Great visit!

Sayer D on May 21, 2026

We had a great stay at the Fairmont. Lucia and team were very kind and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay special. The Doormen and valet service were also very helpful in navigating our stay with a 10 month old. Excellent service and value provided for the price.

Perfect location and friendly service. Scheduled for extensive renovations beginning July 1 2026.

Waterloonie (Waterloo, Canada) on May 17, 2026

High level of service in an excellent location at Portage and Main in Winnipeg, the crossroads of Canada. A wonderful property that is a bit tired, and accordingly is scheduled to close on July 1, 2026 for a year of extensive renovation. A special shout out to Rod, who is an exemplary waiter.

Great Hotel, AMAZING People!

Jessica M on May 07, 2026

Had an amazing stay at Fairmont Winnipeg, it's always so great to come back to this hotel - as a loyal Marriott member I typically always stay at Marriotts when traveling but when in Winnipeg it has to be the Fairmont. I was pleasently surprised to be upgraded to Gold (first time being upgraded) the service was 10/10 - Sam who was the Gold concierge was absolutely amazing and so hospitable! Made me feel so so welcome. The food in the lounge was perfect for both a light dinner/snack and breakfast. The only problem is I wish I was in town for an extra night to enjoy even more of Fairmonts offerings! Looking forward to my next visit.

Expectation Vs Reality

gas051014 (Singapore, Singapore) on Apr 23, 2026

I started with high expectation as Fairmont Vancouver is exemplary with their services. Ended with frustrations. I wanted to check on the account summary that usually seen on the TV screen, since the name appearing is not even my name, I called the reception area to ask. And, the lady who took the call is very rude and told us that we made booking with 3rd party and she cant do anything about it and ask us to proceed to the lobby if we want to know the billings. They placed the hotel as the sender of the flowers that my daughter requested and paid for as a birthday surprise for me Room temperature is hot even placed in 18c. No slippers inside the room. I want to thank Erika and Sarah at the reception, they are the only good that gave an impression to us, or else we have given 1 star. Will never book again with this hotel.

Inconsistent with Fairmount gold floor experiences in other cities.

Sue R on Dec 31, 2025

My husband and I are longtime, loyal guests of the Fairmont brand and typically book Gold Floor accommodations, as we value the lounge experience and enhanced room amenities. During our recent stay in Winnipeg, we found this property to be notably inconsistent with other Fairmont hotels we have experienced. To begin with the positives, the check-in process was efficient, and the staff were consistently warm, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. That said, our Gold Floor room and lounge experience did not align with the standards we have come to expect. Our room felt dated, with minimal décor, an empty minibar, no slippers provided, and an extremely small, well-worn bathroom. Additionally, our room was located on a floor shared with standard rooms, which made the Gold Floor experience feel indistinguishable from a regular room despite the premium cost. Given that our stay took place in December, we anticipated some seasonal ambiance. Instead, the hotel’s atmosphere appeared primarily geared toward families with children, including nightly live dinner theater in the restaurant, with limited holiday décor throughout the property. The Gold Floor lounge offerings were also quite limited, with a modest food selection and a reduced wine and cocktail offering compared to other Fairmont Gold lounges we have enjoyed across Canada and internationally, including Toronto, Vancouver, Quebec, and Shanghai. Overall, this hotel though very centrally located, looks and feels very outdated. While this experience will not deter us from continuing to stay at Fairmont properties in other cities, we’d be hard-pressed to return to the Fairmont Winnipeg in the future.
