Save your time & money - book elsewhere!!!

Stayed here with my husband’s company in April of 2025. He has qualified for these trips for a few years now, each time typically being an all-inclusive, so I have grown to know what to typically expect at most AIs. While these trips are mostly paid for, I still like to read reviews & do my research on the resort & location so that I can be fully prepared & make plans accordingly. Last year, I read of a mix of bad & good reviews, but was overall very pleasantly surprised as we really enjoyed the resort. This year, I was again met with both bad & good reviews - stating that the staff was rude, food was not good, rooms were dated/moldy, etc. I had high hopes again that my expectations would be exceeded - unfortunately I was completely wrong. This resort is absolutely awful. Staff is so unbelievably rude. They act like they have been burdened anytime they are asked to do their job. Order a drink ar the bar - eye roll. Ask for a mimosa at breakfast - sighs. Very snappy, very ill - it’s like everyone is in absolute hell. We are big tippers & found that tipping still didn’t change most of their attitudes. We literally got eye rolls & ignored several times trying to order drinks at different bars on property. Front desk agents rude, housekeeping rude, restaurant workers rude - not one staff member on the resort was friendly & continuously acted like it was a burden to do their job, to the point where we didn’t even want to be on the resort and would rather go off resort and pay for food/drinks. After being there for a day, we realized that the food was quite inedible so we knew we would be doing dinners off of the resort. We went to several places & experienced much better service & good food. Our favorite was Jax Steakhouse which was walking distance to the hotel. We also liked the crepe place & burger place next to the supermarket. At the hotel - The buffet was awful, we tried it several times. The Palms restaurant has 3 things to choose from - all very mediocre food. The burger shack was decent but you would stand in line for 30+ minutes. We didn’t try the Italian restaurant or the Asian restaurant - but we had coworkers get sick from the Asian restaurant. I will say - I am a big foodie & I am fully aware that most AI resorts will have mediocre food - which is perfectly fine but this resorts food is awful. Not edible majority of the time. My husband has absolutely no expectations on food most of the time & he couldn’t stomach a lot of what was offered. Also - no room service. There is literally no where to get food from after dinner - not even vending machines. Overall, the food experience alone is the main reason I would never come back. We spent so much money on food off of the resort. The pool with the swim up bar is quite small. It was so packed all 4 days that we were there so we spent most of our time at the beach. The beach is absolutely beautiful - perfect sand & perfectly clear blue water with the view of the planes landing. We absolutely loved it & it was the highlight of our trip for sure. The only downside is that it is public beach so there is no service offered by the resort - which meant we kept having to walk back up to the resort to get drinks. There is a decent amount of chairs down there, for free, but beware people will have towels laid on them all day while they are elsewhere and then claim they are “held”. There are local women offering massage services on the beach also, and they were great (a bit pricey but we didn’t mind as we wanted to support them). My husband got sunburnt badly & one of the sweet ladies gave him an aloe rub down/massage - he wasn’t even red anymore the next day. No entertainment on the resort at all. The rooftop bar is open only to ocean point guests. Had to leave each night for entertainment - which we didn’t mind as we enjoyed exploring the St Maarten culture but just another thing you have to pay for that usually comes in an AI. 3 of the slowest elevators for the entire resort to use. It was nothing to wait in line 10-15 minutes at the elevator with the line going across the entirety of the lobby. The only upside to this stay for us is that it was a company retreat & we didn’t pay for it. I would absolutely never spend my own money to stay here. Sint Maarten was beautiful & I really think we would’ve enjoyed our time here so much more if we were at a different resort. If you are weighing good & bad reviews and aren’t sure - let this be your sign. DON’T DO IT!!!!!!!! If for some reason you do have to stay here - I would absolutely recommend booking the Ocean Point side as you will have more food options, a much better pool, room service, rooftop bar, a better gym, etc. You will still be dealing with the same miserable staff but perhaps they will treat you better in those areas.
