Anniversary Trip

The service made the trip great, Wander, Ruth , and Johan at the preferred bar killed it. Also make sure you get Byron as your personal concierge, he went above and beyond every day and took care of everything with professionalism and sincerity. Byron for the win.

Lovely hotel for the most part

The hotel and staff were great. Everyone was friendly and the grounds, communal areas and room were all kept very clean. We had the Preferred upgrade and for use of the lounge and preferred pool and availability premium drinks it was worth the additional expense. The Preferred beach area filled early and was very shaded so we only used that once. The team in all areas were great and did a good job. The bar tender in the Preferred lounge made some amazing drinks and was very attentive. The margaritas made at the Blue pool (Preferred) bar were some of the best I’ve drunk. The restocking of items in our room was a little random; some days we didn’t get coffee pods, other days a towel may disappear even though it was hung up (per the instructions in the room for sustainability). Food in all restaurants was ok, not great. We did appreciate that the big buffet items were served rather than self served; it’s a little more hygienic to do that we felt. The Teppanyaki felt rushed and had the beef not been overcooked, it would have been a good meal. It did feel quite rushed too with a sitting each hour. In Moustache, the French restaurant, the food was French by name but not anywhere near French cuisine. We were also approached to leave if we weren’t to order dessert as they were busy and wanted our table which was a little rude given that we were still drinking our wine. Lastly, talking of wine, our first restaurant experience was in Noor where we were presented with the (pricey) wine list. We were latterly told after saying no to wine that house wine was also available! Eventually found the gym and given its serving two large hotels (Dreams is next door), it’s tiny! Both hotels are within security gates so it was safe to run around the complex. Overall, it’s a great hotel, let down by its food/restaurants hence the 4/5 rating.

Beautiful Resort, Service Excellent, Food Mediocre

My partner and I had Preferred member status for our first visit. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Byron, our personal Hyatt concierge, and he was so helpful and so sweet. He took us to the Preferred Lounge, which was very nice with a little snack buffet and higher end liquor. We were given a map of the restaurants on the Secrets and Dreams side of the resort. The room was clean and the atmosphere was calming. Byron continued to text us and make sure we had everything we needed. We had wonderful service and drinks at the Preferred beach area but especially the Preferred pool area. I want to emphasize the wonderful, efficient service we received from our servers/bartenders: Diorka, Affeman, Jose, and Evelin. Drinks and service were superb. The only disappointment was the food. Coastal, La Moustache, and Caboa were not good. Mare and Sakura were decent. We did enjoy the local cuisine that was offered, but anything prepared in a non-local style needs a touch up. Maybe a Chef consultation where you refine the dishes with the product in house. Don’t need to upgrade.. just prepare properly. Scores, the sports bar, had a nice touch to it. The room service was decent at night but the breakfast was poor. Overall though, the service and gorgeous atmosphere makes it worth it. Thank you to the wonderful staff.

Diorka was awesome. She was always there when you need her with a smile. Very helpful and friendly, great service. She remembered us and what we liked. Was great with the language barrier and very patient with us.

Amazing experience

My stay at Secrets La Romana Resort & Spa was truly exceptional. From the warm welcome to the cleanliness and attention to detail, everything made us feel well cared for. Special thanks to William and Dareling from the entertainment team for their energy and enthusiasm, and to Hector and Joldan from restaurant management for their professionalism and dedication. The staff at the Mediterranean restaurant and the cafés were attentive, friendly, and always welcoming. A concern during one dinner was handled promptly and thoughtfully, and the team went above and beyond to improve our experience. Overall, the staff across the resort was fantastic, always attentive and ready to assist. What began as a friends’ trip turned into an unforgettable experience. I am grateful to the team and look forward to returning.
