• So Far, Not the Resort Experience We Expected
parastoo g on Dec 20, 2025
We arrived at the hotel late last night after a very long journey from Canada, followed by a lengthy drive from the airport to the hotel. To begin with, I was surprised that there was no complimentary airport transfer, especially given how far the hotel is from the airport. In our experience traveling to the South and the Caribbean, this is usually standard at resorts. There was also no welcome drink upon arrival, which is something we normally expect at a resort of this category. The rooms feel quite dated and are expensive for what is offered. Basic amenities are missing, such as a shaving mirror or a full-length mirror, which is disappointing at this price point. So far, we have only had dinner at Mitra Market, and the food quality was very average. The setup feels more like a food court, where you order and then pick up your food yourself, which again does not align with expectations for a resort experience. At this stage, I have to say that I am not impressed, although I do want to mention that all the staff we have encountered so far have been extremely friendly and welcoming, which is appreciated.
Great hotel-Great experience!

We had a great time! We booked the hotel through Costco, and the experience was seamless. We booked the Club Room in the Adult Tower, and our room was huge. It can overlook the pool or the trees, and ours faces the trees. Had a nice balcony and felt very private. No rooms here have beach views, but that was not a problem the forest was beautiful. Our concierges Kenny and Bergen were great at making sure we had everything we needed, for example Kenny called and arranged a breakfast for us at 6:15am via room service (breakfast is not on the menu that early). We had booked an excursion thru Erik G that left at 7am. The excursion was fantastic!! You can find Erik at the entrance to the beach in a blue shirt. We chose the La Leona waterfall hike, and the river tubing. Erik was great at keeping us informed about what to bring for the trip and checked on us via text to make sure our experience was great. The waterfall hike was beautiful, and the tubing was exciting! Both were very safe, and we felt cared for. The tour driver picks you up at the Westin lobby. Lunch is included, and was tasty and delicious! You can pay cash or credit card via PayPal. TIP: Ladies, wear a one piece swimsuit or if possible, wear bike/board shorts or rash guard leggings- don’t wear bikini bottoms. The Erik G trip was the highlight of our vacation! I highly recommended his tour services! Restaurants: You need to make reservations for only 3 restaurants, Bamboo, Spirula, and Manglar. You use the app “Bonvoy Experience” and select the Westin Conchal. We were able to get tables no problem. We ate at both Bamboo and Spirula. The food was good, but we preferred Fasinella for both food and ambiance. The staff at the restaurants seem to rotate, so you may see your favorite servers at different places. The staff here is wonderful! Everyone is very kind, gracious, and hardworking, interested in making sure your experience is great! We definitely plan on coming back to the Westin in our return trip to Costa Rica, and will even take the Erik G tour again as it was so much fun!
Nice hotel, good tour

Stayed in December, hotel was very nice and service was friendly. The beach was very nice, lots of vendors/locals, none of which was pushy. We ended up booking an ATV tour on the beach through Erik G (blue Google shirt). He arraigned hotel pickup and return and everything. This was the highlight of our trip. Overall great stay!
Super nice staff that can’t overcome a rundown property and bad food
stacyv199 (Savannah, Georgia) on Dec 13, 2025
First, the staff were wonderful. Costa Rican people are very friendly and kind. We tried to find decent food at the resort. Unfortunately, for two days we were not able to really find much that was edible. The all-inclusive package at the bar was very good, which helped with the average rating along with a wonderful staff. The property is very dated at this point. The owners are going to have to invest in updating in order for this to stay a property that people want to visit. Unfortunately, I’m not able to recommend this property for future stays. As a gold elite member, I expect properties like this to be much better.
Great first time visit to this country!

My wife and I just finished a two week stay at this property. It was our first time visiting the country. Amazing property, amazing staff and service. We were in the adults only section and it was peaceful and serene. With our Marriott Titanium Status we received an upgraded super room and were treated exceptionally well. Want to give a special shout out to our concierge Jonquin and his partner Jalet who were attentive to our every need to make sure that our stay was great! We ate breakfast and lunch every day and several dinners at Fasinella restaurant, which is in the adults only section. Would like to also recognize the outstanding service from all the wait staff there: Eddie, Jorhan, Rachel, Fernanda, Paola, and Dayona. who gave great service everyday and never let our water glass get more than half empty without refilling it! they all gave outstanding service and always had a smile on their face we appreciated their excellent customer service skills. Would not hesitate to return to this property.
