Smaller size hotel with a huge heart....loved it there...staff super friendly.....special shoutout to my fave tarbender Ernesto...always making people laugh....also lazarito the cycling monster, and of course beautiful wonderful kindhearted margarita.....I didn't attend any alacartes...there for 2 weeks cycling everyday....no eggs for 1 week...but hey hurricane rafeal hit ....so I'm realistic about this stuff......a/c worked for full 2 weeks, hydro only went out a few times briefly....internet was pretty reliable for what I needed it for......

Beautiful family atmosphere for adults. Come back often and you’ll be treated like kings and queens. Best beach around , beautiful pool, rooms very comfortable and clean. Buffet and Mexican restaurant and all kinds of daily activities!!

This is our GO TO resort when we go to Varadero, we always have a great time. Last November was no exception, had a blast. We are returning in 3 weeks and looking forward to it. We have preferred rooms 100 - 115, by the lobby and on the ground floor, they always accommodate. The staff is second to none! Last year I had no problem living off of soup because I was having teeth issues, and my husband always found his favorites to eat. This will be our 10th stay at ROC Barlovento, and it won't be our last. Reasons we return: #1 The staff are incredible, I can't say it enough. #2 Location, location, location. On the beach and when you walk out, you're at the beginning of town. #3 Adults only, enough said lol. #4 The beach and the pools. #5 The overall experience and feeling like we've returned home. November 4th we will be there and couldn't be more excited to see everyone, and be 'back home'.

resort is average. nothing is special. the room was poorly cleaned. the air conditioner leaked for 2 days and only the third day they fixed.the save box did't work 3 times. the night show was terrible,noisy and monotonous/my beach towel was stolen and they threatened me that if i don't pay they will call to airport so that they will not me go to canada. i paid 16 us for cheap beach towel.the food was ok.everyone must decides for themselves where to go to vacation.good luck with this resort

Overall the hotel is dated although not surprising in Cuba. Food was not great although the cafeteria staff were lovely. Problems with check-in and check-out. Overall would not recommend the hotel as there are others that are better and with overall better service and food. I had heard and seen good and bad reviews so wanted to give the hotel a chance. I did and will not do it again despite some lovely staff there.
