Outstanding service and beautiful family resort

philippesb (Santa Barbara, California) on Dec 20, 2025

We had a great experience at La Quinta Resort, thanks in large part to Martha C. at the front desk. She struck the perfect balance between being professional and personable — warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling rushed or scripted. Check-in was smooth, and she made us feel genuinely welcomed. Front desk interactions really set the tone for a stay, and Martha absolutely delivered. She’s a true asset to the resort, and we look forward to returning.

Beautiful Grounds but the Rooms are Not the Star of the Show

globetrotterrr (San Diego, California) on Dec 15, 2025

La Quinta Resort & Club has an interesting history. It went thru a lot of ownership changes/management changes and is currently Curio Collection by Hilton. It was very briefly branded a Waldorf Astoria but that was short lived. I imagine this is because to maintain this sprawling property to those standards would be insanely cost prohibitive. I stayed here for three days: here is my experience. I was here mid-week in December and very happy that the resort was relatively quiet. I was there for an industry event. The event was awesome, the staff was great. The grounds are quite beautiful and lovingly maintained. Every resort employee I encountered was attentive and kind and caring. The space is beautiful- all the meeting rooms were relatively easy to find and I had zero problems getting around. You can call a golf cart to take you where you need to go, or ask anyone that works there and they will walk you to your destination on property. I Loved Morgan's, the bartenders are great and they make the best drinks! Now for the rooms, the rooms are not why you stay here. Im sure as an older property, the infrastructure is a challenge to maintain but it's noticeable to guests. The rooms are all different, you never know exactly what your room will have or how large it will be in any given room type. My friend had a fireplace in her room and I had no fireplace but I had a huge walk in closet - that was great. The bathrooms are nice and large with separate tub/shower which I always appreciate. the bed was comfortable and I slept well. I used the pool and jacuzzi on the first day and it was great. Nobody there. The rooms are in no way luxurious unless you are staying in a suite. I likened my room to a motel with a super nice bathroom. The AC works but you won't be able to get it below 67 degrees- I tried. AC smells like the vents have not been cleaned in a long time and it always seemed to smell like high humidity. Again aging infrastructure. I was just thankful it didn't shut off in the middle of the night. Here are the three things I did not like: 1. Yes, the hotel has bugs. You cannot escape this if you bring one crumb of food into your room. If you don't see bugs you are lucky, I was here three days and on day one saw a few very tiny bugs but they didn't really bother me - there were only a couple of them and they came in thru drains /AC vents. It was on the second day that I found a pile of them on my bed! they were definitely ants, but smaller than a standard ant. I was perplexed as to how they would get in there but it seems that the AC vents /drains are the entryways. I would recommend taking any used teabags, spoons, any thing that touches food and drink and dispose of them outside the room. That is what I did and that seemed to work. Also - shoutout to housekeeping who came right away to change out the bedding - Bugs are going to be around any property that is constantly watering on the ground floor- landscaping like this, ground level rooms and old infrastructure equals bug factor. (but still, gross) 2. There are burrs in the carpeting that vacuuming doesn't always get so watch out if your room has carpeting and you walk bare feet in the room. I got poked by two of them and finally put my slippers on so as to avoid that. 3. The TV never worked properly. I would dial in a channel and it would buffer and stop working after a few minutes. The most basic three star hotels can figure out their TVs so this is super annoying. I just gave up trying to use the TV and used my laptop to watch . Another minor quibble- the hotel took out the ice machines so save yourself a hunting expedition and go to the pool and get your ice there, the staff is more than happy to help. Other than those three things I had a pretty nice overall stay. I am not sure I would stay here again but I am glad I did, it really is a beautiful resort.

Birthday celebration at La Quinta with tennis

Anthony M on Dec 02, 2025

I recently stayed at La Quinta resort for a milestone birthday celebration tohat combined my passions of wellness, tennis and luxury. I recommend staying at the spa villa with a balcony closer to the tennis court with the proximity to the spa, tennis, pools and awesome mountain top views. I celebrated with multiple days of liveball and private lessons. The tennis staff, including Kevin, Jose, Ian, Cesar, Randy, Marcus, Ernie and Rod were all welcoming and accommodated my friends and family for both pickleball and tennis. I also visited the spa for a 80 minute massage. Kevin and team ensured my birthday celebration and tennis experience was a memorable one not only for me, but also my family and friends.

Best tennis resort

Allison R on Nov 24, 2025

I have been to many tennis resorts in my life, and La Quinta Resort is the best tennis resort. It is difficult to imagine playing tennis in a more beautiful setting. The tennis director, Kevin, is awesome, and the tennis pros I have worked with are also great. The rooms are authentic, and the resort staff are very accommodating. I have stayed at other tennis resorts in the area but they pale in comparison to La Quinta Resort.
