Comfortable stay, convenient location

smcvan (Vancouver) on Jul 04, 2024

I had a very pleasant stay here over a few days. Helpful staff, great location, clean and comfortable. Very walkable area with many restaurants and the breakfast buffet was a welcome way to start the day.I will stay here again when I return to Edmonton.

Metterra is a great location

Kim J (Tampa, Florida) on Jun 23, 2024

Just minutes from restaurants, shops, bars, and green space, Metterra was comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast choices and a nice happy hour after a day of poking around Edmonton.

Very good experience at Metterra in Edmonton

Christian M on Jun 22, 2024

We booked at the Metterra hotel basically the day before we came. They happened to have availability. The staff were very kind and accommodating. They gave me everything I could possibly need to for a comfortable stay. There were some things I think most people would like to be aware of before staying. 1. The hotel is located on the busiest part of Whyte Avenue. This is possibly the most popular nightlife place in Edmonton. Friday and Saturday nights can get quite noisy. I would say that if you like being in the action and near the busy night life, this is the place. If you are looking for peaceful and serene, this is not the place. They do provide ear plugs for the noise in a funny way. A neat little package with a note on it that says "for whyte noise". 2. Because the hotel is on Whyte Avenue there is a busy street right in front of the hotel. This means that the hotel needs to have parking in a separate place. The options are self-park or valet. Self-park is cheaper but then you need to walk back and forth from the lot. Valet is much more convenient and they park your car right up front. Either way it's convenient. I went with valet and was satisfied. Just be aware that both options are an additional cost. Beyond the things that you should be aware of noted above, the other things to note are: 1. The room was very clean. I felt that it was well cared for and didn't cross my mind for a second that there was anything but clean. 2. The room was very nicely appointed with furnishings. The bed was comfortable and clearly not old. 3. We were 100% safe the whole time. Not a moment of concern. The neighborhood might be the premier nightlife location in Edmonton, but it was nothing but people having fun. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again.

Another nice stay at the Matterra

Mark J on Jun 13, 2024

Another enjoyable stay at the Matterra on Whyte. The check-in and check-out were very smooth and the King Suite is a bargain compared to rates at other hotels. The upholstered furniture in the suite could us a refresh and additional kitchen towels and cutlery would be a nice touch. They have reinstated wine-hour (5-6pm) which is nice. The complimentary breakfast buffet is also very good. My only concern was the non-working elevator. Apparently it has been down for some time due to lack of parts or something. All in all - a very nice stay. The hotel is well located in the middle of Whyte with restaurants and shops just out the door.

Nice but could be better

jtfman (Seattle, Washington) on May 10, 2024

A boutique hotel on Whyte Ave - unexpected for sure! Entry lobby is lovely and the front desk staff person was friendly and efficient. My room was on an upper floor facing west so I had a nice view of the sunset. The room itself was spacious and reasonably well-appointed. I appreciated the Illy coffeemaker and the multiple charging ports on the desk and bedside table. Bathroom was well laid out but in need of upkeep - while the furniture in the bedroom area was in good condition, the wooden vanity in the bathroom was heavily scratched and looked like something left over from a 1950s roadside motel. The towels were dingy and thin - REPLACE THEM! The lounge area was under repair when I visited, so could not get evening drinks and breakfast was served in the boardroom (it was more than adequate and was included with the room price). Overall, this is a nice hotel in an interesting location that could be even better with just a little more attention to upkeep and amenities.
