It’s what you make of it…

barnzey109 (Dillsburg, Pennsylvania) on Jan 29, 2023

To be clear: we are very laid back travelers, and don’t need fancy to enjoy ourselves. It is what you make of it! This resort was very dated, extremely small, and wedged between Secrets and the new Dreams. Not a lot of amenities. All employees were very friendly, Verdidiana (server on the beach) was by far the best of the bunch. Tip her well, she works very hard! The beach was nice. Get your towels and grab a lounger early, they’re very limited. Rocky, but with water shoes it was easy to get in the water. Snorkeling was great right off the shore, or down by the pier. Dining is limited and choices are few, nothing stood out to us. When we were there there were not a lot of people so wait times weren’t bad. The snack shack had good burgers but was very slow. Tortugas was by far the most popular spot. Grab a swing and be prepared to watch great sunsets every day! Overall, for what we were there for this was fine. Would we return to Sunscape Sabor? Not likely. Would we return to Cozumel? In a heartbeat!!

Beautiful resort, great staff, but long wait times.

Tanner G on Jan 14, 2023

Resort was beautiful and the staff was great. I wanted to specifically recognize Johny with the entertainment team. He was very friendly and professional! We really enjoyed interacting with him and it made the activities involved so much fun! One thing that stood out was how he remembered all the names of the peoples he interacted with which really made us feel cared about and respected. He did a 10/10 job and really should be acknowledged for that! We also had Chris who was very friendly and enjoyable to do these activities with. He always has a smile on his face and together both of these guys made our stay very enjoyable when it came to the activities. Only problem we had this week were the wait times when it came to food, seemed like they were all over the place. One night we would have our food ready in great time and enjoy a very tasty meal, while another night we would wait 3 hours to get a couple entrees. The snack shack would also be extremely slow at getting what seemed like a simple order. A burger and fries would take over a half hour and there would be a line with 5-10 people waiting. Overall experience was delightful and we really enjoyed our stay, thanks!

Entertainment

Crabbigale on Jan 14, 2023

Johnny and Chris were the best entertainers I’ve met. They are so fun and nice! They really make you feel comfortable and right at home while at paradise. We stayed at dreams but came over to Sunscape for the fun activities and hospitality.

Had an amazing week in paradise!

nicolesE176VK (Toronto, Canada) on Jan 04, 2023

I was apprehensive about my vacation after so many negative reviews. I made my review as detailed as possible to help anyone trying to book. We had such a positive experience-- very confused about all the negative reviews! ROOM: we’re in room 2623 and had a fabulous view and location. The room had 2 double beds. They were comfortable enough. Our A/C was broken but it was fixed very quickly when we told the front desk! My only wish for the room would be to have more hooks to hang bathing suits and towels up. It had everything else you would need for the week- shampoos, soaps, sanitizer, etc. Water pressure was good in our shower as well. BEACH: absolutely gorgeous!! Sunscape has a phenomenal beach. It is incredibly clean and is all you could ask for! I didn’t see one piece of litter on the beach at all. I’ve been to other resorts and seen garbage while swimming in the ocean (tourists being awful- not the resort’s fault per se) but nothing here! Garbages are available all over the place. Water shoes are important as there are rocks going into the water. The snorkelling right off the beach is amazing. There are so many cool tropical fish and I even saw a sting ray as well. If an excursion isn’t in your budget, have no fear, the beach has lots to offer. There are water sport rentals available on the beach from 10-4 daily. You can use for 2 hours per day. They also have snorkel gear available too. There are a lot of loungers on the beach and huts with tables as well. Wake up early and get your towels out there. Any later than 7:30 and you are limited and likely can’t get a hut. There are 2 beach bars. One stays open until 1am. There are fun swings to sit on at the bar, and make for great photo ops. FOOD: as always, I love the food in Mexico! I could eat guacamole and chips for every meal! There are 2 restaurants at Sunscape. El Patio and Sunnyside Grill. They are both sit down style restaurants. In the morning El Patio did have buffet style breakfast as well (not sure about lunch and dinner). The food was really good and service was fast. If you are 18+ you can also use Market Cafe on the Secrets side of the resort. It is your typical buffet at an all inclusive. Some food looked better than others but that’s life! During the day you can get yummy snacks brought right to you on the beach! Shout out to Vividana (not sure of spelling) she is a fantastic server and is out there 11-4 bringing food and drinks. Tip her! She works so hard. We enjoyed beach burgers with fries and nachos everyday. My only complaint about the restaurants was the inability to take food out. I got a head cold and needed to sit in the A/C in the morning when it was very humid and was unable to. I understand the reasoning, but at the same time, I was trying not to sit with a bunch of people and spread my sickness. I was able to get room service for dinner one night when I was too ill to leave my room for the night. That was much appreciated! RESORT OVERALL: it’s a small but great resort. We didn’t hang out by the pool much but it’s a nice area too. There are huts with plugs available to charge your devices as well. There is a gift shop on location, spa, gym and 2 beach bars. There is delicious ice cream at the Cafe in the lobby. The entertainment staff are great. They are always up to something and truly work their hardest to ensure people are having a good time. NYE: wow!! The way the resort went ALL OUT!! They spent 2 days getting the beach set up and it was beautiful. They had lights, a stage, and tons of food and drinks for everyone! The amount of work that went into this was amazing to see. They did an excellent job! The Dreams side of the dinner had much better and fresher food though. Sunscape’s side was just buffet style, whereas the Dreams side was able to get fresh grilled foods. The party went on with live performances, entertainment and fireworks. Overall- we are already talking about coming back with more people next time. What a beautiful place with amazing staff to make the stay next level! Thank you Sunscape! We’ll be back soon- likely this year! *recommendation: add a shower area even if just for your feet on the other end of the beach. Our room kept getting so sandy!*

Great Resort but Needs some work in the management of it

Haley H on Jan 02, 2023

Food and beach were phenomenal, however I think the resort is a little understaffed. We had inconsistent housekeeping and table service was excellent but slow. Beautiful resort but needs a few more staff members and an extra restaurant to accommodate so many. Also it was confusing because Sunscape is sandwiched in between Dreams and Secrets but supposedly we aren’t allowed to go to those resorts, yet they can come to ours. Very confusing. Last tidbit — there is a sales pitch in exchange for free breakfast : avoid it!
