across from the elevators (more or less above the lobby area). For context this building backs on to a major mall, specifically the rear loading docks and garbage areas for a Large Home Sense Store and … a Walmart Super Store. Well everyone, if your room is where our room was #208, and this would apply to #202-to #218 I would guess, you get to experience the garbage bin pick-up from the afore mentioned Super Size stores every day at 06:00!! You all know what a Waste Management truck sounds like banging a steel bin around?? Brutal. In addition, the design genius who decided to put four rooms immediately across from the only two elevators I guess never considered the cadres of guests who gather very late at night to say goodbye at the elevators before dispersing to their rooms or at sunrise as they idly chat out loud waiting for the elevator to continue their travels. If this hotel somehow meets your needs for some reason do make sure you insist on a room as far toward the North, away from the Lobby end as possible (away from the highway noise which is literally 50’ from the South end) and the East side (odd number rooms) so you don’t have to listen to guests congregating in the elevator lobby or, more importantly, Walmarts multiple steel bins being emptied every morning at 06:00.

Be warned if traveling with pets

Chris C on Aug 14, 2025

If you travel with a pet, be warned about this property! This is a long review but worth reading as a warning. What happened… Checked in around 5:00 but didn’t actually get to the room until after 11:00pm as we were spending time with family. When arriving to our room, my daughter went to feed our dogs. We had been traveling for the past few days and had a container of wet and dry mixed food for the dogs. As my daughter opened the container, my dog jumped up and she dropped the container on the corner of the bed and some spilled out on the top cover on the bed. I told her to clean it up right away, as she started to she noticed what looked like a blood stain that had been washed but still there. She said “that’s blood and I’m not touching that, it’s disgusting”. My wife looked at it and agreed and told her to leave it balled up on the floor for the housekeeping staff. We fed and walked our dogs and went to sleep. In the morning we had slept in a bit and were in a rush to get back on the highway. We totally forgot to mention to the staff what had happened although I don’t think it would have made any difference in the outcome. A day later I received an email from the property stating that “a pet or someone in the room had an accident” and that we would be charged the full replacement cost of the entire bedding set even though only the top sheet was affected which essentially doubled the rate for the nights stay. What happened next… I attempted in several emails to explain that the spill was caused by food and not fecal matter but they would not budge on their assumption. Apparently they have a full time Fecal Matter Detection department and their assumptions are the final say. I spoke to the day manager and the general manager on the phone and no matter what I said, the detection manager ruling was final and they didn’t believe me. I told them I was offended that they were calling me a liar. They said they were not but didn’t believe my side of the story. Apparently the detection manager is an expert on poop and the color and smell matched up. I tried and tried to get them to hear me, I promise with everything I am that the spill was food. I wouldn’t be writing this if I was lying, nothing to gain. Even after offering to split the replacement cost due to my ignorance of not knowing that any spills must be reported to the front desk immediately, the manager refused as replacement costs are more important than a reasonable solution. Even the blood stain on the sheet didn’t make a difference. I even offered to give them a five star review to say how reasonable they were splitting the cost but she again accused me of lying saying “how can I take your word that you would do that”. She proved to be the most horrible person I have ever dealt with in any hotel I have ever stayed at. She let me go on and on desperately trying to get across to her that it was food but she said that the manager of fecal detection and his team were confident in their assumption that someone in my room pooped on the bed and then slept in it. They do not care about their customers, if you read other bad reviews you will see how little they care. Money is king here and the more the better at any cost of reasonable service. I will never stay at this or any other Marriott property ever again. So many better choices out there.

So-so. It’s not a bad stay but not great either.

PicklesA (Manila, Philippines) on Dec 30, 2024

The stay is just so-so. Nothing really that stood out. No drinking water in the room, there’s only water station in the lobby. Also, I didn’t even ask for slippers anymore because when I stayed here last April, I was told at front desk the brand doesn’t carry slippers. I thought that it’s for real until I’ve stayed recently in a another Fairfield outside Canada. Surprisingly, their version of Fairfield is more refined. They provided bottles of water and slippers too.
