Great family resort!

The resort was amazing and the staff was incredible!! Went with our two teens. We were able to enjoy the pool or the beach plus we walked around town and took a taxi to multiple locations. Definitely would return! The only downfall was the elevator. Only two to carry everyone up and down so they get packed at times. Watching the panes was a unique experience that we all enjoyed.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT

I stayed at Sonesta Family Resort from August 22nd to attend a friend’s wedding with a group of 40 people. Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by a troubling incident during my stay. On August 24th, I discovered that $850 USD was stolen from my room. As a single guest, I had no one else in my room but myself, and I promptly reported the issue to the hotel staff. I was incredibly disappointed by the way the situation was handled. The supervisor I initially spoke with dismissed the issue and forwarded me to the security manager, who refused to provide any clear protocol on how they would investigate the matter. It took five days for the security manager to inform me that two staff members had entered my room but insisted they believed these individuals didn’t take the money. Shockingly, the staff members were not placed under investigation, and the hotel took no accountability for the incident. When I asked for an explanation, the security manager unhelpfully told me that only items in the safe could be accounted for—a dismissive and unfair statement, especially considering that I had valuables that couldn't fit inside the small safe. Despite finally meeting with a manager on August 28th, I have not received any resolution. To make matters worse, I also met another guest who told me that his passport had been stolen, further highlighting the security concerns at this resort. The lack of proper measures, transparency, and responsibility by the hotel staff and management was incredibly disappointing. I cannot recommend this resort to anyone and urge travellers to be cautious if they stay there. The resort fails to protect its guests' belongings and does not offer adequate support in resolving serious issues like theft.
