? Zero stars if I could! ? This resort is absolutely not a 5-star — more like a worn-out 2-star pretending to be fancy.

? If I could give ZERO stars, I absolutely would. ? Where do I even start? This place is nowhere near a 5-star resort — more like a tired, struggling 2-star motel pretending to be one. Everything about it screams outdated and neglected. The rooms: Oh boy. The rooms look like they haven’t been renovated since the 80s. The toilets clog if you so much as look at them wrong (you can’t even flush toilet paper!), the power outlets are ancient and half don’t work, and our balcony door was jammed shut, so forget enjoying any “ocean breeze.” One of our TVs didn’t work at all, and after three separate complaints, the staff kept promising to “send someone soon” — spoiler alert, no one ever showed up. The check-in circus: Absolute chaos. Somehow they managed to lose my entire reservation — and not one person could explain how that even happened. Elizabeth at the front desk was about as helpful as a brick wall. No empathy, no urgency, nothing. Just blank stares and bad attitude. The food and drinks: Three onsite restaurants plus a buffet, and not a single one worth mentioning. The Italian place? Terrible. The buffet? Sad. Food runs out fast and refills take forever — if they happen at all. The staff look exhausted and unmotivated, which, honestly, I can’t blame them for. The drinks? Completely watered down. You could probably drink five cocktails and still feel nothing. Overall: This resort is a masterclass in false advertising. Outdated rooms, broken amenities, disorganized staff, mediocre food, and watered-down drinks. I could write a whole novel on how disappointing this place was, but I’ll just say this — save yourself the frustration, your sanity, and your money. Go anywhere else.

As an avid traveller who has visited over 70+ destinations in the world and have been to the Dominican Republic 4 times, I would like to give you an honest review. Do not listen to all the bad reviews as everyone’s experience is different. Here is my review: The resort is beautiful and the grounds are very clean/well maintained. The main buffet Larimar has plenty of and fresh options daily for meat eaters, pescatarians and vegetarians. The sports bar (Legends) played most sports games daily including the World Series (let’s go Blue Jays). They had lots of pub like food and drinks. The beach club snack bar also had good options, we enjoyed the Dominican plates. Shoutout to Paulino who makes the best Maracuya Mojitos and always smiling. We were in building 2 which is luxury suites and it was modern and very clean. We upgraded to a swim up suite in building 3 during our stay and it was well worth it! I did get a chance to see the regular suites and it was clean with Caribbean resort room decor. Definitely upgrade your stay and you want more of luxury feel and room. Rooms are cleaned daily and room fridges are stocked daily. There was only 1 morning where the water in the shower was a bit cold but maintenance fixed this issue right away. Given that it is rain season (which you should know prior to booking) there was a few hours of rain here and there but still enjoyable! They offered umbrellas and the pool entertainment still went on! The entertainment staff were amazing! Shoutout to Skinny, Blacky Boy and Shampoo. Blondie and Karol G were so kind and fun as well. There are themed activities and events daily! Including yoga and Pilates at the beach. We loved the coconut and beach party. We got a chance to check out all 3 à la carte restaurants; Teppnyaki, Italian and Steakhouse. All delicious with great options. The gym had everything we needed. There is also a pizza place, gelato and cafe on the property, which is very cool and included in your stay. The ladies at reception Yendra and Michel were always so nice and kind. It is a resort that offers stay at 1 and play at 2 meaning you can eat, drink and enjoy the pool/entertainment at the Playabachata resort next door (but not the other way around). Senator is catered more to adults and Playabachata to families with children. The beach is private and the spa is wonderful!!! Shoutout Ingrid! I’ve seen complaints about bugs/mosquitoes you are in the Caribbean where it is HOT, that is normal. I’ve been to 6 continents and that should be the least of your worries. Please note: One pool was closed for renovations but there is 6 others. The only con for myself was that Friday and Saturday was very busy as locals visit the resort for the weekend. Otherwise, zero complaints! You’re on vacation, enjoy yourself!!! Thank you Senator staff!!! I will be back very soon with a group!
