Honeymooners Beware!

I never write reviews, but I felt I needed to take some time to do this in hopes of helping save future honeymooners. My husband and I have stayed at plenty of AI resorts and this was, without a doubt, the worst one we have ever stayed at. For my future St. Lucia honeymooners: stop what you’re doing and look up Jade Mountain. We stayed 1 week at La Toc & 1 week at Jade Mountain and WOW was it night and day. TLDR; If you’re considering La Toc for your honeymoon, DON’T! I’ll start with the positives: Our team of butlers (Sam, Shanna, Skylar & Mavel) were wonderful! They were always happy to assist with any request and we never felt like a bother for asking (which is something we were worried about coming into this). They would have mid-afternoon & after-dinner snacks waiting for us in our room, would bring us cocktails at the time they knew we were getting ready for dinner, would draw a bath with rose petals for us in the evening, etc. Our butler team was easily the highlight of our stay. Another positive of this report was the food; I would say 75% of our meals here were very good! The spa: When my husband and I arrived, a woman from the spa came up to us while we were waiting to check in at the butler lounge and signed us up for a couples massage. No mention of price, type of massage, length, etc. You can imagine our shock when we arrived for our appointment and received a bill for $412 for a 1 hour massage. Never in my lifeeee have I paid so much for a massage. For context, a 1.5 hour couples massage at Jade Mountain (a FAR superior resort) is $260. Taking price out of it.. the women who conducted our massages were quite pushy and rude. My masseuse for some reason felt the need to, in the middle of my massage, point out the break out on my back (gee thanks??). After the massage.. they came in with a bunch of the resorts beauty products, said to my husband “so how much will you be spending on the lady today” & acted disgusted when we said we weren’t interested. The Service This was probably the biggest pain point for me. If it had just been the food, drinks, resorts upkeep, etc.. I wouldn’t have said anything & honestly would’ve probably had a great time anyway lol. But the service here really pushed me over the edge.. there is no other way to put it, it is ATROCIOUS. Aside from our lovely Butlers & the amazing girl running activities at the pool, every single employee we came across here was either extremely cold, couldn’t be bothered, or just downright rude. I’m not sure if it’s because you aren’t allowed to tip at this resort or what but it was really uncomfortable and off putting to be treated like an inconvenience anytime we ordered a drink or sat down at a restaurant. Someone’s name I’ve seen mentioned quite a few times and, unfortunately, have to reiterate is the server at Soy, Jammie. I guarantee if you go to this restaurant, you will know exactly who im talking about. We had appetizers at Soy almost every night and every night, without fail, Jammie seemed so beyond irritated to be taking our order. She doesn’t even look you in the eyes or acknowledge your presence, doesn’t respond if you ask her how she is or if you say thank you, and if you don’t already know your order the second you sit down.. good luck! The Drinks I’ll keep this one short.. the drinks here are horrendous! I always read reviews that say this & I always think they’re being dramatic.. but the alcohol here is without a doubtttt watered down. We did not feel anything a single day that we were here.. and we can drink lol. Not only were they watered down, but they were all really gross. Even ordering something simple like a margarita was a letdown. I also did not appreciate that the bottles of alcohol in our room were already opened & 1/2-3/4 full when we got there. This has never been the case at any other resort we’ve stayed at, likely for both sanitary and safety reasons. The Beach I can’t really speak to the beach itself since we were never able to step foot on it, because of the beach vendors. They are quite aggressive and pushy.. trying to get you to book tours and buy things from them. On our first day, we were sitting at the main pool and a beach vendor came up to my husband and handed him a bag of weed saying “you can just bring me $40 later”. Uhh no thanks. I watched countless people trying to relax on the beach being relentlessly bothered by the beach vendors. Security even came up to us and said to be careful because sometimes they will try to bribe you to give them food and drinks. So.. be wary of that. The Resort The resort itself and the rooms were quite outdated, even staying in a sunset bluff butler elite room. The view from our room (896) was lovely though so if you are considering a trip here, I would definitely recommend it! This was our first Sandals experience and I can confidently stay we will NEVER be back to La Toc, and quite honestly will never give the Sandals brand another chance. There are much better chains out there, with employees who actually want to be there & want to make sure their guests are happy.

We had the most amazing butler service. We had Charles,Kaplan and Gasper as our butler’s.They went above and beyond and made out trip exceptional! We loved the rondoval suites! We will absolutely come back!!
