Not so good!

Jennifer H on Apr 26, 2024

To many disappointing things to mention. Most of all was the staff. Unfriendly, half of them. Food is below average. Alcohol doesn’t give you a buzz and this has happened at all the Sandals i’ve been to. Butler not worth it. Beach and water amazing.

Great resort, great beach

Great trip, great entertainment from Blue and Ashli-Ann. Stayed for 5 nights and had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back. We have been to 3 sandals and this is one of our favorites. A great getaway for couples looking for an all inclusive trip.

Absurd and unwelcoming attitudes from the staff. Sanely will never be back to any Sandals after our experience

Whitney L on Apr 25, 2024

Do not waste your hard earned money Vacationing at Sandals, Negril. Not only did we feel like we were annoying the staff. There were several times where my partner and I were actually CHASTISED by the staff during our stay showing clear annoyance with any small normal request we had. One Saturday night I asked for a menu and the bartender spat off all the items on the menu and when I said thank you, but could I please take a peek at a menu she sent angrily sent me away to find one myself. Which I did. And then made sure that I knew I was clearly annoying her when I came back to place my order after tracking down my own menu. It was not uncommon at sandals to wait 30 minutes for a drink and not always because of volume. We sat at a nearly empty/not busy 10 person bar and watched a very angry and hungover bartender with blood shot eyes pretend to clean with his back to the guests for 25 minutes. Hoping I guess that if he just ignored everyone long enough they would go somewhere else. We watched him ignore an elderly gentleman probably about 85 years old trying to get a drink for his wife for 15 minutes until a couple sitting next to us finally spoke up and asked the bartender if he would assist the older gentleman. His response “JUST A MINITE!” In the whole 45 minutes we were eating our lunch we received one drink total. When I tried to lighten the mood and ask him about his day he got very angry with me and leaned over the bar and got a few inches from my face to tell me to basically mind my business. When we finished lunch we found the older gentleman walking behind us looking for another bar because he was never assisted. Very sad. Room service was absolutely non existent. Over our 3 night and 4 day stay we tried room service or the front desk or anything from our room every single day. We were NEVER ONCE answered BY ANYONE from our room. We thought our phone was broken and we talked to other couples staying at the resort, and they confirmed that they were having the same issue and that the phone isn’t broken. No one answers the phone. Isn’t that suppose to be a part of the all inclusive appeal of Sandals? To be able to get service from your room? Non-existent. Also, bars are not open until 2 am. On Saturday night we went down at 12:45 for a drink and the bartender shut the last bar down at 1:11am. Said she was just “done”. So we had to end our night early and head back up to the room. We actually ended up walking down the beach to the lobster shack in front of other resorts to eat a few times because the food at Sandals was made with absolutely no love and we felt uncomfortable asking for anything because of the staffs attitude. Very very very disappointing trip. We really just felt like we paid a lot of money and didn’t get really even the bare minimum from the “all inclusive” service. My boyfriend and I are in the service industry (both bartenders) and understand that people have their good and bad days because we do too. But we felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome our entire stay at Sandals. Sad because the resort is absolutely beautiful. Will never be back, and sadly will probably not try any of the other Sandal locations, which our friends who are in the Ambassador Club, and who have been to almost every single sandals location have told us great things about. Really unfortunate. Stay somewhere else.

DISGUSTING!

Voyage39420967033 on Apr 25, 2024

There aren't enough character spaces to describe this horrible trip! We sat over THREE hours waiting for our rooms! We watched others arrive and go right to their rooms. We approached the front desk asking why numerous other guests, who stated it was their FIRST visit to a Sandals Resort, (between us we have 36 years of visits), were immediately taken to their rooms while we continued to sit. The General Manager, Matthew Cornall, came to talk with us. He kept repeating that he would 'see if he could work on it,' but NEVER did a thing. When we did get our rooms, they were absolutely FILTHY. Our friend's sheets had feces on them, our headboard had some sort of goo running down it, the dresser and table tops were sticky, there was sand in the bathrooms. Our refrigerator leaked water all over the floor. Our friends were told that there was no way the sheets were dirty because they deep clean, etc. We had to have a Supervisor actually go the room and look for herself to be believed. We were totally disgusted. One day at this resort was enough! We went to the front desk and asked to be moved to another resort. We were not spending thousands of dollars for this. The 'reservations' person was supposed to look for rooms, but didn't do much of anything for us. We were told to return in an hour to see what she found. When we returned she had no clue why we came back - she did nothing to get us moved. She then tried to tell us that there weren't any rooms at any other resorts in Jamaica. We were basically taken on a wild goose chase and lied to over and over until we finally called the front desk at Royal Caribbean and spoke to the General Manager, Ms. Dawn Smith, ourselves! She immediately went to work and found us rooms and had us moved within an hour. However this was after THREE days of back and forth with the reservations person at Negril doing nothing! WE LOST THREE DAYS OF OUR VACATION BECAUSE OF THE INCOMPETENCE AT NEGRIL. THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING AND FILTHY! Nobody cleaned up dirty glasses sitting around, or trash laying around. There were dirty glasses sitting outside our room on the beach, along with pizza boxes and trash. The beach was filthy, they didn't rake it or anything. There were locals walking all over the beach trying to sell weed. You could not go for a walk without being approached. There were CHILDREN on the resort. This is advertised as an Adult Only resort - but there are kids there....We were told it's a 'public beach,' and they can be within three feet of the water, but they don't follow that rule. Some of the buildings didn't even have water while we were there. We heard people saying they had to use the water from their refrigerator in their room, and put it in their toilet tank so it would flush. We went to the Barefoot restaurant for dinner because it does not require reservations. We arrived and saw at least four empty tables. The lady at the front ask how many, we told her four. She looked over her shoulder at the empty tables, then looked at us and said 'it will be a 40 minute wait, it's first come, first serve.' We all stared at her. My friend's husband said 'there are at least four empty tables here.' Her reply was 'just come back tomorrow.' We found out that this person was none other than Pauline - the MANAGER of that restaurant. Apparently she was too lazy to do her job and serve us. If all of this wasn't enough, I fell on the concrete sidewalk outside my room and NOT ONE employee stopped to see if I was okay. The final straw was when a piece of 2x4 fell from above our friend's patio, where they were doing construction, and hit our friend's husband on the head! There were no catch nets or anything under them while doing construction. When he told the front desk management, their reply was - "oh, we are sorry to hear that." None of us will EVER RETURN TO NEGRIL AGAIN! And we will certainly NOT recommend it to anyone else either.
