Delightful stay on the Gold Level
FuzzyBeaver (Montreal, Canada) on May 27, 2025
We stayed on the Gold Level. The rooms are nice and well appointed. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping the rooms perfect. The Gold Level staff are outstanding. They go out of their way to provide excellent service and to anticipate your needs. Although the buffet area is compact, they do a great job having a number of new items each day. The door staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel also has a direct connection to the underground walkway system.
Great Fairmont Feel
Canadiantraveler14 (Victoria, Canada) on Apr 08, 2025
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We chose the Gold floor which is so worth it! The lounge is calm and clean with great snacks and breakfast. And above all, Aarsh was such a wonderful staff member. He was helpful, friendly and even found us a cord so we could use our iPhone in our rental car for our cross country trip. Thank you! The rooms are on the older side, as is the building. But they are clean, smell good and we had spectacular sunny sky views. And comfy beds!
Run down
488traveller022 (North Vancouver, Canada) on Mar 27, 2025
It’s run down. The smoke detector was hanging from the wall by its wires. The temperature control didn’t work and the room was unbearably hot. Maintenance brought a fan and the next morning I requested a different room. I used the gym once. It was too hot. There was no fan and nothing to wipe down the machines after use. The staff were very friendly. Drinks in The Lounge were good. The Velvet Glove restaurant was closed. Overall, this Fairmont is not a nice hotel like Fairmont in other cities. I was told renovations are imminent
New ownership needs to get started on renos!
Scenic36727332217 on Feb 17, 2025
What was once the 'nicest' hotel in Winnipeg has definitely lost more than a step. This location is under new ownership (apparently) and needs to get started on the revamp - it has now become dated. The fact that you can't get a bottle of water within blocks of the property after hours is ludicrous! It would cost the hotel next to nothing to offer this simple touch. No nightstand plugs for phones either - yes, I know, first world problems. Small details like having an empty dispenser for the shower gel/body wash just shows sheer negligence on the part of housekeeping. If someone showers above you, it's like a small seismic earthquake / very noticeable and pretty disruptive. The temperature in the room was a significant annoyance with it blowing extremely hot or extremely cold air when maintained at 23C. The prices of room service are actually comical as well, with a pound of chicken wings priced at $48! There used to be a hot tub and there is only a pool and sauna now - not a huge deal. It was convenient to walk to Hy's for dinner and not have to go outside and the overall service was prompt and professional. For the price, I'd stay at the ALT, Delta, or Inn at the Forks (for now).
The service at fairmont gold is exceptional.

If you’re considering a stay, I highly recommend upgrading to the Fairmont Gold rooms. The service is exceptional, and the team goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. Aarsh, Sarah, and Kenneth deserve special recognition for their professionalism and attentive care. During our visit, we did encounter a minor issue with an undercooked chicken dish at the restaurant. While the manager said it was due to the meat’s natural color. I still believe it is undercooked as it appeared pink and tasted underdone (like blood). That said, this incident was far outweighed by the outstanding service provided by the Fairmont Gold team, which truly made our stay worthwhile.
