Nice resort vibes. Airy, breezy feels. Large complex with pickle-ball & other activities. Great safe walking in the area.

I went to the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach for a 4 day conference. The experience was very subpar. My room was in the "Bay" building, and there was no elevator access. It was extremely busy at check in/out, and I didn't have time to wait for a bellman, so I had to lug my heavy suitcase up and down 4 flights of stairs, as well as walk up and down the stairs multiple times a day. I am in shape and able bodied, so it was okay for me, but some of my colleagues were struggling. When I got to the room, I was struck by how dingy and outdated it was. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was like a room at a Motel 6. The carpet was old and looked dirty. There are popcorn ceilings, the bedding was thin and scratchy, there were dirty, dusty corners everywhere, there were random paint marks all over the bathroom floor. It looked like the person painting the trim was closing their eyes while painting - it was so sloppy. My bedside lamp wasn't working, and when I pulled out the table to investigate, everything was covered in a thick layer of dirt and dust. One of the outlets didn't work, so I had to unplug the alarm clock/charging station and move it to a less convenient part of the room. My room was in front of one of their pools, and every day they BLAST music. It is so loud you can clearly hear it in your room. Forget trying to take a nap. I went out by the pool one day to get some sunshine, but I only lasted about 10 minutes because the music is so extremely loud that it wasn't at all relaxing. This pool was nearly empty every time I walked past it. They are just blasting music to an empty pool during the middle of the week. One thing that horrified me was when I realized that people walking past my room could fully see in, even though the curtains were fully drawn. There is a big gap left by the curtain, and the way they hung the mirror in the room made it so anyone walking by could glance over and see my entire room in the mirror reflection. I was at a work conference, with colleagues staying in near by rooms. I shudder to think how many people saw me indisposed before I realized they could see in. This is a huge hazard for a woman traveling alone. Completely unacceptable. The conference facilities were very average, not special or high end in any way. Conference food was subpar and displayed in a average, boring manner. This is not the hotel to choose if you are trying to 'wow' your attendees. I'm giving it a 2 because the person who checked me in was great, the room service I got was pretty good (though delivered in a sloppy manner), and the bar staff was nice. Everything else was subpar. Do not recommend.

Room is outdated but we didn't mind too much because it was very family friendly Pool is not getting heated anymore. We've used to love this property, but I guess we need to look for different property.

The hotel was pretty great your standard hotel with a pool but the toilet paper was SO thin like school toilet paper thin and when I came home for 2 DAYS I had a urine track infection (aka my pee burns when I pee) like what!?!? and when we were sleeping I heard the sound of an airplane taking off and it woke me and my mom up But other than that is was a pretty nice trip. Ps. GET BETTER TOILET PAPER!!!!!!!!
