where to start? I have been to this resort several times over the past 20 years and have never been disappointed. The only downside that a beach person needs to consider is the water has a lot of rocks and it is hard to walk out or float around in the shallow water. The bars on the beach do have bathrooms attached to the back which i found handy. The resort is spread out so there is a lot of walking or you can take the shuttle. I like the fact there was 2 outside lunch areas not including the restaurants. Nearer the beach a chicken taco BBQ and further up near the party pool there were hot dogs and hamburgers. The main buffet at breakfast and lunch, have a better selection of food than the Riviera and Sunset restaurants. There were a lot of Mexican Racoons and be careful to lock your patio door on any level. I watched one open my screen door and try to open the glass door before i shoed it away. I never attended to evening shows so cannot comment. All the staff were friendly and professional. From the beach staff to front desk. My special thanks for my stay goes to Team Sports bar with Margarita "Rita", tiny Yolanda, Ofelia, Maria and Daniel. I played pool almost every night and the service was great with a smile. I stayed in the Riviera Platinum side and special thanks to the staff there of Raquel, Raymundo, Angel, Lupita and Benancio. All were friendy, professional and gave great service. At the Laguna pool, my special thanks to Kal-El who was efficient, professional and also gave great service. At the Riviera restaurant, many thanks to Roberto at breakfast. After 13 years he still had a smile and loved his job. Thank you. To Brenda from Mexico City, thanks for the reception service. I locked myself out of my safety box one evening and in less than 5 minutes someone was at my door to correct the problem. All the staff were great but these people made my trip special. GREAT HOTEL COULDN'T FAULT IT!!

My husband and I really enjoyed our 1st visit to Mexico for 11 nights and it won't be our last. Prior to our arrival I emailed the hotel for a higher floor room and the request was met and we had a lovely positioned end room above the swim up rooms which was quiet and private just looking out to palm trees (so thank you very much to the hotel for this).The hotel is excellent yes the rooms are a little dated but really spacious and clean but it is the outdoors you come for at the end of the day, beds were really comfy, good showers always had hot water, the housekeeping cleaned our room and changed towels everyday the mini bar was restocked everyday (we didn't use much as were out round pool or at the beach all day). The hotel grounds were kept immaculate with beautiful palm tree lined walk ways and plants etc, it was lovely to spot some monkeys in the trees on our last day, the racoon type creatures were all over the place and scavenged everywhere if food and drink was left around we saw them trying to get in peoples bags (but don't let this put you off coming) there were iguana , tiny lizards, beautiful birds, few cats and we even saw a deer. All the staff whatever their job around the hotel were very pleasant and polite and took the time to speak with you. Plenty of pool areas to choose from so if you want quiet relaxed you have it or if you prefer a bit more going on you also have that.We found it easy to use the hotel app to book the restaurant reservations they were all excellent and service great ( we really liked La Vaqueria the steakhouse we went 3 times in our stay) portions are huge as well in all restaurants, the buffet food was also really good we always found something and there is a vast choice so even the fussiest of eaters will find something, we liked the grill stand area as well just over the bridge the burgers were lovely. Cannot comment on entertainment as we always stayed out around pool till late so it was over by time we had got ready. Didn't do any activities around complex so again cannot comment on these. Playa De Carmen is worth a visit if you want a change of scenery we took the courtesy bus (think this cost $8 there & back) some lovely bars and restaurants there and a beautiful beach. I could go on rating this place so all I can say is give it a try yourself. TIP: take some sea shoes to go into sea as it is quite rocky when you 1st get in but then ok.....also be prepared to give tips around the hotel and if you go out and about we took dollars and peso (they don't expect much but grateful for what you give them).
