The people are so fun. Especially the entertainment staff. The buffet is pretty standard each day but there's restaurants all around the resort for something different. The little shops are super cute too and has souvenirs, necessities and bits of culture to really rope you into the whole experience. The music is fantastic, the entertainment staff dance and chat with you like you're forever friends (Especially Shakira and Skinny, the best two) and many people are ready to help. The main staff know English if that's ever a concern but I'd still recommend learning some Spanish to make your visit a lot easier. Plus it's fun to see them light up when you speak in their language. Overall, great time, thank you so much Senator for the unforgettable memories!

Front entrance looks great, but when you walk in there is high sales pressure to sell you services and future packages. This is not a smoke free resort and people smoking heavy close to the pool next to kids that are swimming and also smoking all over the property. Heavy smoke smell I felt like I smoked just by being in the pool. Guest are allowed Bluetooth speakers so many different types of personal music playing and cannot hear the DJ music clearly. There are never enough plates for people to eat and super long lines to get food and drinks. Not enough bar staff and you have to wait too long. The indoor sports bar is very understaffed to handle the volume. It took almost an hour to get a drink. All included but you waste hours in lines to get food and drinks. Good alcohol always ran out and have to drink cheap stuff. There is not enough close parking because front parking lot is too small. This place in no way is close to 5 stars and overpriced for what it is.

1/5 Stars — Very Disappointing Stay Unfortunately, our stay at this resort was far below what we expected and, in our opinion, did not live up to the standard we were promised. The beach: The beach area was extremely small, with very limited sandy space. If you’re looking forward to spending your vacation relaxing on a large, beautiful stretch of sand, this may not be the resort for you. The drinks: The selection of drinks was very disappointing. There was very little variety and none of the fun or different cocktails you would typically expect at an all-inclusive resort. The drinks were poor quality overall. The room’s bar fridge also contained no alcohol at all. The staff: Unfortunately, we found the staff to be very unfriendly and unwelcoming. We rarely received a hello or even a simple greeting, and there was very little sense that staff were interested in making guests feel welcome or going out of their way to help. The room and cleanliness: This was by far the biggest issue. Our room was not properly cleaned at all when we arrived, and there were no towels provided. Even more concerning, the toilet had vomit from the previous vacationer still on the side of it when we checked in. Despite being there for an entire week, this was never properly cleaned. There was also mold on the lampshade in the room. These are unacceptable cleanliness and hygiene issues for any resort, regardless of its star rating. The food: The buffet food was extremely disappointing. The quality and selection were poor, and we found very little that we actually enjoyed eating. For an all-inclusive resort, the food should be one of the highlights, but unfortunately, it was one of the biggest letdowns of our stay. Overall, this was a very disappointing vacation experience. While we understand that no resort is perfect, the combination of poor cleanliness, inadequate room preparation, disappointing food and drinks, an unfriendly atmosphere, and a very small beach made this a resort we would not return to or recommend to others. The cleanliness issues in particular need immediate attention. Finding vomit left behind from a previous guest and having it remain there throughout an entire week is simply unacceptable.

SECOND TIME BACK — AND SENATOR PUERTO PLATA DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We just got back from another AMAZING family vacation at Senator Puerto Plata, and this time was even more special because we came back with our family and booked SIX ROOMS! This was our second time staying at Senator, and we are so happy we decided to come back. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, the entire team continued to make us feel welcomed, appreciated, and like family. This is exactly why we came back — and once again, you did not disappoint! A special thank you to Karen and your entire crew on the same shift. Thank you for everything you did to make our stay so enjoyable and memorable. Your kindness, hospitality, and attention to us and our family truly meant so much. A HUGE THANK YOU to all the amazing people who took care of us during our stay! BREAKFAST CREW — YOU GUYS’ ROCK! Our mornings were always better because of the wonderful breakfast crew. Luigi — our Egg Master! Always with a smile, always friendly, and always making those eggs just right! Also a big shout-out to Nunez, Ana Maria, Hidalgo, Silvero and Junior. Thank you for your amazing service, smiles, and for making our mornings so enjoyable. You guys made breakfast feel like visiting friends! DINNER CREW A special thank you to Vargas and his crew for taking such good care of us during dinner. Your professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. We truly enjoyed our evenings! LARIMAR BUFFET / RECEPTION There was also a lovely lady at the reception at the Larimar buffet who took such good care of us. Unfortunately, I forgot her name, but I hope she sees this because we truly appreciate everything, she did for our family. HOUSEKEEPING Ana Rita— you were AWESOME! Thank you for always being so pleasant and for taking care of our room. The refreshment boys — we loved everything! Coming back to a clean, comfortable room and having our refreshments taken care of made our stay even better. And of course, Julissa, who took care of the public washrooms near the buffet area, always made sure they were spotless. She did such an amazing job! AND NOW… OUR BAR CREW! A HUGE shout-out to: Ariel • Alex, Eddy • Lopez • Manuel • Sony • Domingo • Maria • Wilinton, Ismamol and of course Claudia. You guys took care of us throughout our entire stay and you did NOT disappoint! Thank you for the great drinks, amazing service, laughs, conversations, and especially the good vibes. You made our time at the bar so much fun! FRUIT STAND And we cannot forget the lovely lady at the fruit stand in the mornings! She was always offering us freshly squeezed juices and starting our mornings off right. Thank you for your kindness and those delicious fresh juices! ENTERTAINMENT — WOW!!! EXCURSIONS Our excursions were truly an experience of a lifetime! We made so many wonderful memories with our family that we will never forget. WHY WE CAME BACK At the end of the day, what makes Senator special isn't just the beautiful resort, the food, the drinks, the entertainment, or Puerto Plata itself. It's the PEOPLE. The staff are what make you want to come back. We came back for our second visit, brought our family, and booked SIX ROOMS — and honestly, we are already talking about coming back AGAIN! Every single person who took care of us played a part in making this another unforgettable family vacation. 101% RECOMMENDED! We LOVE you, SENATOR PUERTO PLATA! And to every staff member we mentioned — and even those we may have forgotten to name — THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! You made us feel like family, and that's something we will always remember. went in April and I have been down south 20 plus times.the resort is small and very clean.i was with 28 people and no one had a bad room.we are booked too go back this April again.it is a 4 star resort but has everything you need for a great vacation.all the staff that I had were very nice.only compare about staff were the night time bartenders.they were not very friendly at all .buffet was good,alcrates were awesome and the sports bar food is like pub food here in ns.we booked back in may and the price was cheaper then last year.it,s the best under $1500 resort that I,ve been too.
