Relaxation achieved

Marian J (Langley City, Canada) on Apr 26, 2024

Kudos to those involved in restoration of the beach near the main pool as sea water no longer lapping by the beach front suites and pool area. The quality of food remains superb and is varied. Staff and management are friendly and helpful. My husband remains a devoted fan of Cafe Mexico. Sea weed are constantly washing up onto shore and we noted hard working staff are raking up the weeds and grooming the beaches daily. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the resort plus one can choose to either relax or be on the go especially when the resort is so close to 5th Avenue. The room that we had was perfect as we were close to the gym/spa and small swimming pool.

Trip

The food was mediocre and the drinks were watered down the Night Time Entertainment was terrible the pool side bars closed at 7:00 p.m. for all inclusive adult resort there needs to be more to do we had to go to other resorts in order to get good liquor and better food the service was fantastic the room was great but the food and the liquor for the money that we paid was not good the Mexican food I had there was not authentic and the room service was better than the food down on the main floors but I did not travel all the way from United States to Cancun to eat a cheeseburger

Small Resort, Excellent service

Wyndham Alltra has the absolute kindest, friendliest staff you could ask for. From Maritza in front, to Mitzy and crew at the pool, to Gustavo, Raphael, Francisco and all the waitstaff in every restaurant, to Diego in concierge, you will feel welcome. There was entertainment each evening and throughout the day at the pool (Friday and Saturday were "house party days" lots of celebrations and extra entertainment). If you want more quiet, the North Beach had free cabanas and a bar with swings and restrooms, absolutely perfect for relaxing and snoozing. The beach at the resort required learning some navigating around rocks, but float on out and relax. To the North of the resort following the shore, it is possible to walk several miles (don't hesitate to walk around building structures) on beautiful sandy beach and water. To the South you can walk easily to the Ferry terminal to Cozumel in 10-15 minutes. 5th avenue is nearby if you want to shop. Restaurants at the resort had a good variety of food and morning coffee at the coffee bar was excellent. There was a sushi bar (closes at 5) at the swim-up bar/rooftop pool which we heard was good but not really convenient when you hang at the main poolside or at the beach. Be sure to ask what liquor is included. We had a house vodka initially and then found out Absolut was included. Grey Goose was $10 a shot or $110 for a bottle which automatically got you a cabana at the pool. Bars open at 11 am. Skip tours which leave from Cancun. The ride was over 90 minutes to the boats with stops to other resorts. Not worth the hassle and time at all. We had a junior suite which looked over the street, still quiet and very spacious. It was nice to sit on the balcony and watch local families and tourists stroll. The spa was delightful. They have steam/sauna/cold plunge/jacuzzi and excellent staff. We went twice. Tip: If you chat with the spa staff who circulate, you can negotiate a better price than the menu. Tip: Skip tours which leave from Cancun. The ride was over 90 minutes to the boat docks with stops to other resorts. Not worth the hassle and time at all. Tip: Bring your tip money in small bills. The ATM at the resort charged $8 fee + 10% ish conversion fee so a withdrawal of $400 cost $449 and they came out in $50 USD bills which are basically unusable for day to day tipping. If you want a long sandy, sprawling beach in a remote spot, look elsewhere, however Wyndham Alltra was a win for a small resort with lots of amenities, good food, good location, and the best staff ever!
