Amazing getaway / incredible Jamaican staff
Brian M (Atlanta, Georgia) on Sep 16, 2023
My wife and I had an incredible time. From the moment we arrived, the Jamaican staff were incredibly friendly and made our stay very special. I'd especially like to mention Briana and Brianna, Martel, LeRoy, Chris, Pinky, Brendon, Kerren, and so many others that I'm having trouble remembering names. These people are the real deal. The live entertainment was also especially good. If you get a chance see the Silver Birds steel drum band. They were fantastic. Oh, and the scenery is nice too! We took the sunset Catamaran trip to Rick's Cafe. It was amazing, so we booked w/ Capt. Big Papa, Lance, and Anthony for a private cruise on a two story boat along the same route and this time we swam in the caves. It was one fun trip (party) on the water. I can't thank Big Papa, Lance, and Anthony enough for showing us such a great time. This excursion cost extra but it was worth every penny. Thanks to all the Jamaican people that made this whole thing so memorable. We've already booked again for next year.
Beautiful but Deflating

We stayed at Sandals Negril, in the swim up Butler Suites August 19 – August 26, 2023. This is our third trip to this resort. Our butlers Christopher and Damien were wonderful. My husband’s birthday was well celebrated, and the decorations were amazing. Food and Service are still outstanding. Special Shout out to Ashlee and Madonna in Loyalty. Happy Birthday to Chris the Bartender! Chris goes above and beyond for the guests. He always remembered what drinks we liked and brought them to us on the beach. He did just as much for us as our butlers! Only a few negatives, Butler suites no longer stock the special amenities. The Butler Suites used to contain sewing kits, shower caps, cotton balls and Q-tips. For the price, I think the rooms should have more than shampoo, soap and lotion. I complained to the Butler Manager and was told we would receive some Q-tips, however, we never did. Due to the construction, we noticed things were a little different, restaurants were relocated, nighttime entertainment has diminished since 2020 - so in the evening, often there was nothing to do. The pools and beach were dirty. All in all its still a wonderful resort, but for the amount of the money we spent it was a let down. It seems all the corners they seem to be cutting will hurt them in the long run if not rectified. We booked our next Sandal’s trip, however, it wasn’t for Negril. As Emerald Members - we expected more after 14 trips to Sandals.
Year after year they don’t disappoint

It’s amazing the staff remembers us by name even after a year. Chris and Kenrick the butlers are amazing. Chris at the pool bar is fantastic. Devon in water sports is great. Tanesha, David and the management staff go above and beyond. The food is great. The ambience is great. It’s our home away from home year after year
Good. Just need to control the Seagulls better while people are dining

Our butler Christopher was the best. Very attentive to our needs. We didn't have to look for him, he checked in on us very frequently. Pleasant demeanor. He is excellent. He should get a raise. Happy they assigned us to him.
PARADISE LOST

I will begin by saying that we visited this visit in 2022 and what we experienced last year in comparison to this year was a stark and sobering contrast. We stayed in Negril from 7/23/23-7/30/23 in the Paradise Building in which the room was in complete disarray and also showing mold and brown water coming out from the rust under the spout every time you put the water on and got into the bathtub. We had no hot water for 4 of the 7 days of our stay and the day before we were leaving they replaced the diverter which they claimed was the issue. Yea, okay, this did nothing and no one seemed to care. If that wasn't bad enough, my husband missed 5 days of his vacation with food poisoning from this property and was forced to go to the nurse at the tune of over $600.00 for the doctor visit, antibiotics, hydrating salts and immodium..After this I started looking at the buffet to find uncooked eggs, flies and gnats flying out of the food and fruit, raw hamburgers and other foods that were not cooked properly. In addition, there were never beach towels available before 10am with the exception of one day, food sat all over the resort from room service for days and there was marijuana smoking and paraphernalia and lord knows what else being smoked and left all over the resort including glass pipes and small containers. Oh, and did I forget, the mantra "Love is All You Need." The last thing you can call this place is a "romantic environment." More like a spring break or frat party that all the workers activity participated in making tons of noise when you are trying to relax on the beach. The crescendo of the whole trip was when we checked out NO ONE came to get our luggage. We are older, my husband being 65 and myself 56 with back problems that were forced to carry two carry on pieces of luggage and two 50 lb. pieces of luggage from the second floor down two flights of steps in the pouring rain to catch our cab. Also upon checking out was advised that I had a $60 something dollar credit that they refused to take off the bill telling me that I had to spend it in the gift shop or donate it to the Sandals Foundation. Wait, what? After we spend over $400.00 in the gift shop you are now telling me when checking out that I have to spend more money there or donate it. What a scam. Our travel agent contacted Sandals and we were offered 40,000 points for our troubles. We did not think this was acceptable but did accept for we knew that they were not going to make this right for we seen how they aloof they were at the resort. Push ahead 30+ days and still no points which were supposed to be credited to our account within 10-14 days. At this point, we want nothing to do with these horrible properties or our travel agent for this matter. We have sent our son and his wife to St. Lucia last year on his honeymoon and have our daughter and her fiance booked for Antigua which will be pulling when she finds another property on the island that she is interested in moving to. We have also gone several times ourselves and booked Antigua while on property before things went from an inconvenience to horrendous which I will also be cancelling. After this crappy trip, this is it for us. Good luck to Sandals...they will be a thing of the past within the next 5-10 years for they will lose their customers to the many other brands out there that treat their customers better than this.
