Just What the Doctor Ordered!

Sandra S (Toronto) on Jul 20, 2024

This was a family trip and our first time to Barbados. We stayed at the Hilton for 7 days. We enjoyed our stay very much. Before booking this hotel, I read prior reviews complaining about the dated rooms. Although this was true, the ocean view room we booked was clean and had a spacious balcony. We had booked the breakfast for the week and it was the best thing we did. The food selection was perfect. We only ate dinner at the sport's bar three times during the week and ventured off the property to source out local restaurants on the beach. There are options of two other restaurants but one needed reservations and the other was too pricey. Overall, the food is expensive. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. There was no real entertainment in the evening. It was pretty quiet overall. It really is a hotel versus a resort. We were fortunate to enjoy a few days of the beach without sargassum (algae). This algae floats onto the shore like brown mats. It collects at the shore and needs to be cleaned to prevent it from decomposing and smelling like sulfur. The hotel started the cleaning process a couple of days once it all started accumulating. At one point, the beaches were not accessible due to all this algae. Thankfully, the hotel has beautiful pools to enjoy. We hope to return to Barbados.

Not Impressed at All Needs a Facelift

Experience118238 (New York City, New York) on Jul 14, 2024

I would like to begin with the positives, nothing but friendliness all over the place from the security staff to the bell staff to the ladies at the front desk. Visiting Barbados for 5 days for 5 days partly pleasure and also to check out the hotels in the area as I am planning an event in 2025 and looking for the best accomodations. Booked for 1 night the ocean view King bedroom only to have my supposed Ocean View suite obscured by forest/ trees. While I understand running such a large property is not easy I would be dishonest if I did not point out the fact that this property is extremely dated and in need of a renovation. I was really disappointed especially because it is after all the “HILTON”. The bathroom is not very clean at all, I just tolerated it because it was only 1 night and inwardly thankful I was night staying longer than that. The room service menu is very limited. The property is in a great location. Overall I am disappointed and could not help but to feel I could have stayed home and rented a room in a luxury hotel in my city.

The Team make the Hotel !!!

Herge S (London, United Kingdom) on Jul 12, 2024

We (family of four) have just got back from six nights at the Hilton Barbados celebrating our son’s 16th birthday – It was AMAZING! Considering what everyone had just been through (Hurricane Beryl) the team at the hotel were very energetic and upbeat – the Team at the reception were very helpful from the moment we arrived – always checking in to see how everything was as we passed. Everyone there, and I mean EVEYONE always greeted us with a smile and upmost respect. Our room was a double on the seventh floor, very clean nice wooden floor with a balcony having a great view. The room was stocked up daily with plenty of coffee and water bottles. As we were there celebrating our son’s 16th Birthday, the team had organised a lovely chocolate cake in the room the night before the big day – so a big thank for that!!! We did not eat much in the hotel, except from the café by reception – very nice food / coffee and open all day. The very nice lady at the customer service desk helped us arrange a day out on The Cat & Fiddle the 62-foot Luxury catamaran from Lagoon Catamarans (another review) – very helpful and informative and took time to listen to what we were trying to plan for the day. The pools – though we could not get in on our first evening there (due to cleaning after Hurricane Beryl), the following days were perfect, plenty of towels, no need to get up at 6am to find a spot – the team there even put-up balloons. Though there is plenty to do on the island, we just chilled most of the time, eating out local (Bali’s / Buzo / Champers) and two great evening out (Oistins / St Lawrence Gap) – all recommended by the team at the Bell Desk – always good to ask them for suggestions. Overall, a great first time visit – highly recommend it!!

Hilton - Staff is Great

FLTravelerUSA (Oviedo, Florida) on Jul 07, 2024

Very nice hotel in a good location. Easy to walk to Carlisle Bay or a short cab ride anywhere else. Sharon who takes care of you at the pool and Jaleesa the fantastic bartender, will take of anything you need. Be sure to ask Jaleesa for the “Jaleesa Special” you won’t be disappointed. The people are great and the location is fantastic. The food in general is a step above other hotel options in Barbados that we have been too. You can’t go wrong. Enjoy!!

No food at Hilton Barbados Resort

Nandan G on Jun 29, 2024

There is no food at this resort, Resort has two hotels and both restaurants were closed at day time. Beach restaurant had no food during from 1 pm to 7 pm Cuppa Cafe had no food , all shelves were empty. Dinner food quality at Lighthouse was terrible, it took 1 hour and tasted worst than mediocre and cost B $325 for 4 Hilton Barbados Resort was not ready for cricket World Cup event. If they cannot provide food service to their guest why do they accept reservations? Manager Shelly was unreachable
