Very happy with this resort. Service was incredible. Staff and grounds were amazing. You can really see the care in each and every little thing they do, anticipating a guests needs and getting it right with everything. Bravo to the buffet staff, Mario at Sea Legs and all the staff throughout our staff. Thank you.
We had a wonderful experience!

Our family of 9 had a reunion at Dreams, the week of 2/2 through 2/7. We upgraded our stay and received excellent service from our concierge, Alberto. While all staff were extremely friendly and helpful, Alberto truly went above and beyond our expectations in making our stay a wonderful experience. The food was very enjoyable at all restaurants and the servers/cook that we particularly enjoyed were German, Luis, and Jaime (hibachi cook), In the entertainment department, Eduardo, and Gabriel made everyone feel welcome and appropriately encouraged participation. My massage by the pools was fabulous by Christian and the best drinks were from Nestor, and Sealegs bartenders, Super Mario and Melvin. Our rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The sand/beach was immaculate and free from seaweed. There were no vendors on the beach to bother the patrons, something we really appreciated. Overall we had a memorable experience and would recommend Dreams Playa Mujeres for those with children. P.S. I would probably upgrade again just to receive the conscientious attention provided by Alberto.
The staff really shines

Joel and Savannah at the Mermaid bar really made our day! Their service was excellent. Pedro was also great at the Grotto, all the staff made sure we were well taken care of. Overall it's a good resort, great beach, great pools, food and bev was average.
Just got back, here's our review - Family of 4, traveling with another family of 5!

We just got back from a week long stay, two families with kids ranging from 6 to 13 - here's my lengthy review ?? We arrived and check in was very easy, we had selected a gardenview when booking and when we arrived at our room, it was a beautiful ocean view. We thought they made a mistake, b/c the family we were traveling with had booked an ocenview. The bellman called down to confirm, and we were in the correct room. It was a beautiful, full ocean view room - the nicest we've ever had! It was on the 3rd floor and ocean rooms are technically floors 4 and 5 (that's what we're told). My only comment on the rooms, it's very damp. We've stayed at a lot of AI in Mexico and this one is definitely the most damp, I swear my hair never dried the entire 7 days. Some have recommended bringing Damp Rid - I would suggest that. Housekeeping did a great job each day. Food - we ate at the buffet one dinner, seafood night, wasn't a huge fan but I don't really care for buffets to begin with. They had lots of variety and our kids had no problem finding food they liked (pasta, etc). We did Fusion, Maris, Gaucho and Meze and Hibacchi and Tres Colores - all were very good and the servers were wonderful. We had no issues getting a seat at around 6-6:30. Gaucho we waited, that definitely seems to be the busiest spot. For Hibacchi, we were logged in at 12:59 and requested a table of 8 and got it no problem. Seems like we were lucky based on other reviews. The breakfast buffet is okay...lots of options but the same every day. That's my biggest complaint...unless you're preferred, there are no restaurant options for breakfast. Lunch options were okay...did a sit down at Maris (very good, but a bit slow), and did the pool side BBQ outside the wrap place - pretty good. The kids ate at Tides quite often - selection of hamburger/hotdog/quesedillas/fries/nachos and wings. Ice cream at Dolce, along with iced coffee drinks. My gf and I got away from the kids/husbands for an afternoon and ventured to Secrets for lunch. Ate at their poolside grill which was incredibly slow. Wouldn't recommend. People who sat after us, got their food first. We weren't sure if Secrets guests get priority but it was long. Pool vibe is quiet over there compared to Dreams. Wine drinkers - I thought the wine was decent, from Chile. They had a sauv blanc, and it was enjoyable. Pools - we were at the big lower pool the entire trip - full of activities throughout the day, pool bar, close to beach. We'd get chairs before heading to buffet around 8am and there were plenty of options. By 9am, it was more difficult. It seemed heated which was a nice surprise - easy to get in. Waterslides - two slids, one very slow and one super fast, kids enjoyed and lifeguard was on duty so for us, we didn't need to stay (our kids are all good swimmers) Beach - beautiful white beach, great for long walks...sad that it's near the dolphin area, we didn't go there as I don't agree with them in captivity...I asked how they were allowed to keep them considering Mexico banned animals in captivity...but apparently that's for animals in pools/cages..b/c they have them in the ocean (fenced in underwater), that's ok.. We ventured to the lazy river multiple times, no issue. No staff are really around there, and if they are, they aren't concerned if you're preferred or not lol. We wanted a drink in a coconut, which is only offered at that bar... unfortunately we waited to near the end of the trip, and missed out b/c they don't open until 12pm and are only offered certain days of the week. Gym - weight room and cardio room, with a peloton bike! Very busy by 930, empty at 8am. We did the vacation presentation (90 mins over breakfast) and received a $300 voucher that could be used for the spa, or an excursion... for us, it was worth it as the family we travelled with watched our kids for the 1.5 hours. We went snorkeling for free basically through Amstar (booked at hotel) by attending ($75 USD per person, plus a $20 USD dock fee pp). They are very pushy, work on commission but if you're okay saying no, it seemed like a no brainer for us. If we didn't need to make decision on the spot, we may have opted to do it, seemed like there were good deals to be had if you know what you want (and travel at least 1-2 times per year) Snorkeling Excursion - we were picked up at the lobby, and traveled 10 mins to the marina where a motor boat picked us up and brought us to 4 snorkeling spots. We saw a turtle, stingray and plenty of beautifully coloured fish...and a ship wreck and underwater museum. Unfortunately it was fairly windy that day, so bigger waves and many of the people on the boat (6 out of 15) ended up getting sea sick. No fault of the tour, it was very choppy. We had originally thought to take ferry to Isla Mujeres and get snorkeling tour from there...I'm glad we did this option with the kids for their first time as it cost much less than doing the ferry/tour thanks to the vacation club vouchers. Entertainment - the staff do a great job throughout the day, getting everyone involved. The kids enjoyed all the activities - beach soccer, flag football, vball, water sports, etc. Water aerobics was great at noon as well. Evening shows for the most part were great. We went to 5 of the 7 nights, and all were decent. Some much better than others but kept the kids entertained. Kids club was a bit of a disappointment for us. We were hoping all the kids would go, and we'd be able to get to secrets or just enjoy adult time...we toured it with them, and it's definitely geared to 4-6 year olds. Our older kids (10,12,13) had no interest in attending. We went to the teen zone each morning from 10-12 and hung out there... we also tried the archery, rock climbing and paddle game - very well run. Pickleball - if you're coming here and plan on playing daily, I'd think again...the court is a plastic court with a lot of dead spots where the ball hits and rolls...no bounce. Very difficult to really get into it.. we played only one day. Resort - it's fairly small compared to others, so we felt comfortable letting the kids roam free, going from the water slide (with life guards) to the beach, to grab ice cream etc. Overall, a great time. My reasons for not returning are that there is a bit lacking in the food area. I like a sit down breakfast option (aside from preferred), and more food truck like options around the pool. As a family, you don't want to leave the pool to grab lunch. Pool service would be great too! I'm also not a fan of the dolphins, so that would keep me away. We chose this resort b/c the family we were traveling with is a family of 5 people and this is one of the few resorts that doesn't force you to get two rooms/suite so much more affordable. On a positive ending note, the service was incredibly good - I was nervous based on reviews, but everyone was so helpful and kind (my 12 year old son even commented on it). The a la carte dinners were great, and the trip was awesome and we made great memories! I hope that helps!

Mario, Melvin, Jesus went above and beyond accommodating us! They made us special drinks and went out of their way to make us many fancy, specialty cocktails. They greeted us by name everyday and are super nice!! Mario even surprised us us with specialty drinks!!! He was awesome! Definitely will come back to get drinks from them in the future, as this is not our first time at this resort!!!
