Not Up To Hyatt Regency Standards

Mr T on Apr 27, 2024

The grounds are nice and they have 3 really nice pools one is large enough o do laps in. The rooms are in need of an upgrade. The parking is really far away form the rooms so you are sort of forced to use their valet, which means waiting for them to get your car every time you need it. The customer service could use some improvement. But the worst part of my stay without a doubt was the bartender. Didn't get his name but he was the tall skinny guy with beard and long shaggy hair and tats all over his body. Incredibly rude and disrespectful guy. I was sitting alone on a barstool with an empty seat on either side of me and he told me to move over in case 2 people come and want to sit together. I told him my wife was due any minute and he was like well until then just move. He also refused to change the TV channel to the Lakers game even though I asked 3 times and I also had to remind him to bring me the water I asked for. I would never stay at this property again due to this very bad and humiliating experience.

Beautiful grounds, dated rooms.

TripMeister1 on Apr 25, 2024

The grounds are very beautiful at this hotel, and it’s in a convenient location. The rooms however are pretty old. The air conditioning unit turned on, but didn’t cool our room below probably 74 degrees, so for us it was pretty uncomfortable to sleep there. Also, the walls/floor/ceiling are very thin and our upstairs neighbors woke us up when they got to their room at 1:00 am.

Had a GREAT time at this hotel!!

WilkinsonsCA (Orange County, California) on Apr 24, 2024

Had an unexpectedly wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. We usually stay at the Waldorf in Dana Point as we like to stay at luxury properties that have extensive grounds but we needed to be in Newport for 7 nights, so we decided to give this place a try and we were not disappointed! What really made our stay exceptional was the people on staff and all the property amenities. Muy husband was working so I was on my own most of the time. I was able to play tennis at Palasades Tennis Club (on property), ride bikes on the back bay trail, take long walks at Newport Dunes (right across the street) and enjoy 3 different pools with comfy lounge furniture of all types. I ate at SHOR Restuarant several times and the wait staff always remembered me. I ordered a bunch of custom, off menu meals to accommodate my dietary restrictions and they were great about it!! I even ate there by myself many times and felt totally comfortable doing that as the wait staff had become friends. There are lots of place to walk and gather on this property, mature landscaping, firepits etc. Even the little store was great, had lots of items I wanted/needed and sold smore kits for the firepits! Basically, we left the hotel feeling like we made a bunch of new friends that we couldn’t wait to come back and see again. Because everyone there was so friendly and helpful I felt very comfortable spending time in all the public area’s by myself. I would definitely recommend this hotel to single women, travelling alone that don't want to feel locked up in their room the whole time. The kindness and hospitality here can't be beat and the prices were great too. We'll be back!!

$47 a night parking fee

Diane D (Phoenix, Arizona) on Apr 23, 2024

The hotel grounds are nice but you will need your car for everything! With that said be prepared to budget for $40 self parking, which is down a hill far from your rooms or pay $47 for valet (plus tips) this is CA highway robbery! Definitely would not stay here again if you want to hit the beaches & restaurants.
