Enjoyable stay thanks to the team!

Michael M (Duluth, Minnesota) on Feb 08, 2025

Love the previous review which said "don't expect to pay a 1 star price for a 5 star resort." We are Hyatt Globalist members and have stayed at beautiful resorts around the world. We didn't come here with high expectations, we just wanted a relaxing Mexican vacation. Beach is beautiful, pool clean, room comfortable with beachfront location and working AC, restaurants and drinks were as what you'd expect for an all inclusive. Plenty of activities, great walking/running roadway adjacent, and the staff are phenomenal. Special thanks to Raul, Aaron, Miguel, Glendy, Diego, Christian and Ramone for adding extra special service to make our stay special (Tip: if you want excellent service tip generously. The people work hard).

tired

Poor excuse for a resort. Just don't waste your money. It's a 1 star all day.Everything is broken from staff to patio furniture. The smell and rooms are something Hyatt should be ashamed to put there name on this palce. Take of it switching to a Dream Resort. As it stands it's a nightmare.

10th stay since 2012. Will need to improve dining and amenities before we will return.

My wife and I stayed at Sunscape Sabor for 14 nights in January 2025. This was our 10th stay there since 2012, and have visited Cozumel over 20 times since 1984, so I feel like we are well qualified to review this resort. • Check in – Juan was efficient and we got the room we reserved. • Room – Beds firm. Showers warm/hot. Room safe batteries were dead which they promptly replaced. A/C surged and louvers rattled until I applied adhesive tape. Later in our stay the A/C did not seem to be cooling as well. They said they worked on it but hard to tell. The morning we left the A/C began leaking condensate into the room. The mini-bar was inconsistently restocked. Houskeeper Andres was great and worked with our schedule. • Amenities – This was a disappointment from previous stays. The bicycles that were previously available for use are gone, allegedly for maintenance. The two Hobie Cat sailboats on the beach next to the bar are still there but not available for use, allegedly due to “new management” (Hyatt). The gym is well equipped. I used the elliptical every day. Aaron with the entertainment team is friendly and enthusiastic. • Grounds – Sunscape has one of the better beaches in the south hotel zone. We found the overall landscaping to be improved compared to prior visits. It would help if dirty dishes left outside rooms were picked up in less than 24 hours. • Bars – No top shelf liquors but adequate. Draft Dos Equis beer only. Any comments about watered down drinks are untrue. • Dining – This was a major disappointment. 13 years ago there were four restaurants available to Sunscape guests. When Dreams was built, Porto Fino and the Italian restaurant were no longer accessible to Sunscape guests, but the Marketplace Café buffet was added. When we arrived this year we found that Marketplace is no longer accessible to Sunscape guests, leaving only the Patio and Sunnyside, resulting in totally inadequate capacity and variety of menu options. It might be OK for a 3-4 night stay, but not for two weeks. Contrary to other reviews you might read, the food was of adequate quality and quantity, but that does not outweigh the lack of variety and long wait times if you don’t arrive early. Too many “Italian Nights” at Sunnyside. And even if you call sliced hot dogs “Mexican sausage”, they are still sliced hot dogs. Decaf coffee was generally unavailable. Neither restaurant had lunch times that would support a 12:45pm afternoon dive, so we had to take something from breakfast or grab a cold sandwich at the Coco Café (coffee bar). Miquel at the Patio and Carolina at Sunnyside were great as always. Roseanna, Elizabeth and Mario were friendly and gracious as always, but unfortunately their restaurant was not available to us. • Coco Café (coffee bar) – The coffee bar was good for morning and evening coffee, although decaf was sometimes not available. Ramon knew what we wanted within a day or two. • Diving – We like Dive Palancar and have used them for years. Contact Luis Lopez at the concrete pier north of Dreams. Tell him David sent you. • Check out – No issues. • Overall – Be realistic in your expectations. It is unreasonable to pay one star prices for a three star resort and expect a five star experience. The staff is generally friendly and tries hard. I know gratuities are said to be included, but we bring $100 in one dollar bills for each week of our stay and use them for housekeeping, restaurant servers, bar personnel, etc. It is greatly appreciated. Having said all the above, we like Sunscape Sabor, but the current restaurant situation is a deal-breaker for us and will have to be rectified before we will return.

Quiet peaceful Beautiful Resort

Amanda H on Feb 06, 2025

Great quiet resort, if buffet food is what you are looking for don't come here. We were pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the food and service at this resort. So good wish I had the chefs come home with me! We had Ocean front rooms of which are awesome and easy access to the beautiful beach. All the workers deserve raises they work so hard and anything you need just ask and it will be given to you. Yes there were only 2 restaurants to pick from at night. Lunchtime can be quite challenging if the resort is full as there is only Sunnyside open at that time otherwise the food truck by the pool had hot dogs and hamburgers and nachos. Room was cleaned and serviced everyday please tip the staff generously as they work hard and long days!! I enjoyed my daily yoga and Zumba in the mornings!
