Gaucho restaurant review

Haley R on Jul 20, 2024

The Gaucho restaurant was amazing. Adan, Alejandro and Alfredo were amazing servers. They were very attentive and brought exactly what meats we asked for. They were so kind. It was a wonderful experience eating here! The food was great as well

Dreams Family Vacay

Edwin, Erick, and Roberto were very lovely. They were super attentive to myself and my family at the pool. The rooms at the hotel were very spacious and always clean. Every evening when we came back from dinner our beds were turned down for us. The food wasn’t my favorite at this resort, but all of the staff were certainly very nice.

Could be magical with a few adjustments

The overall stay was a good experience. From the second we drove up, the staff was very welcoming and it was an exciting experience. The checkin was easy and pleasant. Then Lilly came to give us helpful info about getting settled in and created promos that would appeal to us in order to sell the travel package. I don’t like a sales pitch on vacation. But Lilly made it non pushy, but enticing. We agreed to sign up in the moment. Later however we decided against wasting our time on the pitch, but other staff members continued trying to push it, calling our room throughout the week. As we went thru the week, we felt more push towards the package and the need to be a preferred member in order to not feel inferior to others. The fact that there were no other other breakfast options other than the buffet and room service if you weren’t preferred was extremely disappointing. No Bali beds at all if not preferred. Bathrooms were ridiculously far from the beach if non preferred. That was rough when our family contracted traveler’s diarrhea at the resort. Never able to get in to hibachi. It would be nice to put in a reservation at the beginning of the week, rather than trying to play the game daily, which was a reoccurring waste of our time and disappointment daily. Since we got sick, we missed out on a few nights of sit down dinners and shows. However the ones we went to were very enjoyable! We ordered with room service a couple of nights since we were sick. The food and service were good but the app never worked properly. We always had to call to order. I tried it multiple times throughout the trip. There was entertainment around the resort daily. But the app didn’t do a good job of detailing everything happening or where it would be. We would just happen upon things often, often at the end, so missed out. My son really enjoyed soccer and flag football on the beach! And our family enjoyed playing cornhole when the entertainment staff set it up. There were weddings being setup every day around the property, especially the beach. Can’t blame them ….it was beautiful!! But they were always setup in the “non-preferred “ guests spaces. Most days it was ok, and didn’t directly impact us. But on the nights with the most weddings, we didn’t have anywhere we could go on the beach or even around the resort that was not impacted by a wedding. One was even set up directly in front of the walkway that led to our room, so we had to find a new way to get to our room. So even though we paid a lot of money for this vacation as regular guests, we were directly impacted negatively with how the weddings were setup on the busiest nights. The teen center was open to families from 10-noon each day. The first few days of our arrival, we were able to go and spend time in there that was a lot of fun, even though some of the games were broken. But by the weekend, it was overly crowded, because the timeframe for everyone to use it was so limited. The sports deck outside was nice! However there was no details on the website that said we would need to pack tennis shoes to participate in certain activities so we were limited on what we could do. My son was extremely excited about there being a batting cage on vacation however when we arrived, they said the machine was broken so all they had was a bat and a ball. We were able to awkwardly make it work, but if they just had a simple tee stand as a backup for when the machine is broken, that would be very helpful. The resort as a whole was clean and nice and the staff was wonderful. The overall experience could have completely magical if some of this feedback is taken into consideration. Top notch service deserves recognition… Edwin and Jose at the sandbar took excellent care of us at the beach and were great at coming up with new drinks for us to try. They took the time to have conversations in simple Spanish with my kids and taught them some new words. And susana and Fernando at Dolce we awesome all week, also having basic conversations with our kids in Spanish and teaching them more. But went above and beyond to give us a big send off on our last night, making a special desert, remembering every flavor of ice cream we had ordered all week long to create their special masterpiece! It was truly the perfect way to end our trip, allowing us to leave the resort on a positive note.

Trip/wedding was nice. More food choices for people who are not meat eaters

Trip/wedding was nice, not enough food choices for people who were not meat eaters. App stop working during hotel stay.
