We returned to this Sandals location because we had a really great experience there in December 2023. This time, however, was quite different. The resort was at 90% capacity (info given to us by an employee) due to the fact that visitors who had reservations at the Jamaican Sandals resorts damaged by the recent hurricane were moved to other Sandals resorts. It appeared to us that Sandals didn’t take into account the fact that the employees at these other resorts were going to be overwhelmed. We experienced employees, particularly in the restaurants, who were unfriendly and unwelcoming and appeared to want to be somewhere, anywhere, else. There were exceptions of course: Sharon, the omelette maker in Mario’s and Kavel, a server there; Tanesie, a server in Eleanor’s and Cathy, a hostess there; Ozzie in the Drunken Duck. One time, however, we went to the Drunken Duck and one lone employee was serving as hostess, server and bus person. She was doing her best and eventually help arrived. Three of the restaurants at this resort are reservation only. Within 24 hours of our arrival for a full week long stay we were able to get a reservation for only one of the two restaurants we were interested in. We were told at the concierge desk that some guests made multiple reservations and there was nothing they could, or would, do about it. Twice at Mario’s, a no reservation restaurant, we had to wait 45-60 minutes for a table. All that being said, we have to give kudos to Stringbean and the recreation department. They provided excellent evening entertainment. And Simron of the aquatic department gave us a fantastic Hobie Cat ride on our last day. This was not the vacation we were hoping for. I suggest that if you’re considering going here, wait until after the Jamaican resorts reopen and maybe things here will improve.

Third time and still loving it. Slight mix up on arrival and still not sure how that happened. But Masadie on the front desk sorted it out with barely a word said, total star thank you.
