Great Place To Stay
Laura I on Dec 25, 2025
We loved the hotel. The lobby, pool areas and ocean are beautiful. I will say the rooms need to be updated a bit. They are a bit older. The mattresses need to be replaced. Aside from these things, we did love the hotel and the location. We would definitely come back.
Beautiful resort, poor treatment as World of Hyatt loyalty members
Jayden G (San Diego, California) on Dec 24, 2025
When rating properties, I always start with 5 stars and remove stars fairly based on where the experience is lacking. I will start by mentioning that I am a World of Hyatt Globalist and have been in the program for years. At the time of this stay, I was an Explorist, 2 nights away from Globalist. Regardless, I had reserved 2 rooms and applied a Guest of Honor award to both rooms (an award that is supposed to grant Globalist status like suite upgrades upon availability, complementary breakfast, and late checkout upon availability). I will begin with the positives. The property is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are well maintained. Pools were clean. And it is a nice bonus that one pool is open 24 hours. Everything is very clean. The staff does care about keeping the property clean and well maintained. The hotel grounds were also very safe in the middle of the night. They have security 24/7 to ensure guest safety despite Aruba already being a very safe island. The rooms were very clean. Housekeeping was very helpful. When we ran out of towels or water, housekeeping would deliver them to our room promptly upon request. The hotel was great in these regards. The food was good but not great. I’ve found that food isn’t great in Aruba in general, but it definitely is by no means bad. I just think for the high prices, I’d expect slightly better food. But then again, it isn’t bad by any means. I’d say it’s above mediocre. Where I brought down 2 stars was the way we were treated as guests of honor. If you are a World of Hyatt Globalist or use a Guest of Honor award, don’t expected to be treated as such. I was under the impression that Guests of Honor are to be upgraded to suites upon availability, and according to the website there were plenty of suites available. According to front desk staff and the manager, those suites are apparently not part of the program. That is ridiculous given there were many standard suites available but none were granted to us. We have loyal with Hyatt for around 3 years now and they could not upgrade us. After arguing with the lobby for a half hour (something you shouldn’t have to do at the start of your vacation), they were able to upgrade one of our rooms to the same room with an ocean view. The manager made sure to emphasize that the room they upgraded us to was not part of the program and that she is making some exception for us. Keep in mind the room was the exact same as the original room but with a partial ocean view and a standing balcony. A room like this should be an automatic upgrade for Guests of Honor assuming availability. We shouldn’t have to argue with the front desk and hear that they are making some sort of special exception for us to get that room. On top of that, Guests of Honor are intended to get late checkout upon availability. They couldn’t even grant it for one room. I am a reasonable person, I know that “upon availability” means not guaranteed. But there was plenty of hotel availability the date we checked out. I don’t understand why we could not have had late checkout on one of the rooms. If you are considering joining World of Hyatt, it’s something to reconsider. Being loyal with a brand for years should result in better treatment than my treatment this past weekend. At this point, if you have Guest of Honor awards, don’t apply them to this stay. Save them for somewhere that will honor your awards. Overall, the hotel grounds were beautiful, service was generally good, food was good, but treatment as loyalty members was extremely poor. If you are a Hyatt member, rethink coming here.
