So much better than expected

We were seriously pleasantly surprised with how nice this resort was. The only serious complaint we would have would be the noise levels. Our room was 1349, right above the coffee bar and lobby. If sleep is your thing insist on the 2000 block or the outer perimeter away from the interior lobby or pool side. Make them give you a layout and choose well. Bring pristine US or CAD dollars. We sadly discovered that most restaurants and shops only accept cash. Our credit cards were next to useless. The rooms are decent, hot water every time and kept clean. The food for Cuba was actually really good. A little short on proteins, mostly chicken but we never felt hungry or that there would be a shortage. Every morning we were treated to fresh warm doughnuts. They were so good, I can still taste them. Service was great. For travelers worried about mosquitoes we did not see one on resort. The spray we brought was given to the workers on the second day. Off resort at the highly recommended Carbona restaurant on the outskirts we saw one which we quickly eliminated. A quick shout out to our favourite taxi driver Yuniel (Junior), Cuban telephone # +53 52976061. Very professional, spreaks excellent English and so, so engaging. We really recommend!
